Chapter 29

Asha and I had to get back to her place in a few hours, then I normally go back to mine.

Her dad likes to wake up pretty early, so it's best we got back fast.

Clayton, Cassandra and Connor walked with us and kept an eye on us as we walked back.

Tasha hugged her mate before she took off to her back porch.

I hugged and kissed Connor before I said bye and went after Tasha.

We quietly snuck inside and locked the door behind us. We then silently made our way upstairs to her room and got into our beds.

A few minutes passed before Tasha said something. " Can you believe my mate is your mate's best friend?"

I smiled. " I know. It's pretty cool, the good part is they already know and trust each other. Which means, no matter what, we'll always be best friends forever and no one will take us away to some random pack," I say.

She nods and looks at me from the edge of her bed. " When all the stuff is done between your mate and his father, do you think you and He will take over as Alpha and Luna from his father's pack?" says Tasha. We can't say Connors name in case her parents overhear.

My eyes went wide. I hadn't realized that he was Alpha's son, that we would become Alpha and Luna when things got settled between him and his father.

" I never really thought about that. We may take over as Alpha and Luna, but it all depends on whether he and his dad make up and all the things he was arrested for are forgotten, and he's allowed to be free," I say.

She nods. We both then become silent. Soon enough, she was asleep, and I wasn't far behind.

The next morning, once we woke up and got dressed, Tasha lead me downstairs to the kitchen where her mother was setting breakfast on the table.

His father was already sitting down at the end of the table.

We sit down, and her father looks at us. " Good morning," says her father.

" Good morning," Tasha and I said at the same time.

Her father smiles slightly. Once her mother sat down, we started eating.

" So girls, did you sleep well?" asks Tasha's father.

" Yes Sir, we slept fine," I say, and Tasha nods.

" Good, good." He then continues eating.

I look at Tasha with a small confused look, and she just shrugs.

We then continue eating ourselves. Soon we were done and Tasha's father left.

Nothing else was said during breakfast.

Tasha and I head back upstairs into her room to gather my stuff and get ready for when I have to go back home.

Tasha looked extra happy today. " Hey, tonight, when I go to see my mate, do you want to tag along? I'm sure your mate will be there," I say.

She nods happily. I hung out at her place for a while before John appeared at the door.

I stand up and look at him. Something must be wrong. John would never come and get me unless dad told him to.

" What's wrong John?" I ask.

" There's been another rogue attack, and this time they killed someone and left a message for the Alpha. Dad ordered me to come get you and take you to the packed house where you'll be more safe. They also want to see you in the pack meeting room," says John.

My eyes go wide at the news and I look over at Tasha, who's currently staring at John with a mouth open in shock.

" Get your stuff now, Amber. We need to hurry." He then looks over at Tasha. " Your father says for you to stay here with your mother and stay safe," says John.

Tasha could only nod in response. I then sent only Tasha a small mind link. ' Meet me tonight at where Connor sleeps.'

'OK, I'll try.' She replies.

Once I got all my stuff, I said a quick goodbye to Tasha and her mother as John and I quickly made our way out the door and took off running to the packed house.

Half way there, John takes my bag from me so I can run faster as he runs next to me.

We soon arrive at the pack house and John leads me to the meeting room.

Alpha George is pacing the pack meeting room. My father is standing close by with a serious face and his arms are crossed. Tasha's dad is on Alpha's other side, standing almost the exact same way as my father is.

When we walk and my father spots us, relief floods across his face and he walks forward and hugs me.

Ok. I was not expecting this.

" I was so worried about you, Amber, "he mumbles softly before he releases me and backs away.

I stand there confused. " I assume you've heard about the rogue attack and the note?" Says Alpha George.

I nodded. " Well, the note was from the head rogue. Their so-called boss," says my father.

" What did it say?" I ask.

He looks at Alpha George for permission to tell me and all Alpha George does is nod yes.

He looks back at me before he talks again. " Well, that's the thing. We were so worried about you because the note was about you," says my father.

Confusion crosses my face. " What do you mean it was about me?" I ask.

" Remember what the rogue we had in the pack prison?" he said. He said that the boss of the rogues was obsessed with you," Says my father.

" What did the note say?" says Kurt at the door.

" Kurt, you're not supposed to be out of your bed," says Alpha George.

" Dad, this is a really important matter and I need to be here," says Kurt.

Alpha George nodded. " The rogue that attacked the victim left a note on the body before running away into the woods. We have guards on patrol now."

At those words, worry flows through me. If they're searching the woods, then they might come across Connor, Cassandra or Clayton. I hope they don't though.

" What did the note say?" I ask.

Alpha George nodded at my father, and he walked forward and held out a note to me."

I took it and quickly looked over it. I had to read it twice to make sure this was what I was really reading.

It said.

Better put guards everywhere. You never know when I'll attack next. One wolf may have died today, and next time there'll be more than one. If you want these attacks to stop, then give me the bête's daughter. You got three days. Every day I don't have her is another rogue attack and more innocent wolves are killed. When the days are up, I'm coming for her myself. Clock is ticking Alpha. What's it going to be?

My eyes go wide. I look at them. " It doesn't say who it's from, but we can only assume it's from the rogue in charge." Says Alpha George.

" What are we going to do?" I ask."

Kurt walks over and gently takes the note from me and reads it.

A small growl comes from him. " I'll tell you what we're not going to do. We're not giving you to them," says Kurt.

" Your right Kurt. We're not giving her to them. We'll think of something. In the meantime, John will keep an eye on you and there will always be a guard nearby," says Alpha George.

We all nod. I've got to tell Connor this as soon as possible.

Great. My life just got a lot more dangerous.
