The walk downstairs felt like a journey I didn’t want to end, not with how hard my chest was beating. I caught up with Robin after a while even with how slow I was walking which only meant he had waited for me to meet up. As sweet as that was, I would’ve welcomed silence instead. The fear of the unknown made me want to isolate myself more than ever.

I wouldn’t have feared this unexpected visit if I had nothing to hide. But carrying a secret this huge… I had every reason to be worried.

People were already gathered by the time we made it there. Robin wasted no time pulling me over to where Aries stood, and Rex’s eyes lit up the moment she saw me.

“Thought you were going to take forever,” she said, one brow raised.

I managed a dry chuckle. “Any idea what this is all about?” I asked, going straight to the point.

Her eyes moved from me to Aries, who stood facing the door.

“Alpha Levon is on his way here,” Aries said calmly. “It’s really unlike him to visit unannounced, but I guess it must be urgent if he’s willing to break protocol.”

My heartbeat quickened and then dropped immediately after.

“So just him and the rest of the Alpha Association, right?” I asked.

Aries nodded. “Probably a meeting about the hunters or something,” he added.

I let out a tiny breath, just enough to ease a fraction of my worry. If it was just the Alpha Association, then the chances of this being about the Elders’ deaths were slim.

I should’ve felt guilty that my crime might remain hidden once again. But for now, I welcomed the fragile ease settling in my chest.

“You seem less tense now,” Robin whispered as his hand rested gently over mine. “What were you worried about before?”

I just smiled back. “It’s nothing serious,” I said quietly, turning my attention to the door. “I think they’re here.”

His attention shifted to the same direction as the entire room straightened up. My eyes stayed fixed on the door until it finally swung open and the energy that hit me felt like a brick to the chest.

This power… it wasn’t just Alpha Levon or the Association. It was more than that. Way more.

“You feel it too, don’t you?” Rex asked with a faint smile.

I nodded, moving closer to her.

“Your senses are a lot sharper now, Beta,” she said, still smiling.

But I couldn’t return it. Not until I knew exactly what we were facing.

“Who’s radiating this much power?” I asked.

Her gaze shifted toward two old men standing beside Alpha Levon. He looked almost ordinary next to them, certainly not like the Alpha of the Association.

“My wolf Ria calls them the Founding Elders,” Rex murmured.

My heart dropped.

“They rank higher than the ones we locked up,” Aries added, his voice tight. “Which is why I’m still baffled as to why they’re here, without so much as a word.”

“I guess we’re about to find out,” Rex said as they walked toward us, each stride heavy like a sentence being passed.

I took a step back, my hand finding Robin’s before I could stop myself. I ignored the startled look on his face and squeezed tighter. I didn’t need any supernatural sense to know what was coming. I had been found out.

The secret I’d tried to bury for months was clawing its way to the surface, and everyone was about to learn just how horrible I was for keeping it hidden.

I had prepared myself for this moment more times than I cared to admit, but it still felt too soon. Could I really face whatever punishment awaited me? Could I really… leave them all? Leave him?

“I’m sorry,” I whispered through our link before shutting him out completely. I freed my hand from his and took a step forward.

I guess it was finally time to pay for my crimes.

“What do you mean they were found dead?” Aries barked, his voice slicing through the air as I neared them. “Are you trying to accuse my pack of murder?”

“Calm down, Alpha Aries,” Alpha Levon said evenly, stepping forward. “We are not here to cause disruption, but to punish the one responsible.”

“And who exactly do you claim is responsible?” Rex snapped sharply.

My heart clenched at how hard they all fought to defend me. But my feet wouldn’t move. Was this fear pinning me in place—or was I simply too much of a coward to admit my own sins?

“We went into those dungeons ourselves a week ago,” one of the Elders said, stepping forward. “No one had been down there for nearly two months since your pack supposedly locked them up. We had Council matters to discuss with them, but what we found were rotting corpses.”

“They could have died of old age or anything else,” Aries said, his tone a touch calmer.

“Son,” the other Elder said gravely, “that prison keeps its prisoners alive. No one has ever died in it before. That was why we authorized their imprisonment, because whenever we needed them, we knew where to find them. Alive.”

Alpha Levon cut in. “From our investigations, they were slain and left to die in cold blood.”

My eyes stung. This was it. My end.

“Slain by who?” Aries demanded. “Stop speaking in circles and say it straight. Who are you here for? Who do you think killed them?”

“Not who we think,” one Elder said sharply. “Who we know. And it’s someone from your pack.”

That was all it took to unravel me. I’d been blessed with peace for two months, but peace built on lies never lasts. I took a heavy step forward just as the Elder’s voice rang out again.

“It’s your Beta,” he spat. “Your Beta Julian.”

Every eye in the room turned to me.

So this is it.

My life as I knew it—over. I would either be beheaded or thrown into the dungeons for the rest of my days. And if I had to choose, death would be mercy.

I was about to speak when Rex’s voice cut sharply through the silence.

“Is that supposed to be a joke?” she said with a bitter laugh. “If it is, I suggest you come up with something better.”

“Watch how you address us, young girl,” one of the Elders snapped.

Aries’s growl shook the ground beneath us. “And I suggest you watch how you address my mate,” he snarled.

Every gaze sharpened, the air thick with hostility.

My eyes darted between them all, the Elders, my Alpha, my pack.

What had I done?

Did I really deserve to be defended after everything?

