Chapter 1

Darcy Fletcher stood at the entrance of her company and tears were flowing down her cheeks as she remembered all those memorable times she had spent in this place right from her birth. She had been born and brought up in this beautiful city of Michigan. And this company was built by her great-grandfather and it’s been there in her family through three generations.

It dominated the clothing market in Michigan and was one of the topmost companies till her father fell ill and was unable to save the company’s position in the market but still they were surviving as they would get orders from their old clients. But six months back because of her brother’s mistake, they went bankrupt and so they had to sell one of their villas to a stranger who had just shifted to Michigan. As she had to pay her employees for the last time before the company was given for the auction.

And the man was none other than Billionaire Gale Harris. He was only thirty years old and had business all around the world. His company deals with cars and the Clothing industry. His grandfather was from Michigan and they also owned a clothing factory nearby to the Fletcher’s. Which had been closed down after his father fell in love with his mother and moved to Ireland.  Where he started his clothing line.  It is said that they are a very rich and powerful family but were returning for good to Michigan, as senior Harris wanted to return to his homeland. His Son Gale Harris is said to be a very ruthless businessman and Darcy had already searched for his picture on the internet but couldn’t find one.

After moving to Michigan Gale Harris had opened his grandfather’s closed factory and was reestablishing it as he wanted to recover it and give employment to the people there. Michigan City, whose economy has been declining for decades amid the loss of manufacturing jobs and, more recently the subprime collapse had ruined the market. It would be a turning point for the economy so people have welcomed him with open arms but Darcy had a bad feeling about it because right before he arrived he had been flaunting his money by buying most of the real estate and few businesses around the city. She had her own views about him.

She stood there watching the things around the factory and waited for the prospective buyer who had shown interest in buying the company but he wanted to see it first. So Darcy had driven to the factory. Darcy was very reluctant to sell it but she had no other choice and if someone bought it before the auction she would be saved from a bigger embarrassment as for the past few months her company had been in the headlines because of the scandal caused by her brother. Her father was not keeping well and she didn’t want to bother him anymore with the company’s trouble. And when she received the call the day before from someone to see the company she had readily agreed.

Darcy had already decided what she would do after she sold off the factory. firstly, she had to go and find her brother who ran away from home and was not ready to return. Her father was getting older day by day and she knew that he was always worried about Louis, her brother. He rarely spoke about him but when Darcy saw him looking down the road every day with longingness. she knew her father was eagerly waiting for his son to return home.

Last evening she had seen him looking at his photograph and tears were flowing down his cheeks. Darcy’s felt sad. On top of that, she had to go to Paris to participate in the Global design contest, which would be held in the coming month. She had won a few awards when she was doing her masters in London but when she returned home she couldn’t show her skills and help her company, as the company was facing problems one after another.

She had just turned twenty-five and she couldn’t help but sigh, her life was always surrounded the companies’ problems and she had forgotten herself.  She wondered whether it was a sign that she should move away from Michigan. But could she? She was lost in her deep thought and did not hear the Bentley driving inside the company’s campus.

She was awake from her dreams when she heard the guard telling her that the prospective buyers had arrived. She walked outside just in time to see a man coming out of the car. And it was not just any car, it was a black Maybach.  He was very tall about six feet and well built. He had a tanned complexion but when Darcy saw his eyes she couldn’t help but admire his sharp features as he was an extremely handsome man. She has traveled to a few countries while she was studying in London and has seen and met quite a few but no one as handsome as him.

He looked at her with an amused expression as she walked towards him.

“Hello, Miss Fletcher? I am sorry to have you waiting. I arrived late at night from New York so I woke up very late.” The man said and stretched out his hand to shake her hand.

Darcy smiled held his hand for a second and said. “No problem, Mr. Davis I just arrived. Please come in I will take you for a stroll.”

“Actually Miss Fletcher…………..he is not ………..” Another man had come out of the car and was about to speak when Mr Davis looked at him with a warning in his eyes and he shut his mouth.

“And you are?’ Darcy had not noticed him before, so she asked curiously.

The man cleared his throat and said. “I am John, Mr. Davis’s assistant. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Fletcher.”

‘Nice to meet you too. Sorry for interrupting earlier, you were saying something?” Darcy inquired.

“Well please don't get angry, I was about to tell you that you are very beautiful.”

Darcy blushed and her face turned red. She always got complimented because of her features which she had inherited from her mother.

“Thank you, sir, please follow me I will show you around,” Darcy said and walked ahead of them.

As the company had closed down six months back Darcy had to relieve all her employees so there was no one around except for the guard. So , she had taken the initiative to take him around.
