(Selene’s POV)

The Elven Capital was quieter than I expected.

People were watching us as we walked down the pathway.

Though they didn't do it openly, elves rarely stared since for them it's a sign of disrespect, but I felt their attention like a pressure against my skin. Whispers followed behind us as we passed.

Fenrir walked slightly ahead of me now, his shoulders relaxed and his posture straight. He looked different here.

His aura even became more domineering than it already is.

I stayed close to him since I was starting to get creeped out from all the attentuion we were getting.

The guards led us toward a large structure at the heart of the capital. It wasn’t a palace exactly. It was circular, built around a massive living tree whose roots broke through the stone floor and climbed the walls. Crystal veins ran through the bark, pulsing softly.

“The Council Hall,” Winter whispered. “Subtle.”

“Nothing about this place is subtle,” Gabriel replied quietly.

We stopped at the entrance. Th

  • The Broken Luna Returns   The First Mark

The mark didn’t appear when I expected it to. It wasn’t during traininG, nor did it appear during the early signs of grave danger. It appeared when I was calm. I was sitting alone in the inner garden, barefoot on cold stone, watching the water lilies drift across the reflecting pool. . I breathed in. Then out. And felt something settle inside me. A warmth bloomed beneath my skin, just below my collarbone. Not painful. Not violent. Intentional. I pressed my fingers there. The symbol emerged slowly, like ink seeping through parchment—thin lines of silver light forming a shape I somehow recognized without knowing why. A chain. Open at one end. My breath caught. “Selene.” Fenrir’s voice was careful. Controlled. I looked up. He stood at the edge of the garden, eyes fixed on my chest, expression unreadable. “I didn’t do anything,” I said quickly. “I wasn’t trying to—” “I know,” he interrupted softly. He stepped closer, kneeling in front of me without hesitation, without

  • The Broken Luna Returns   Eyes That Stays Awake

(Selene’s POV)I couldn’t sleep again.I sat by the window of the guest chamber, my knees pulled close to my chest, watching the glow of the city reflect against the clouds. Somewhere beneath all that beauty, I knew there were eyes watching, measuring, waiting to attack us at the right moment.“You’re thinking too loudly,” Fenrir said behind me.I startled slightly, then relaxed. “Is it your habit to scare me?”“No,” he replied calmly. “You’re just easy to read when you’re worried, and you startle easily.”I glanced back. He was leaning against the doorway, his arms crossed, hair loose tonight, as he wore a simple dark tunic night dress. He didn't look like a prince, more like a guardian.“I don’t like being the reason people are afraid,” I said quietly.Fenrir stepped closer. “Fear doesn’t always come from hatred. Sometimes it comes from memory.”“That’s not reassuring.”He smiled faintly. “I didn’t say it was.”A soft knock interrupted us.Fenrir stiffened instantly. “Who is it?”

  • The Broken Luna Returns   Threads In The Open

(Selene’s POV)During our stay I could tell that in the midst of our plan, someone was spying on us.The Elven Capital was bustling even at night, but then it all stopped.I noticed it while standing on the balcony outside the guest quarters, wrapped in my cloak. The lanterns still glowed, floating lazily in the air, but the wind had gone unnaturally still. The leaves didn’t rustle. The city felt like it was holding its breath.Fenrir felt it too.He stepped beside me, his ears twitching slightly, eyes scanning the shadows below. “Something’s wrong.”“I know,” I whispered. “It’s quiet. Strangely too quiet."Behind us, Winter poked his head out the door. “Okay, I don’t like that look on both your faces.”Before either of us could respond, a sharp pulse rippled through the air—subtle, almost invisible, but it brushed against my senses like cold fingers.I flinched.Fenrir’s hand was on his sword instantly. “That wasn’t elven magic.”Gabriel appeared from the stairwell, tablet already ac

  • The Broken Luna Returns   What Wakes When Remembered

(Selene’s POV)The Loom Chamber didn’t release us all at once. The light faded slowly, like breath leaving a body. The warmth around my skin lingered even after the platform went still, as if the magic didn’t want to let me go yet.I stepped back, legs unsteady.Fenrir was there instantly, hands on my arms—not gripping, not restraining. Just there. Anchoring.“You’re here,” he said softly. Not a question.“I am,” I answered. And for the first time since all of this began, I meant it without doubt.Aestra watched me closely, her expression unreadable. The other council members stood farther back, murmuring in low voices, uneasy now that the truth had surfaced in a way they could no longer control.“You remember,” one of them said. “Or at least fragments of your past, correct?”“Yes,” I replied. “Enough for me to know.”Fenrir’s gaze flicked to them, sharp. “Then speak plainly. What happens now?”Aestra gestured, and the council members slowly withdrew, leaving only her, Gabriel, Winter

  • The Broken Luna Returns   Threads That Were Cut

(Selene’s POV)They gave us a wing of the capital reserved for “guests.”It was a polite word but a careful one. It means that we were protected only to the extent they would give a guest of their own, but if we do something unruly, then they wouldn't be afraid to treat us like any other enemies. The rooms were beautiful, there's an arched windows, pale stone floors warmed by hidden magic, curtains woven with silver thread that shifted softly when the light changed. But the doors were heavily guarded. “They’re not keeping us safe,” Fenrir murmured once the guards withdrew down the corridor. “They’re making sure we don’t wander and cause them trourble.”I sat on the edge of the bed, fingers curling into the fabric. “Can you blame them?”“No,” he said honestly. Then, softer, “But I don’t like it.”Neither did I.The city outside the window glowed as evening settled in. Lanterns lit one by one among the trees, magic flowing through the roots beneath the streets. It was calm on the surfa
