Haley
I watch in horror as wild rogues break into our cabin. Wild rogues tend to lose their humanity after being in wolf form too long and kill without a second thought. My father has shifted into his wolf, Max, fighting them off to give my mother time to save me. My father is bleeding in several places as the rogues continue to sink their teeth into his skin. My mother picks me, rushing me upstairs and I watch with tears in my eyes as my father disappears from view as he cries out.
My mother is emotionless as she locks her bedroom door, pushing her heavy dresser in front of it. She quickly throws my winter boots and a winter coat on me. She jumps from the banging at the door and hearing the growls from the rogues.
“Haley you must run and don’t stop!”
She is opening the bedroom window and ushering me out into the cold winter forest. It’s pitch black out with no moon out tonight, making it difficult to see since I do not have my wolf yet. The trees are bare of leaves and a white blanket of snow covers the ground.
“Mom, don’t make me go alone!”
“I will hold them off as long as I can Haley. Run towards the beach and find the witch, Hope. She will help you, now go!”
Mom shoves me out the window just as the bedroom door is torn down. I yelp from the fall as I land in the snow and see my mother being outmanned by the rogues.
“RUN!” My mother yells through the mind link. I turn, with tears in my eyes, towards the dark forest.
I sit up in my bed, sweat dripping from my forehead. I scan the room to find everyone else is still asleep. I rub my eyes as I sigh and grab a drink of water in the glass next to me. The same dream has plagued me for almost six years. I was twelve years old when the wild rogues attacked my home, ruining my chance of a happy life with my parents.
It had only been a year since we left Red Moon. I tried to make it to the witch’s house, but I ended up on the Red Moon pack’s territory by mistake and border patrol brought me to Alpha Jake. He has never let on he knows what I am but I am sure he knows. He decided to make me an omega slave and I’ve been here in the pack house ever since.
I look at my alarm clock to find the time is four in the morning. I have to be up in an hour to prepare for the day, but decide to start now since I am already up and there is no way I will be able to go back to sleep after that nightmare. My room is in the basement, along with all the other female slaves that work in the pack house. The men have their own quarters outside the pack house. I head to our little shower we share and get ready to start my day.
Jake Miller is a cruel Alpha with a sick sense of humor. All his female slaves wear little French maid costumes for his pleasure unless we are working a special event or party. I braid my hair down my left shoulder to hide my birthmark and head upstairs to begin cleaning. I figure I can at least get a head start on dusting since that allows me to remain quite.
I head to the library first, putting away books that got left out and stack papers together. I freeze when I see the words blood red wolf scribbled on one of the papers and recognize the writing as belonging to the Alpha. I glance at the open page in a book next to the papers and begin reading.
‘The blood red wolf is always the first born female of the Drexel bloodline. They have no scent which makes it difficult to track them, however a birthmark in the shape of a crescent moon behind their left ear identifies what they are. Last known blood red wolf, Hannah McKay. Mated to Henri Lavigne of the New Moon Pack in France. Hannah disappeared after Henri died. Cause of death is unknown. New Moon pack no longer exists, members whereabouts are unknown. Upon Hannah’s disappearance she was known to be pregnant, gender unknown.’
I jump at the sound of footsteps heading down the hall. Warriors must be up for their training. I close the book and recognize the symbol of this book, it belonged to my mother. I rush to put everything away and make a mental note of where I put it so I can steal it later, it belongs to me anyway. I stack the papers and continue dusting. I wonder why the alpha is looking for me. Now I know he definitely knows what I am.
I promised my mother I would not tell anyone about what I am and I plan on keeping that promise. It looks like I’ll need to find a way to escape this pack before I turn eighteen. I don’t know what this curse really is and I don’t now how it benefits Alpha Jake, but I don’t plan in sticking around to find out.
“You are up early.”
I turn to find my best friend Ashley walking into the library. Ashley is two years younger than me and was bought to Alpha Jake six months ago from the rogues. She and her sister, Samantha, were kidnapped from their pack and I plan on getting them home.
Slavery is frowned upon in some packs, but there are still some that use slaves. This is one of the few businesses that the rogues have used to survive as keeps them from losing their humanity by keeping busy. Some join human communities and live normal human lives, but others join this business of treating wolves like cattle. They kidnap wolves and sell them into slavery, with Alpha Jake as their top customer.
Ashley is quite pretty, though her time here is withering her away. Slaves are not fed well and Ashley has lost a bit of weight since being brought here. I hope her stay is not long and I can get her and Samantha out of here soon. No one deserves to live this kind of life.
“Did I wake you Ashley? I’m sorry.”
“No worries Haley. Was it the dream again?”
“Yeah, I can’t seem to get rid of them.”
Ashley looks at me with sad eyes. After waking her a few times from my nightmares I finally talked to her about it. It’s been nice talking to another girl.
“Want some help? Maybe we can end the day early if we finish our chores ahead of schedule.”