  • The Broken Beta’s Redemption     Chapter 137

Robin’s POV The tension in the room remained long even after Manuel exited, leaving just me and the rogue guards behind. It felt like his presence alone brought something heavier into the place, and the guards only began to visibly relax after a couple of minutes had passed. They looked more relaxed, but not enough to drop their guard around me. Their eyes remained hard and followed even the slightest of my movements, which, in my confinement, wasn’t much. I had tried, really tried, to reach out to my wolf so I could somehow use my powers, but it was a lost cause in my case. And I knew any wrong move here would get me chained even harder, if that was even possible, so I just sat there with my eyes on the wall. The room was silent despite the number of people that filled it. Only the faint crackling sound from the flames at the other side of the room and the occasional footsteps from outside filled the space. After hours of sitting up, trying to think of a way out and coming up

The feeling that ran through me was almost indescribable, but the only one I could be sure of was the pure relief that washed over me as the fact that Robin was still alive settled in. As long as he was alive, then finding him should be the only issue now. The confirmation I had been praying for had finally come. But at what cost? “Wait,” I rushed out, walking over to grab the letter from Aries’s hands. I looked over it one more time before letting it fall to the floor. “He didn’t make any demands,” I breathed, my chest tightening. “He didn’t ask for anything in exchange for Robin… why?” I asked, looking around before my eyes finally settled on Aries. “It’s unlike him, don’t you think?” “That must mean he has something else planned,” Lucian muttered before Aries could speak. “Seems like his letter was just to inform us that he currently has the upper hand. That’s all,” he finished. I let out another breath, mentally going through what was written in the letter once again to che

My eyes had been open for close to thirty minutes since I woke up, but I just lay there unable to move even a muscle. Laying in our room filled with his scent made the dulling pain in my heart hurt even more. My wolf wasn’t even fighting to come out anymore. He was curled in a corner, just whimpering and mourning the loss of his mate… the shattering of his bond. He seemed to be trying to make peace with the fact that Robin could actually be gone, that he was actually dead. But me… I could never believe that. No, I couldn’t accept that fact even if the gaping hole in my chest told me otherwise. Not until I saw his body with my own two eyes. Only then would I believe in the cruelty of the moon goddess, taking my mate away from me before we even had the chance to live as normally as we wanted. So until then, I was going to do all I could not to lose myself. I would push all the pain deep into my heart and use it as fuel to begin this search for Manuel. I had to find him myself

  • The Broken Beta’s Redemption    Chapter 134

Robin’s POV Pain. That was the only thing that filled my head the moment I was finally able to force my eyes open. It wasn’t the sharpest kind of pain. It was dull… so dull that it settled in the pit of my core, tugging at me from within. I hissed lightly as I tried to sit up, only to be pulled back down by iron chains. An unsteady breath escaped me as I tried to get comfortable on the cold floor while my eyes scanned the dark room. I couldn’t make anything out at first, but my eyes adjusted to the lack of lighting in no time. The room was barely even standing, and that poignant smell of rot filled the place like it had been abandoned for years. My head and chest throbbed even more as I recounted what led to me being here… Rex. The rogues. The mention of Manuel. And… me snapping my bond with Julian. That was what that unending dull pain and hollowness was. My chest tightened even more as I thought of it, and my breathing almost ceased from the guilt and pain that rushed

“What do you mean Manuel?” I asked again, even his name sounding bitter on my tongue. “I heard the rogues talking,” Rex said tightly, “and they mentioned his name. There’s no way I misheard that,” she finished firmly. I pushed past the pain and forced myself to my feet, the gaping hole left by our shattered bond now filled with indescribable rage as I repeated his name once again. “Manuel.” My legs struggled to remain standing, but I couldn’t fall. Not now when we knew he was still out there causing harm. Not when Robin could be with him. “Robin’s not dead,” Damon muttered suddenly, stepping forward, and my eyes snapped to him immediately. “If this was really done by Manuel, then I’m certain Robin isn’t dead yet,” he added, firmer now. “They would have no need to take the body if he was. Leaving him dead and on display for us to grieve over is more of Manuel’s style,” he finished, squatting over where the trail of blood lay. He reached out and touched it lightly before bringi

Pain. That was all I felt as I struggled to run toward the direction Rex had come from, her screams still echoing in the night air. It felt like my heart was being torn into a million pieces with every single step I took. My wolf howled inside me, a sound of pure agony, as the bond that had weaved itself into the very fabric of our soul, the bond that had been nothing but comfort and light—shattered into absolute nothingness. I couldn’t even take more than a few steps through the rising chaos before my legs buckled, and I collapsed onto the dirt, tears blinding my vision. My hands clawed at my chest as if i could somehow hold the pieces of my soul together, but no relief came. Absolutely nothing. "Robin..." I choked out, my voice breaking under the weight of a sorrow i could barely bear. I clawed at the sand, the sounds of the celebration completely fading into a dull silence. "Robin, please..." I begged, hoping, praying that by some twisted miracle our bond would weave itself bac

By the time I stepped out and forced my way through the crowd, my mouth hung open at the sight in front of me… damn it, Damon really caused trouble.“Now this isn’t a sight I thought I’d see today,” Robin chirped from beside me with a low chuckle. The Alpha of the pack was lying on the floor, cover

Robin’s POVI didn’t get to take in and feel my kiss with Julian the way I wanted to. I was stuck in a room with Lucian again. Not that I minded, but he, on the other hand, had spent the last thirty minutes whining about how he never got to stay alone. I watched as he paced the room, still mumbling to himself, and a laugh escaped me almost every few seconds. He was overly goofy the
