Chapter 33

Soon enough, everyone was asleep. I couldn't sneak out of the door because my father had John sleep there just in case.

There's only one way I can sneak out, and it won't be that much of a problem since I'm a werewolf.

I walk over to the window and open it. I then put my legs over the side and jump down.

The second my feet hit the ground, I ran and hid in a bush.

My father told me there were people guarding the front and back doors.

I can't go my normal way, so I'll go and get Tasha before I go see Connor.

Once I know the coast is clear, I take off, run into the yard next door and hop into another bush before I'm seen by anyone.

I continue doing the same thing until I'm in Tasha's backyard in the bush directly under her bedroom window.

I take a small pebble and toss it up. Or about to when a hand goes around my mouth.

Panic fills me. Until I hear the voice. " It's just me, Amber," says Connor. He's whispering.

He then let's go and I turned around. " Don't worry about Tasha. She's with Clayton and Cassandra already. I knew you'd be going to get her, so I waited for her," says Connor.

I nod. I follow him deep into the woods. Once we were far away to where no one could hear, I turned and lightly punched him in the chest.

He looked a bit shocked and stared with wide eyes.

" Oh, don't give me that look. If you're trying to get my attention, tap my shoulder or make it to where I spot you. What you just did was the worst thing you could have done, especially when I have rogues after me," I say.

I'm not yelling because my father said they were searching the woods for rogues or escaped prisoners. Even though I really feel like yelling.

He smiles. " I know I probably shouldn't have done it that way. I'm sorry," says Connor.

I crossed my arms. " I thought you were a rogue. Well at first," I say.

" Technically, I am a rogue, just not an evil rogue," says Connor.

" Connor, you are not a rogue. You were a rogue for about one day before we met. You belong to Aloha Conan's pack, because soon, once your name is cleared, and he's not after you anymore, you will take his place as Alpha, but until then, you belong to my pack, even if the pack doesn't actually know it. You are not a rogue, OK," I say.

Connor smiles wider and steps forward, placing his hands on my waist and looking down into my eyes.

" When I become Alpha, you will be by my side like Luna," he says.

My eyes go wider at the thought. I forgot that him being the son of an Alpha would mean when he becomes Alpha, I would become Luna.

" Will I be a Luna?" I say.

He nods. " You will be the most wonderful Luna ever, "he says.

" What if I don't have what it takes to become Luna? What if I become a bad Luna?" I say, looking down.

He moves one hand off my waist and to my chin, tipping my head up to look at him.

" You're going to be an amazing Luna. I know you can handle the responsibilities of running a pack with me. You've already proved that. You weren't picked up as my mate for nothing," he says. I look deep into his eyes and I see an emotion in them. I remember seeing them a few times before. Love.

Then I remember what he said before I fell asleep last time we were together earlier today.

I place my hand in his hand that is still holding my head up, but his thumb is being run over my cheek.

" I heard you, you know," I say.

His face turns to a confused look. " Before, in my room when you thought I was asleep. I heard what you said," I said quietly.

He hears me though. His eyes went wide. " You did?"

I nod. I have a question to ask him. I have to know if what he said was true.

" Did you really mean it?" I say.

He looked at me with a serious face, but his eyes still held the love in them.

" Of course I meant it. I have thought about it for a while," he says.

I nod. " You don't have to say it back yet, Amber, if you're not ready, but with all the time I've spent around you and with you. Learning about you and finding out what an amazing person you are. I realized that there's no one I want to be my mate more than you. There is no one better than you. I love you Amber, "he says.

I feel tears form in my eyes. How did I get so lucky as to have a mate like him?

" I used to think that escaping that prison was the best thing that's ever happened to me, but I was wrong. I was so wrong," he says.

A small smile creeps onto my lips. " You are the best thing that has ever happened to me from the moment I spotted your wolf in the woods. You were and still are the most beautiful person and wolf I have ever laid my eyes upon. I couldn't be happier than I am right now with you here in my arms," he says.

I blink and a tear rolls down my face. For a second, worry crossed his face as he saw it.

" What's wrong baby?" he says.

I can't believe how sweet he is. He is the most wonderful man I've ever met, and he's the best mate ever.

I feel something new that I've been feeling for a day or two now when I see him. Then I realized what it was.

I love him back.

" I just realized something, Connor." I say.

" What?" He says.

I grin. " I love you too."

The look on his face once he hears those words leave my mouth is one I never want to forget.

Instead of responding, he kisses me. It's a strong passionate kiss. I kiss back.

My hands move up to his chest. He then breaks away. " Your amazing Amber. So amazing," says Connor.

I hug him and lay my head on his chest, and he hugs back, resting his chin on my head.

We don't say it anymore. We just stand there hugging each other.

I'm really happy right now. He loves me and I love him back.

Tonight was the best night ever.

" Come on. I think we should go to the others. They've been waiting a while," says Connor after a while.

I nod and back up. He then takes my hand, and together we turn and walk deeper into the woods headed to go and find our friends.

We have a lot to talk about, and I can't get this smile off my face.
