Joyce Feathers...

"I'm starting to think you like my company?" Ollen's mother commented.

"Please, not now." I whispered, keeping my eyes on the waterfall and my ears opened to the splashes it made as it entered the pool.

"Seeing as you have survived yet another full moon, I assumed you would be in a better mood." She said.

I felt her presence around me, along with a few others who I assumed were some of the previous Lunas.

"What happened now?" She asked, an exaggerated sigh following her question.

"I'm leaving in four months." I replied.

"And you're sad about that?"

I pulled my knees to my chest and burned my face between them.

"I'm sad because I was only used to an end once again." I replied.

Nobody wanted me unless it was to use me. My parents and my entire previous pack showed me that time after time. I was hoping this place would be different, that Ollen would be different, that they wouldn't just use me, that they would want me to stick around.
