The grand hall shimmered with elegance, every corner draped in elegant colors which highlighted the importance of the event. Cameras flashed, heels clicked, and everyone held the champagne in their hands raising a toast for the spectacular night. But all of a sudden a hush fell over the crowd. Melvin Baker was their neighbor and his sister, Shelly was her classmate so he often visited them. Their families were not exactly friends but neither were they enemies.“Hey, Darcy! Darcy liked Melvin’s company but had never given it a great deal of serious thought and certainly, she had never considered herself madly in love with him. He was undoubtedly the most handsome and eligible bachelor in the city and had been a part of her life ever since they started going to the same school. Although Melvin was three years older than her, he would always hang out with her. And he and his sister Shelly would always walk back with her from school every day.
