"It's one of the Sea and Moons pack members." Laura replied, walking back to her desk where she had left the red button.

"They were definitely in this pack, Ollen. They were here when the fire started. And they killed the two soldiers keeping guard of the warehouse. I know they did this to shorten our shot at being independent from them." Laura added, clenching the button in her hand with anger.

"I see." Ollen mumbled. "Thank you, Laura."

Ollen pulled me out of the basement, closing the door behind us before we started making our way up the stairs.

"What are you planning on doing?" I asked.

"I don't know yet, Joyce." He replied with a sigh. "Right now, I think it's best if we focuse on restoring what we lost, buy the things we need and store them where they can't easily be burnt down by the enemy."

"How did they get part of the border patrols?" I whispered.

That question seemed to bother Ollen as well, and he didn't have an answer for it.

He walked me to my room and waited until I entered.

"Joyce?" He called out.

"Yeah?"

"From now on, I would like it if you remain close to me until we fix the treath against our pack." He commented. "You remember what Markus said, right? They want to kill you, to take you away from us. I will not allow that."

His worry was valid. I didn't want to fight him on it, nor did I want to.

"Okay." I replied, and an instant relief filled him, bursting through the mind link still open between us.

"Have a good sleep then. I'll see you tomorrow morning." He said, turning around to leave.

I wanted to ask him to stay. I didn't want to sleep alone, but I was inviting him into my bed this early, even if it was just to hold each other.

I still felt guilt for the lie, and I had to quickly disguse it, fearing Ollen would be able to feel it through our open mind link.

I closed and locked the door before I went to bed, needing to sleep the night away.

I didn't get the peaceful sleep I had hopped for. Instead, I was in the woods getting absolutely bullied by the voices. But they weren't just voices screaming into my ears until blood poured out from them.

They stood around in, figures tall and intimidating, beating me down to the ground until I agreed to do as they told me to do, and that was the end of the Kingsmen bloodline by killing Ollen.

It was suffocating. I knew it was a dream. It had to be. It was the only explanation for it.

But the amount of fear I felt was real. I felt each one of their punches and kicks as if they were happening to me in real life. I wanted to scream for help, but my voice was stuffed in my throat, refusing to leave me mouth.

I wanted to run by my legs and felt like they were jellies. I could barely make it to my feet, let alone run from them.

The torture continued until I suddenly heard Ollen's voice.

The vices instantly disappeared, and so did their terrifying figures and beatings.

"Breath." He ordered. "I'm through your nose and our through your lips. Breath."

I did as he ordered breathing with my eyes closed until I broke free from the dream and woke up with a gasp.

"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice loud as if he was in the room with me. But he wasn't in the room. He was just in my head.

I laid back down.

"I'm fine now." I replied through the link, pressing my hands against my face to rub the sweat from my forehead and eyes.

"You were having a nightmare." He stated.

"I was." I sighed. "Thank you for waking me up."

I looked out the window and saw that it was still dark. But there was no way I could fall asleep again no matter how much my body and mind craved it.

"How come you're still awake?" I asked Ollen through the mind link.

"I have a lot on my mind." He replied. "My biggest worry is how I'm going to stop what happened today from happening again."

"We'll find a way." I commented, hoping to make his feel better.

"I hope we do." He said with a sigh.

"And if we somehow fail, then we'll contact my family." I added.

"We will." Ollen replied without a single second of argument.

It was nice to have a partner who listened and took my plans into consideration no matter how much he might dislike it.

The two of us barely spoke after that, but we remained connected to each other until the sun came up.

The next day was filled with decision making. Just like Ollen and Arthur had discussed the previous day, they loaded up the one and only truck owned by the pack and left to sell them into human town with Mavus riding in the passenger seat.

There was no training that day. Instead, Ollen gathered the warriors and instructed them to be extra careful. He ordered them to go I'm groups of four, each boarder being guarded by as many men as possible.

He checked in the men Mini had stationed around their supply warehouse, which was now almost empty after all the products had been taken for sales.

The security was tripped. People were advised against going too deep into the woods in any direction. They were warned to keep an eye on their children at all times to prevent them from running off and getting hurt.

Ollen didn't put it past the Sea and Moons pack to harm the children, so he wanted everyone to be careful.

The gathering was dismissed hours after it was called. Everyone sprung into action, going to their stations, boarders for patrol, and keeping the lack as safe as they possibly could.

The pack was intense the entire day and night as we waited to hear from Arthur and Mavus.

Ollen told me that the drive to and from the human town is long, which was why the driver and whoever accompanied him would have to spend the night there before returning the following morning.

