"Fuck! You're dead, today!"

"Hahaha... try it if you can, asshole!"

Aslan stepped on the gas harder. The highway was quieter at night, at least much quieter than in the daytime. Aslan laughed out loud, enjoying the adrenaline rush of speeding with his enemy.

A car horn sounded from behind. Aslan drove faster. He was not going to let his enemy win. This was not really a race. Aslan had just happened to run into a group of young men he'd beaten up a while back for being rude to him. They seemed to be holding a grudge. Aslan was alone this time, none of his minions were following him, so he hurriedly escaped in his car and created this indirect race.

"Bastards! Come down if you dare! Don't just hide behind your fancy car."

Aslan chuckled as the gang caught up with him. "Well, I know my car is fancy, thanks."

Aslan stepped on the gas again. The speed of the car increased dramatically. His pursuers fell farther and farther behind.

"Hahaha! Those rats can't keep up with me! Wohoo!"

Aslan was too busy looking in his rearview mirror to notice another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. He only noticed when the car's headlights shone on him and its horn honked loudly.

"Oh, shit!"

Aslan panicked, reflexively jerking the steering wheel to the side. He also tried to slam on the brakes as the car pulled into a gas station. Because of his speed, Aslan was unable to stop his car in time. The front of his car hit another car that happened to be parked at the gas station. The sound of the crash was quite loud.

"Damn it! I hit someone's car."

The car of the cowards chasing Aslan had stopped not far from the gas station. They saw Aslan's car swerve and hit another car at the gas station. As soon as they saw that, they quickly turned around and fled before they got involved.

Aslan touched his forehead. There was a small abrasion. But it was nothing to worry about right now.

"Ouch, now what?"

Inevitably, Aslan got out of his car to inspect it. He knocked on the glass of the car door and found no one inside. A small feeling of relief rose in his heart.

"Well, at least no one died," Aslan muttered to himself.

"But my car is badly damaged."

Someone suddenly spoke from behind Aslan's body. Aslan's heart pounded. He jumped in surprise at the person's arrival.

"Oh, my God! You scared the hell out of me!"

The man, dressed in a neat suit, crossed his arms over his chest and glared at Aslan.

Aslan cleared his throat. "So this is your car?"

"That's right, and you just wrecked it."

Aslan took a long breath. "Oh, come on, it's just a little scratched."

The man rolled his eyes. "A little?"

"Okay, okay, a lot. But your car is not broken."

"And how are you going to take responsibility for that, huh?"

Aslan scratched his neck. "Money. Okay, I'll give you money. You can go to a garage or hire a mechanic to fix it. How's that?"

The man smiled sarcastically. "Is that how you take responsibility? With money? Are you just a spoiled rich kid or something?"

Aslan snorted in annoyance. He hated being thought of that way most of all, although he was not wrong.

"Hey, I'm trying to be nice here. Don't make me angry."

The man just looked at Aslan with a lazy look in his eyes. Suddenly, he pulled out his cell phone and dialed someone. At first, Aslan thought the man was calling his family or perhaps a friend, but he was wrong. The man was calling a local cop.

"What the hell? You called the cops?!"

The man grinned. "Yeah, you got to take responsibility, you spoiled brat."

Aslan squeezed his own head. This is bad. This was really bad.

"Fuck! Why did you even call the cops? I can pay for your car, you know!"

Shortly after Aslan had argued with the man, the sound of cop sirens could be heard approaching. Aslan was confused. He wanted to get into his car and run away, but the man grabbed his arm.

"Watch out if you dare to run."

And so Aslan ended up at the police station. A fat policeman asked him a lot of questions. Aslan was really dizzy.

"Name?"

"Aslan."

"Aslan... who?"

Aslan took a long breath. "Kennedy."

"Second gender?"

Aslan chuckled in annoyance. "Is that necessary? I thought second gender was private."

"We're just doing a procedure to check your identity against the police database."

"I don't want to answer."

"How dare you resist a police officer."

Aslan stuck out his tongue. "I don't care!"

"You!"

The man who had reported him earlier suddenly approached. "That's all right, no need to force him, officer. Or... Just get your family here to pick you up."

Aslan gritted his teeth. "Fine! I'm a Beta."

