LOGINKatelina’s POV
“I want a divorce.” I said.
His eyebrows shoot up to his hairline, and suddenly he looked unattractive in that light. I have always thought his beauty was unmatched, but after what I saw and heard last night, it took away every last bit of admiration I felt for him.
His eyes are completely black, glaring daggers at me.
“A divorce?” he repeated. Is he a parrot?
I tilted my head and looked at him fiercely.
“Yes.” I said, nodding my head once while maintaining my composure.
“Kate, how can you say that?” A sobbing Coleen stepped forward from hiding behind Kalen.
I rolled my eyes at the plastic woman. She is pretending she doesn’t want us to divorce but I bet she is jumping overjoyed inside her petty little heart.
“Kalen has been nothing but a good husband and Alpha to you, to us. Why should you be the one to insinuate a divorce?” she asked in between sobs. I squinted my eyes at her.
She keeps wiping nonexistent tears as she looks between me and Kalen. Kalen is heaving out quick breaths, probably stunned that I mentioned the divorce first and not him.
Rising to my feet, I walked towards Coleen and stopped once I am in front of her.
I raised my hand before landing a powerful slap across her cheek. The sound reverberated throughout the room and echoed in the silence that followed.
Then, it was chaos.
“KATELINA!” Kalen growled.
Coleen burst into tears, exaggerated by her senseless cries before Kalen wrapped his arms protectively around her, pulling her away and out of my reach.
I watched in amusement as my husband took on the protective act for another woman and not his wife. But I still cannot deny the pang in my heart upon seeing that.
“Katelina, she is your sister!” he barked, and now it is my turn to glare daggers at him.
“My sister?” I scoffed.
“You mean the sister you were f*cking behind my back? Some blood.” I snarled and turned my gaze at Coleen before I could even see it coming.
A large hand just connected with my face. Then pain radiated across my cheek down my neck.
He struck me.
Everything stilled. It’s as if the world went into slow motion. The only thing I see is my sister’s surprised face turning into secret satisfaction before shifting back to sad, then I slowly turned my head to the person who dared to strike his own wife.
In the three years we have been together, he never laid a hand on me. Part of the reason why I liked him was that he was gentle, and I thought that was unique. But it was all an act.
“Katelina I-I… I didn’t mean to… F*ck I-I’m… I’m sorry.” He moved to touch my face but I took a quick step back and he froze. His hand stilled in mid-air and a look of regret on his face.
“Don’t worry.” I said with a smile and moved so fast, slapping him hard across the cheek.
The impact was stronger than it did with Coleen, reciprocating the anger I felt inside.
I smiled.
“Now we’re even.” I stated, and the shock on his face morphed easily into anger.
“You little b*tch,” he spat and raised his hand about to slap me when the door burst open.
We all turned to look at the newcomer.
“What is going on here?” my father, Kyson, also the former beta who served Kalen’s father, walked into the room looking at us all.
Kalen quickly retracted his hand and I wanted to scoff.
“Dad, Katelina passed out and she just woke up. We were trying to find out what happened…” Kalen explained, his fingers trembling behind his back.
He had always been afraid of my dad. I don’t blame him though, my father can be scary as h*ll. He even won a challenge with the former Alpha in their teens, but he just wasn’t interested in becoming Alpha.
He lifted a perfectly dark eyebrow and glowered over us. My father is 7 ft tall, while Kalen is a measly 6. Dad is more buff and ripped than anyone I have ever seen, which is probably why Kalen gets scared the sh*t out of his pants when he looks at him.
“Is that so?” he asked, sweeping his gaze over the lot before stopping on me.
“Everyone out. I want to speak with my daughter Katelina. Alone.” he announced, making sure to emphasize that last word as well as my name so that Coleen wouldn’t assume. She huffed and turned around. When Kalen didn’t move, Dad shot him a what the f*ck are you waiting for look, making him jolt up and run out of the room.
Pathetic.