I barely are that day, and so did Ollen. We kept each other company, walking around to pack to check if people needed help, keeping our mind linked open to being as close to each other as possible.

The following morning, the truck returned empty of furniture but filled with other essentials. The bought food thay would last for a few weeks, mostly canned, so it wouldn't go bad right away. They also bought fertilizers to prepare the soil that had been dead for hundreds of years, along with seeds to plant.

I could see a doubt on people's faces. I have doubts, too. But I guess we were all going to have to hope for something.

The following three weeks went on with the same tension in the entire pack, the same threat looming over our heads.

The security around the pack had been tight. Ollen made sure that every single opening into the pack land was covered and watched over at all times.

The storage, a house near the main pack house, was protected every single second of the day.

One of the things that has been stressful was that the pack no longer has inventory left to make something and sell. They talked about cutting down some trees for supplied but have been holding off on it just in case any of the planted seed bring quick products. Which brings the other stress.

There was no difference in the planted seeds. Not one had peeked from the soil.

A lot of it was vegetables that usually grow fast in with a few weeks, but even they refuse to show themselves.

And to add to all of that stress, tonight is the full moon.

Laura, just like last time, had picked a place for us to hide. Ollen and I were only allowed to spend half of the day with each other.

"No matter what..." He said, his shoulder pressed against mind as we sat on the front steps of the main pack house. "If I try to open the mind link with you during the full moon, make sure to block me. Whatever you do, do not grant me access to your mind."

"Okay." I whispered.

Breaking off the mid link that has been connected for three weeks straight felt like I was breaking our entire bond. Not once since we opened the link did I feel lonely. He was always there even when he was trying physically next to me. So pushing him out of my mind and blocking him felt like it was going to be one of the hardest things I would have to do.

"Luna..." Laura called out. "It's time for you to come with me. And Alpha, I think it's best if you remain in your bedroom like last month, and try to keep yourself there for as long as you can."

Ollen nodded his head, displeasure coursing through his veins.

"I'll see you tomorrow morning." I commented, softly bumping my shoulder against his.

A small smile forced its way to his lips.

"I will look forward to hearing from you." He replied, cutting off the mind link right away.

I felt empty inside when I could no longer feel him in my head. I silently watched as he stood up, carefully climbed up the stairs, and disappeared into the main pack house.

We waited for a few minutes before Laura and I talked.

"Where are we hiding tonight?" I asked, already feeling dread.

That filled moon when we hid in the basement of someone's home felt like it happened ages ago. Uncertainly swirled in my guts.

"Come on. It's better to show you than tell you." Laura replied, walking past me to enter the main pack house.

Assuming she had a few things to get before we left, I followed after her.

Laura and I went to her room, which was the basement.

She held the door open for me and waited until I was in before she stepped in and closed the door. I watched as she locked it with extra locks I had not seen before.

I glanced around the basement.

Vice was in bed, sleeping under the covers with an eye mask covering his eyes, a vampire eyes printed on the fabric to make it look like as if he was seeing up.

The one window was boarded up, and I had noticed a while back that they made sure not a single ray of sunlight snuck into the room. Instead, the basement was lit up by a dim light that had a light blue cast on the walls.

"Are we hiding here?" I asked, a bit shocked when the realization smacked me of the face.

"We are." Laura replied. "Since we stayed in one of the houses last time, I assumed Ollen would go around there first looking for you. Sometimes, the best place to hide is right under the nose of the seeker."

"Are you sure?" I asked.

Laura had a soft smile on her lips as she nodded her head.

"I'm sure. But I made sure to have the entire house filled with warriors in case he figures out we're here. Trust me, Luna Joyce, we are not letting him kill you." She replied.

"I hope no one gets hurt like last time." I whispered, remembering how close to death Sam and Mini were.

"Don't worry." Laura commented, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "Everyone will be extra careful this time. We've learned from last month that going up against him one on one us not smart. But if we work together, we can outsmart him."

That was very promising, and while my heart felt heavy, I had no other choice but to sit out the full moon in the basement with the witch and the vampire of the pack.

  • The Blind Alpha's Mate.   It shattered me.

