Aria POV

The stethoscope was a pretty obvious indication that he was a doctor but what I couldn't figure out was why I needed one and judging by the way his face softened, he must have realized I was still struggling to understand what was happening. “You probably don't remember the incident,” he began gently.

“You passed out after drinking some orange juice from the refrigerator but unfortunately, there was a suppressant mixed into it.”

“A suppressant?”

For a moment, I could only stare at him

  • The Boy Behind The Jersey    Asher Texted Me

Aria POVAs it turned out, Asher Blackwell hadn't been exaggerating about how demanding his schedule was. I woke up this morning to two rather unpleasant discoveries. My eyes were still green, meaning whatever strange thing was happening to my wolf hadn't corrected itself overnight, and Asher had already left the apartment. I suppose I should have expected the second disappointment. The previous night, before dismissing Ezra and Jaxon, Asher had mentioned that his hockey practice started at four in the morning. I'd heard him say it, but I hadn't taken it seriously. Who willingly sacrifices a perfectly comfortable bed at such an ungodly hour just to spend time getting knocked around on an ice rink?Maybe I'd been a little unfair in my judgment of college athletes. Most of the ones I'd come across seemed to spend their days strolling around campus in expensive team jackets, looking irritatingly good while somehow managing to pass their courses without appearing to put in half the effort

  • The Boy Behind The Jersey    Asher Mate

Aria POVI take the bag from him and settle it on my lap, finding the food inside still warm. He either found somewhere open at midnight or reheated it before bringing it in here, both of which required effort.Hopefully this is leading up to an apology, because if dinner is supposed to make up for nearly killing me, we have a problem. "I forgot to tell you about the drinks," he says, stepping back. "The orange juice in the clear bottles has suppressant in it, don’t touch those but everything else is fine."That sounds like the part right before I’m sorry, so I wait and wait.Asher just stands there until my delusions wear off. Seriously? That was the whole thing? If I nearly knocked someone out because I forgot to tell them what was in a drink, I’d be saying sorry until they told me to shut up. So why can’t he?Goddess, he really is Kieran brother.Kieran used to pull the same crap. He'd do something shitty, convince himself it wasn't actually that bad, and somehow that meant I wasn'

  • The Boy Behind The Jersey    Eat Dinner

Aria POV“So, you both live downstairs?”Ezra and Jaxon nod then Ezra is perched on my reading chair, sitting backward with his arms resting across the backrest. His frame is broad enough to make the furniture look rather small under him. He has brown skin and short, curly hair while Jaxon, on the other hand, has claimed a spot beside my wardrobe. He's blonde, considerably more muscular, but his face is surprisingly handsome in a way that makes me think of a boy band member rather than a hockey player. “And you're both part of the hockey team?” I ask.“Forward,” Ezra says, pointing at himself before gesturing toward Jaxon. “He's a defenseman.”My knowledge of hockey is practically nonexistent, but those positions sound understandable.Ezra moves forward, while Jaxon protects the defense. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that, but I'll concern myself with the details if hockey ever becomes important in my life. Now that I know how they met, another question comes to mind. “How di

  • The Boy Behind The Jersey    Meeting His Friends

Aria POVI look at the doctor, then lower my eyes to the mirror again, still hoping that perhaps my eyes had played a trick on me the first time but unfortunately, the reflection hasn't changed. They're still green not even a trace of their usual colour is visible, and no amount of blinking seems capable of bringing them back to normal. “What happened to me?”The doctor carefully takes the mirror from my hand and places it aside. “That's precisely what I'm trying to understand because green eyes are commonly associated with Alpha wolves. An omega developing that particular trait shouldn't be possible.”Shouldn't be possible?Wonderful and just the sort of reassurance anyone would want from a medical professional. “However, you consumed a suppressant specifically designed for Alpha wolves,” he continues, studying me closely.“Considering the unusual strength of your reaction, it's possible the change won't be permanent.”I shift against the pillows, suddenly more alert. “Does that mean

He was the most obvious person to question since I certainly hadn't been the one putting mysterious substances into his orange juice and his jaw tightened. “I may have forgotten to mention that.”May have? There were plenty of things someone could forget to tell a new roommate. The location of the spare towels, where the hot sauce was kept, or which cupboard contained the glasses but drugged orange juice? That seemed like something he should have mentioned bef

  • The Boy Behind The Jersey    The Doctor

Aria’s POVWhen I finally open my eyes, the first thing I see is two heads hovering above me and they were two male faces and neither belongs to anyone I recognize, then both are staring down at me with such obvious concern that I begin to wonder what exactly they're seeing.I don't know about anyone else, but waking up to two unfamiliar men practically breathing in your face is enough to terrify anyone, especially when you haven't even had the chance to establish whether all your body parts are still where they're supposed to be.I blink several times, attempting to make sense of their faces, but the effort sends a dull wave of pain through the back of my head so I immediately squeeze my eyes shut again.Goddess, my head hurts and unfortunately, my head isn't the only thing giving me trouble. My mouth feels as if I haven't had a drink of water in several days. There's a horrible taste lingering at the back of my throat, and my stomach has that uncomfortable, empty sensation I usually