I plopped on the bed and looked down at my lap, like a child waiting to be scolded.
I felt the bed dip lower than it normally does, letting me know dad is sitting beside me. His eyes are on me. I could feel it just as intensely as I would with actual eye contact.
I see him tilt his head, examining me with those eyes. Always filled with worry.
“What happened to your cheek?” he asked, and my heart ached. I can’t answer that. If I did, the pack would be left with no Alpha.
I turned my head away.
“It’s nothing, Dad.” I lied.
As much as I tried to hide it, I have no idea what it looks like on the surface. Kalen struck me, that is probably why he looks like he is going to piss himself when Dad walked in.
Before I can stand up and walk away, Dad pinched my chin forcing me to look at him in the eye.
He sniffed the air around my face before his eyes darkened until they were fully black.
Holy sh*t. I should have ran when I got the chance. Nothing gets past him.
“That son of a b*tch.” he growled thunderously, letting me go and about to turn towards the door but I grabbed his hand.
“Dad no! He’ll kill you.” I warned. I feel like I lost everything. I don’t want to lose my Dad.
“Mutt. How dare he-”
“He was going to dump me.” I whispered, wanting the conversation to take a turn and it worked. Dad snapped his neck and looked down at me.
“What?” he asked, his tone one of disbelief.
I looked down and stared at the ground, ultimately letting him go knowing I had caught his attention.
“Coleen.” Once I said my sister’s name, I waited for several seconds for it to click.
As if he had figured out everything that has happened, he returned to the bed and sat beside me.
He sighed, “I figured. Your sister wants what you have.” he said, and I squeezed my eyes shut.
“Why?”
“When your mother died, something inside her changed. She loved both of you, but she’s changed.” Dad said, referring to my sister. I agree.
She wasn’t always so hard to handle unlike when we were little kids. She was kind, gentle, and loving. But now, I don’t even know who she is.
“I don’t know, Dad. I tried.” I said, and I felt my shoulders shake and my voice turn hoarse.
“I can’t…” I couldn’t say the words as my voice cracked. My Dad knew exactly what to do. He wrapped me in his arms and held me tight, lulling me like I was still that little girl in his heart.
“I’m sorry, Katelina. You don’t deserve this. You deserve more.” he said and I cried even harder hearing his words. After what felt like forever, he spoke.
“I know a guy.” he said, making my brows furrow together and I lifted my eyes.
“He needs a wife to help keep his pack stable. He can help you get away from this pack. For good.” he said.
I blinked and felt my heart flutter with hope.
“Who?” I asked, pulling away. Dad pursed his lips into a thin line.
“Alpha Elias of the Blood Dawn Pack.” he stated, and I all but freeze.
“WHAT?!”
Chapter 9EliasJudging from the increasingly cold atmosphere and his silence, I am guessing he had no clue.“Excuse me?” he said slowly.“You heard me.” I raised my hand just as Roger handed me the contract.“What is the meaning of this?” Oh, he’s getting riled up. Good. That means he is showing me his true self. And that black aura surrounding him is growing bigger, almost enveloping him.I haven’t seen that color in anyone’s scent for a long time now. There were other times, and each time, those people ended up with their hearts beating in my hand, before I crushed them into a pulp.Tossing the contract with Beta Kyson’s signature on it and mine to the moron, I sensed him grab it in mid-air.“Read it. It has everything you need to know about my deal with Kyson.” I heard shuffling of papers. Now I am getting bored. Do I really have to deal with this insignificant pr*ck when I have better things to be doing?‘Like what?’ Warrick scoffed.I think about it for a second.‘You have co
Kalen’s wolf (Rabi)When I was mindlinked by my warriors that a sleek black SUV passed the borders unannounced, I was on my way to shift and have my own pound of flesh from anyone who dared to trespass my territory. This is what happens when you have a weak Alpha. It allows other packs and even rogues to belittle your authority that they are not even afraid of crossing the line.Kalen had his shot, and I gave him plenty of chances to change his tactics and focus on becoming the greatest Alpha we were meant to be. Instead, he had turned himself into pointless affairs with many women without our luna’s knowledge. Coleen wasn’t even the only one he was f*cking around with. It had gotten worse to a point it made me s*ck. With Kalen sticking his d*ck into the first b*tch he sees as his first priority, I knew things needed to change. The first step needed would be to get rid of the human. If only I could, but if he dies, then so will I, unfortunately. He is merely asleep, and once he reali