The man raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah?"

Aslan gave the man a sharp look. "What the hell are you talking about? I could clearly give you money to fix your crappy car, and instead you're taking me to the police station."

The man chuckled. "Nothing, I just wanted a spoiled brat like you to learn some manners."

"Fuck you!"

The man looked at the policeman dealing with Aslan. "Officer, can I have a little chat with him? I just want a little apology from him."

The policeman took a long breath and nodded. "Fine. Just don't let him out until his family gets here."

The man nodded. "Of course."

This time, Aslan was facing the man. He was too lazy to look at him. He was already annoyed.

"Come on, are you angry with me? Shouldn't I be angry with you?"

Aslan snorted. "Shut up."

"I'm Skylar, by the way. Skylar Reynolds."

"I don't need an introduction."

The man who claimed to be Skylar shrugged. "I just wanted you to know. You said earlier that your name was Aslan. Aslan Kennedy. Is it possible you're from the Kennedy family?"

Aslan's shoulders immediately stiffened when Skylar asked. He remained silent for a few moments, but Skylar continued to watch him.

"So it's true, huh?"

Aslan snorted. "No, probably just the same name. How many Kennedy names do you think there are in the world, huh?"

"Yeah, you're right. And why don't you tell me your second gender? I mean, that's a common thing when it comes to identity registration, right?"

Aslan looked at Skylar pointedly. "None of your business."

"So you don't want to contact your family? Or do you just want to stay at the police station until tomorrow?"

Skylar enjoyed the way Aslan's expression changed every time he asked a question. Skylar knew that Aslan was clearly not that much younger than he was. Maybe they were not that far apart in age, but Aslan's demeanor was much more childish.

Skylar kept trying to ask him things, and Aslan kept showing a distracted expression. They continued like this for a while, until three men in neat black suits entered the police station and spoke to the officers on duty.

"Are they your family or... your bodyguards?"

Aslan turned his head, and the look on his face immediately turned to annoyance. "Shit, why are they even here?"

Skylar continued to watch Aslan, then he chuckled, "So it's true? You're that Kennedy?"

"Shut up!"

"Mr. Aslan, we have to go. The matter with the cops is settled."

Aslan snorted in annoyance. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Your brother asked us to come get Mr. Aslan."

Aslan exhaled heavily. "And how did Allen know I was at the police station?"

The three bodyguards did not answer Aslan's question. They quickly led Aslan out of the station. Skylar had overheard Aslan's conversation. He followed Aslan and the guards outside. The policemen, who had been so stern, were immediately subdued.

Just as Aslan got into his escort's car, Skylar waved with a grin.

"Hey, Ash, you still haven't compensated me yet for the damage to my car, remember?"

The bodyguards looked at Skylar. "We'll take care of your car right away. Please excuse us."

The car drove away. Skylar chuckled. "Trying to hide his true identity, huh? But why? If he's really from that Kennedy family, shouldn't he be proud of it? He's a Kennedy, so why is his second gender Beta? This Kennedy family, isn't it famous for having a bunch of alphas?"

Skylar decided to leave when the doctor started talking about fated pairs again. He didn't want to waste his time listening to such baseless ramblings. He didn't underestimate the doctor's abilities; of course, he recognized his skills. After all, it was the doctor who had helped him with his physical condition. He hadn't consulted with the doctor in a long time because he had felt fine. He hadn't expected the doctor to be so enthusiastic about discussing fated pairs."Fated pairs, huh..."Skylar sighed deeply. Even though he tried to accept the concept of fated pairs, it still didn't make sense to him. Some couples might claim to be fated pairs, and their relationship might last, but to Skylar, that was too exaggerated. The concept was beyond his comprehension. How could someone know that their partner was truly destined for them? If one person in a fated pair had already been in a relationship with someone else and then their fated pair appeared, would their feelings for the previou

