(Selene’s POV)

I hurried after Marcus, trying to match his long strides as we moved down the hallway. My voice faltering as I called out.

“Marcus, can we… can we continue the search for Casper?”

He didn’t slow down at first, but his shoulders tensed. After a moment, he came to a stop, turning to face me. His eyes were hard, and I knew he had a lot in his mind right now, but my conscience was telling me to do this. If something happen’s to Casper, I don’t think I’ll be able to forgive myself.

“Selene, listen. Things are difficult as it is right now. Sending warriors into unknown territory to look for a kid would only mean risking their lives. As the leader, I can’t let that happen. I hope you understand. So please, go rest and don’t go around making troubles.”