The next day in the Blood Dawn Pack territory…Alpha Elias BaneThe smell of morning dew and fresh grass filling my nose told me it is nearly dawn. Yet, I don’t sense anything from the borders to indicate anyone is coming. Not one movement apart from the guards doing their usual patrol rounds. My jaw ticked in irritation at the late arrival. It is bad enough I had to choose a luna. No she-wolf can match my wolf, Warrick, in this lifetime or the next. No one was every worthy, not even my mate. Some sorry excuse for a luna who I was more than happy to kill. And now I am feeling that same willingness to take someone’s pathetic little life with the amount of time I had been standing here, waiting as I listen to any sound of tires screeching near our gates. Still, there was nothing.“Alpha, I received an update from the spies we planted in the Shadow Moon Pack.” Roger, my loyal beta, informed.I turned my head slightly but made no effort in looking up. It was pointless anyway. I know exac
Katelina’s POVI struggled beneath him and fought as hard as I could, but in the end he forced himself inside me. My wolf whimpered and we were powerless against him. His aura was stronger than anything else. I always knew Kalen had a strong wolf, but now I know the reason why he never lets him out. He is worse than death.I tried mindlinking my Dad, but it was no use. Dad never mindlinked back. It felt like he blocked me but that was impossible.Tears rolled down from my eyes endlessly, even after he was done and stood, gathering his clothes.“Get dressed. You are still my wife and luna. As for your insubordinate father, don’t worry about linking him.” My eyes flew open and I shot up, glaring daggers at him.“What have you done?”He turned around and looked at me with a bored expression on his face.“I stripped him off his position and is serving time in the cells.” he said casually and I looked up at him, shocked and in disbelief.“What?” my voice came out a mere whisper.“Oh don’t
Katelina’s POVThe sound of my hand connecting to his face rang in the air and across the room. The impact must have been so strong that it forced Kalen’s head towards the far right, and it stayed there for a couple of seconds before he slowly turns it to look right back at me.In the darkness, I switched into my night vision with the help of my wolf. When I did, I gasped at the sight facing me.Kalen’s eyes are black as charcoal, indicating his wolf is with us now.His lip pulled back into a snarl making me jump a few steps back. The aura emanating off of him is intense. This is the first time I have ever felt him act like this or even exude such a pressure.“I am done with your disrespect, Katelina.” he snarled, glaring holes into me. At this moment, my instincts are going haywire, and I realized I am in danger.I turned around ignoring him and aimed for the door, walking as fast as I can. It seems it only fueled his anger because before my hands reach the doorknob, my body is slamm
Katelina’s POVI raised an eyebrow and dragged my eyes from Kalen to my sister. It pisses me off that I want to rip the h*ll out of her but I couldn’t. She is my sister and now, pregnant with the pack’s heir.“What? Did I miss something? Would you like me to announce that the pack is having an heir through the pack link now?” I snapped.Kalen held up his hands placatingly, and stepped in front of my sister in a protective stance. I wanted to scoff. To think it should be the other way around. I am now the bad guy.“Katelina. The pack doesn’t know.” he said, and I understood.I nodded my head and gave him a mocking smile.“Very well. I will send the divorce papers to you within the next two days. Don’t worry, I’ll sign beforehand. And I will resign from being your luna. Effective immediately.” I stated, not taking my eyes off of Kalen. He looked at me as if my words wounded him, and I wanted to scoff.“Katelina. It doesn’t have to be like this.” he started but I held up my hand and sho
