Owen

My eyes snapped open to the unmistakable sound of Willow screaming. I sat up in bed with a start and threw the wool fleece blanket off of my body. I jumped up from the sofa and ran towards the stairs without a second thought. I climbed them two or three at a time, wanting nothing but to get to her. Was she okay? Why was she screaming? My heart nearly beat out of my chest and I stopped breathing until I made it to her bedroom door. I had no idea what I was going to find on the other side of the door but I was ready for it. Nothing else mattered in that moment.

I slammed the door open and scanned the dark room with my eyes, searching for any signs of danger.

Instead, all I saw was Willow's small frame, huddled close together, her legs drawn up to her chest. Tears streamed down her face as she visibly trembled. I immediately dropped my guard and rushed towards her.

When she flinched at my approach I took a step back. "Willie? What's wrong? What happened?"

She stared out in the da

Rune My father sits at his desk with a deep scowl on his face in contrast to his usual smile and calm demeanor. He may be the Alpha, but my father was always fair and just and made sure he never went around town taking the stress of the job with him. He always said that while it was his duty and obligation to the Pack to deal with business and keep them safe, it wasn’t their business to deal with the stress of it all. That burden always fell on him. Growing up I fucked up a lot, and I can admit I was a snot-nosed kid, but my father always tried to put me on the right path. I admired him for it. Alpha Landon was my father, but he was also my Alpha and I, like everyone else in the Pack, had to obey him. Of course, growing up this didn’t mean he was always strict with me and my mother. On the contrary, my father was always smiling with my mother. every chance he got, doing his best to make family memories. But now, as I enter the office, I know this won’t be one of those times. Layla

Rune Ugh. Willow and I were having such a moment. She was actually leaning against me and accepting my touch, unlike earlier. Willow wasn’t pushing me away or squirming in my grasp. She just sat limp, her pale face wet with tears that she never should have had to shed, as I wrapped my arms around her. I stroked her hair and tried to calm her as best I could, even though my rage was growing. I was going to have a talk with Layla. She knows better than to do something so reckless. Not only did Layla almost kill Willie—another pack member—but Willow is also set to become the Pack’s next Luna. Wolf on wolf violence is strictly prohibited unless sanctioned and guided by the pack elders. Occasionally, business and other matters of life are handled this way by The Pack, but it’s very rare to see two wolves fighting in public. We have laws against that. Laws that Layla so recklessly broke. As soon as I was sure Willow was safe, I was going to round her up and head to my father’s so she can

Willow “Aren’t you two just so adorable!” Alexandra gushes as she takes my temperature. Rune shoots her a glare. Hm.. that was odd. Alexandra examines my eyes and asks about my pain level. “Um.. maybe a 4? It’s just my neck..” “Let me see?” I unbutton what is left of my blouse up until the third button. My bra peeks out from the ripped fabric and I blush. There’s no way Rune isn’t staring at me, being he pervert his is. Sure enough, when I tear my eyes away from Alexandra I see Rune’s eyes darken with lust. I shiver. “Oh my.. these won’t need stitches thankfully, but I am going to cover them and use butterfly bandages. There will be some bruising for a few days but no major scarring.” Alexandra turns away and heads toward the cabinet where she grabs some peroxide and bandages. She pours some peroxide on a cotton ball and I hiss when it stings my neck. “I’m sorry dear..” “It’s fine.” I reassure her, it stings but it’s a fleeting pain. She skillfully wraps my neck in bandages

Owen"You don't have to stay again, honestly, I insist." Willow stood before me, a pillow in her arms, her hair pulled over her shoulder to one side. She was once again being stubborn. I shook my head. "No. I'm staying." I didn't trust Layla, or anyone else, and I would be damned if I let something else happen to her while I was away. I wasn't going to let her out of my sight again. I couldn't forgive myself if someone else hurt her. She let out an exasperated sigh. "You aren't budging on this, are you?"I shook my head and gave her a grin. "Not a chance."She studied my face for a moment, obviously trying to get me to relent, but I had no intentions of budging. She should know me better by now. She rolled her eyes. "Fine. I see I can't get you to change your mind, you're stubborn as ever."That makes two of us. "But I don't want you to sleep on the couch again." She winced as if the thought of me on the couch made her feel worse than ever. I shrugged. "It's fine. Stop worrying ab

WillowI felt Owen's eyes searing the side of my face the entire drive back from the hospital. He gripped the steering wheel with white knuckles the entire way to Papa's. I caught him looking at my bandaged neck multiple times. He gave me guilty looks out of the corner of his eye, always keeping his eyes transfixed on the road. We both stayed relatively quiet, only engaging in smalltalk a few times, as we continued our journey. Finally, when Owen pulled into the dirt driveway, I had enough. "Can you stop moping around, dude?" I hopped out of the truck and closed the door with an audible slam. Owen frowned and followed suit, locking the truck and leading the way up the stairs to the porch. "I am not moping."I followed at his heels, keeping my arms crossed. "Then why won't you talk to me?" I pressed. He turned the key I gave him into the lock and opened the door. "Maybe I just don't want to talk." I followed him into the house and he shut the door behind us. He stood in front of me