I smile and nod my head as she moves to the other side of the room and begins dusting. Together we are able to finish the first floor rooms, besides the Alpha’s office, before everyone else begins to wake up. The other slaves begin cooking breakfast and doing the laundry while Ashley and I head to the Alpha’s office. He’s not a very organized Alpha. He has papers throw across his desk and he left a whiskey glass with a little whiskey left in it.
“Should we move his papers so we can dust his desk,” asks Ashley.
“I’d rather not touch it and just dust what we can. I don’t want to make him angry if we move them.”
I head to the desk to dust what I can, while Ashley dusts the bookshelf. We both jump as the office door is thrown open and we find ourselves face to face with Alpha Jake. He’s tall, like a typical Alpha, with pale skin and dull blue eyes. He has short brown hair and I swear there isn't an inch of fat on him anywhere. I guess going to the gym daily will do that to you.
We move to stand in front of Alpha Jake, next to each other and bow our heads. We place our hands together in front of us and wait for him to give whatever instructions he has for us.
Thank y'all for reading this story. The story will continue with a story on Beta Mason and his mate Akila, It will be called the white witch. Alpha Avery 10 years later…… “Daddy! Paisley!” I did as Haley asked except the moon goddess blessed me with a second chance mate when the twins turned six. It took me awhile to accept her, but she has made me happy and was so good with the twins. That is what Haley wanted. I groan as the twins burst into my room and jump on my back. I peak an eye out at them as they stare a hole into me. I can’t help but chuckle. “Daddy wake up!” I roll over, pinning them both under me and they squeal as I tickle them. “Stop Daddy, stop,” they say through their giggles. “Happy Birthday you two.” “What are we doing today,” asks Asher. “I think it’s time I took you somewhere special.” “Are you finally going to tell us about mom,” asks Alina. “Yeah sweetheart. I think it’s time you finally knew about her. Go get dressed, we needs some breakfast first.” They both rush out the door, racing each other to their rooms. I laugh at how competitive they are. Alina is so much like Haley that it makes
Alpha AveryIt’s been a week since Haley died and we are finally having her funeral. We had a mass funeral for all those that died and now we are all saying goodbye to our Luna. Many kids are heartbroken at the loss of their music teacher and asked if they could all play a piece during her funeral. I couldn’t deny them. Nick and Ray worked with all of them to be prepared for today.I am in the nursery getting the twins ready for the funeral. They are barely a month old, too young to lose their mother. Besides her eyes, Alina looks just like her mother and I am sure that likeness will only grow as she ages. Asher has Haley’s eyes, hair and skin tone but his structure looks like me.“Avery, are you ready,” asks Akila as she walks in.“I am ready as can be. Do you mind grabbing Alina.”“Of course.”Akila grabs Alina and looks at
Alpha AveryI wake to find I am sleeping in my room and and the twins are no where in sight. I begin to panic but Dr. Sully pushes me to lay down.“Easy Alpha. You are mentally exhausted and have been out for two days. You’ve been through a lot.”“Where are my pups.”“They’re in the nursery Alpha. They are okay, your brother and his mate are looking after them. I did a check up on them and they are both growing just fine.”“I need to be there for them. Haley…. I promised Haley I would be there for them.”“Alpha. Shutting yourself in the nursery with them is not being there for them. I don’t think that is what Luna would want.”I run my hands through my hair and notice the letter on the night stand. I still haven’t opened it.“I’d suggest you read that Avery. She had something to tell you, you should listen.&rdquo
Haley“Watch over them Avery. Live for me, live for them.”A tear falls as I know this is what will break the curse. The selflessness of sacrificing my life for my mates, something no other blood red wolf has done. I may never see my children again but at least I know this will save her future. I kiss Avery’s forehead before placing my lips on his.“Haley stop!”I can hear Mason getting closer, but I know he is too late. I can feel my life slipping from me into Avery. I can feel him getting warmer as I get colder. Mason reaches me just as I hear Avery’s heart beat. I gladly let the darkness consume me as Avery’s eyes flutter open.Alpha AveryI feel a warmth spread throughout my body which I find weird since I know I am dead.&n
HaleyI see Avery fighting Jake and kicking his ass. It makes my heart swell with pride. Just as Avery approaches Jake three of the wolves Mason and I were fighting change direction straight for Avery. Mason and I took out the rest and he is finishing his kill with the wolf in his teeth as I chase after the three.“Avery watch out,” I yell through the mind link, but I am too late. The three wolves all sink their teeth into Avery as he scrambles to fight them off. I tackle a wolf off of him, but it’s not enough. Jake pounces on Avery and rips his throat out. Mason attacks the other two wolves and kills them. I can see the life leave Avery and Hazel howls in pain.Mason turns his attention to Jake and we both circle him. I can see fear in his eyes as he realizes he is all alone. He tries to back away and take off into the forest