Alpha Ollen Kingsmen...I opened my eyes once I heard the door close, her footsteps falling further and further away from the office.I felt something twist in my chest.I was conflicted. I didn't know how to act properly after finding out that everything was a lie the previous night.I could still hear Vice speaking as if he was still sitting in the office, Laura's loud gasp still trapped in the room just as I was."It's Jenny and Joyce. Not Joyce and Jenny." Vice had commented the previous night."What does that mean?" Laura had voiced the question ringing in my head. My confusion was cleared shortly after."It means Jenny is the older sister, and Joyce, the younger." Vice had replied. "I specifically remember Laura saying that the spell she casted our had informed her that the elder daughter of Alpha Feather was your mate. It didn't make sense to me, so I looked around a little bit more. And..."Vice had hesitated for a few seconds before he'd continued, clearly knowing that wh

Ollen didn't come to the dining room for lunch. I asked around for him again and was told that he was probably out with the patrols still.I didn't have an appetite, so I went to my room, sat by the window, and waited to see if Ollen would return.I had a clear view of the woods and partial view of the front door. I threw my gaze around, hoping I would catch sight of his tall figure somewhere. I was busy looking around when Mavus spoke to me through the mind link."Did you run into the Alpha yet?" She asked."Not yet." I replied."Well, he just came back and went straight to his office. I'm going to take him lunch there for him." She commented."Thank you, Mavus." I said, wanting to run to the kitchen to hug her for remembering to ask me. I cut the link and rushed out of my room, my target being Ollen's office. I knocked on the door the second I arrived, but there was no reply."Ollen?" I called out, not wanting to badge into his room without getting invited in first.Still, there

The search for Ollen continued until lunch hour. When I walked into the dining room hoping I would find him there, he was, in fact, not there as well.Worried, I walked into the kitchen where the Omegas were walking around preparing lunch and looked for Mavus. The kind old lady was sitting by the counter, peeling onions."Mavus?" I called out."Yes, Luna? What can I help you with?" She asked, a warm smile spreading across her face. She looked at me as if she adored me, like a mother or a grandmother looking at a tiny human being."I've been looking for Ollen all day. But I can't find him. Do you know where he is?" I asked."I heard he was out with the morning patrol men. They're probably circling the pack. He sometimes goes out there with his people. I'm sure he'll be back for lunch." She replied, the kind smile not once leaving her face."Okay. Thank you." I smiled back as I turned around to leave."Oh wait, Luna dear..." Mavus called out. "I went into your room to get your dirty lau

  • The Blind Alpha's Mate.   Looking for Ollen.

Joyce Feathers...I woke up feeling refreshed. The precious day had been exciting, so exciting that it had drained me of all my energy.I was knocked out the second I laid my head on the bed and didn't wake up until Mavus knocked on my door.I was a bit disappointed when I saw that it was Mavus instead of Ollen. I remember him telling me he would come get me for breakfast before I walked into my room.I assumed he was busy. Mavus told me that breakfast was ready before she left.I took a few minutes to wash up and get dressed.I noticed that the mind link between Ollen and I was broken, so I tried to open it. But I couldn't.It was like there was something blocking me in my mind or in his. I didn't worry much. I was about to see him in the dining room anyway. I made a mental note to ask him why we couldn't link and left my room. I skipped to the stairs and wanted to spend more time with our people after breakfast. Ollen and I trained yesterday morning, which meant we wouldn'

I stood in front of Joyce, waiting for her to strike. She moved clumsily, breathed too sharp when she was about to throw a punch, and made too much noise that it was too easy to block her attack."Try not to make too much noise." I commented after I caught her fist with my hand and pulled her to me."I didn't make any noise." She argued even though I knew she knew I was right."If I can hear your movements, then it means you're making too much noise." I replied, letting go of her and taking a step back."Now try again." I said and waited, listening to her take a deep breath and then stopped breathing all together.A smile formed on my lips when I heard the loud thud of her heart against her ribcage. She might be able to control her breath, but her heart gave her away.It somehow managed to melt my own heart. The morning training was something I looked forward to since the very first day we trained together. Alpha Ollen Kingsmen...I followed the soldier to the border he said Markus was at, disturbing the peace of the pack we earned after years of mad chaos."Did he say what he wanted to talk about?" I asked, annoyance evident in my voice.I wanted to sit next to my mate in front of the waterfall for a few more hours, pretend like I could have her and she could have me, pretend like she would return my growing feeling for her even though I knew she was going to leave five months from now."He didn't say, Alpha. He insisted that he would talk to you and only you." The soldier replied.Another sigh escaped myself. "Finally." I heard Markus call out the moment I assumed he saw me. "I've been waiting for ages. It's rude to keep a guest waiting outside..."I resisted the urge to curse him out."Why are you here?" I asked, even though all I wanted to do was kill him."No need to be hostile, Alpha Ollen..." He started in that smug way of taking he has, almost as if he was mocking me."Host