"Aslan?"Skylar returned to the hospital that night. He was confused as to why he was doing it. Besides, Aslan was a nobody. He wasn’t family or a friend. Still, Skylar felt uneasy if he didn’t go back to see him.Unfortunately, when he arrived, Aslan's room was empty.“Aslan?!”Skylar was worried. Trusting his instincts, he wandered around the hospital looking for Aslan. Sadly, he didn't meet a single nurse or hospital security guard while wandering around."Shit! Where did Aslan go? Don't tell me..."Skylar shook his head. He took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Maybe he could find Aslan by following his scent. He had done this before when Aslan was kidnapped, so maybe he could do it again. He tried to sniff the air around him. However, he still couldn't smell Aslan's familiar scent."Damn it! Why can't I smell Aslan?"Skylar continued walking, trying to concentrate on the scents around him. Several pungent scents assaulted his sense of smell, making Skylar nauseous. There were

“Are you crazy?”Skylar smiled calmly. "Why?"Aslan was speechless. How could Skylar talk about living together as casually as he talked about today's weather?“What do you mean, live with you?” Aslan asked.Skylar shrugged. "Yes, exactly what I said. You, me, us—living together at my place. Why are you so shocked? I'm just offering to help. Besides, it's not like I'm proposing to you. Just relax.”Aslan clicked his tongue in annoyance hearing Skylar's words. “Why are you offering to help? This is none of your business. Whether or not I'm in danger is none of your business."Skylar sighed. "Aslan, you're hurting my feelings."Aslan was surprised. "What?"Skylar smiled. "What I mean is, when someone offers you help, you should respond more kindly.”"I would respond more kindly if the person offering me help wasn't you!"Skylar chuckled at Aslan's harsh words. He should have been offended, but because Aslan said it with an annoyed expression and his cheeks were red, Skylar found it funn

"Allen!"Aslan shouted when he saw Allen was serious about beating up that unfamiliar guy. Aslan didn't care if Allen wanted to fight him; it wasn't his business. He just didn't want them to fight in his room. It would disturb his peace and quiet.Unfortunately, Allen was already annoyed by Haruki's behavior. Aslan was also annoyed by the man's behavior. Who wouldn't be annoyed after receiving such disgusting remarks at their first meeting? At that moment, however, Aslan just wasn't interested in seeing the commotion unfolding before his eyes."Allen, stop it! Have you forgotten that we're in a hospital?"Allen ignored Aslan's warning. He continued to press hard on Haruki's neck with his arm. Because of the pressure on his neck, Haruki's face turned pale. Sweat began to drip from his temples. Despite his condition, Haruki confidently maintained his smug expression."You still dare to show such a smug face, huh?"Haruki chuckled despite the pain in his neck. Their faces were very close

"Then what about your mother?"Aslan immediately fell silent. It had never occurred to him that someone would ask about his mother. Not even Mario, his longtime friend, had ever asked about her. Mario only knew that Aslan had a father and an older brother. Mario had never asked where his mother was, who she was, or why she never appeared. How could Skylar Reynold, whom Aslan himself was confused about categorizing as anything more than a casual acquaintance, ask him about his mother? Shouldn't Aslan have been offended? For some reason, though, he didn't seem bothered."Mother?"Skylar nodded. "Yes, your mother. What about her? It's impossible that your mother would ignore you, too, right?"Aslan glanced at Skylar briefly and then smiled blandly. "I don't know. I don't know who my mother is or what she looks like. Maybe she's dead."Honestly, Aslan didn't feel sad or lost when talking about his mother. After all, he never knew her. He never had a mother, so how could he feel the loss of

Skylar continued to hold Aslan's hand until he fell asleep without realizing it.Early the next morning, Dr. Mikami came to check on Aslan's condition because he had to report it to Allen. However, he was surprised to see Skylar there when he entered the room. Skylar was holding Aslan's hand tightly. Dr. Mikami took a photo of Aslan and Skylar, then immediately left the room.Shortly after leaving Aslan's room, Dr. Mikami sighed. This wasn't the first time he had found Skylar in Aslan's room since that night. Dr. Mikami knew very well that Aslan was not the type of person who adapted easily to others. But this... Aslan and Skylar's interaction did not indicate a good relationship, yet they seemed inseparable.Dr. Mikami had something on his mind. "That alpha... is he..." He shook his head slowly and left immediately.*Aslan woke up first. He frowned in confusion when he found it difficult to move his hand. When he looked to the side, he was surprised to see Skylar in his room. The ma
