FAZER LOGINPOV: Vivian
The whole room blew up with whispers. "Beta Marcus's daughter?" "Is she crazy? Selling herself to another pack?" My father stomped over to me, his face twisted with rage. He grabbed my arm so hard his fingers dug into my muscle, pulling me into the dark alley between two storehouses. "Are you out of your mind?" he hissed, leaning close to my ear. "You're embarrassing me in front of everyone!" I pulled my arm out of his grip and glared at him. I used to be scared of his anger. Now, looking at him, I felt nothing but disgust. "I raised my hand, Father. It's done." "You will take your name back right now!" he barked. "Lori and I have plans for this family! You are ruining everything!" "I know all about your plans," I whispered back, staring right into his eyes. "I stood outside your study, Father. I know about the new house. I know about Lori. And I know about the cheap hospital cot you're leaving Mom on." His jaw dropped. For a second, pure panic flashed across his face. He’s a coward, I realized. He only acts big when he's stepping on people who can't fight back. But his face quickly got mean again. Before he could raise his hand to hit me, the Blood River elder walked down from the stage with a clipboard. "Vivian," the elder said, looking at me with cold eyes. "You know the rules? If you get picked, you move to the Blood River estate right away. You can't talk to your family until the baby is born. And you get no title." "I understand," I said. "Where do I sign up for the medical check?" "In the side room," the elder said, handing me a blue paper. "Tomorrow morning at eight." I took the paper without looking at my father. He can shake with anger all he wants, but he won't stop me. He's too terrified of a public scandal. I walked outside into the cold air. My heart was pounding like a hammer. "Vivian! Wait!" I turned around and saw Sarah running down the steps. She grabbed my shoulders, her eyes wide. "Are you crazy?" Sarah gasped. "Do you know what people are calling you? They’re calling you a whore! You're Beta's daughter, Vivian. No guy in this pack will ever want you after this." "I don't care about getting a mate, Sarah," I said flatly. A mate? Look at what my father did to my mother. Why would I ever want a male to have that kind of power over me? "What about the physical part?" she asked, her hands shaking. "You have to sleep with Alpha Gideon! For real. Until you get pregnant! He’s a total stranger! He… has a wife!" A sick feeling hit my stomach, making my throat tight. The thought of a stranger touching me made my skin crawl. But then I pictured my mother gasping for air on a metal cot. "My mother is dying, Sarah. My father sold our house to live with his stupid mistress, and he's leaving Mom to die. Toby will be forced into the iron mines by next week. I need that money." Sarah went quiet, her hands dropping off my shoulders. "Your father... he's really doing that?" "Yes," I said. "So I don't care what anyone calls me. I'm going to that checkup tomorrow." I walked home in the dark. The house was cold and silent when I stepped inside. Suddenly, Toby stood up from the kitchen table, slamming his fists on the wood. "Is it true?" he screamed, his voice cracking. "The whole town is talking! Did you really offer to be a surrogate for Blood River?" "Keep your voice down, Toby. Mom is sleeping," I said, taking off my coat. "Answer me!" he shouted, coming closer, his eyes red. "How could you do this to us? Everyone at the training grounds was laughing in my face! Saying my sister is selling her body because we're broke!" "We ARE broke, Toby!" I yelled back. Why couldn't he see it? Why was he worrying about his pride when our world was burning? "There is zero money left for Mom's medicine! How do you think we're going to pay for your school next week? We aren't!" "I don't want your dirty money!" Toby spat, tears running down his face. "I'd rather work in the mines! I'd rather die than have you ruin your life for me!" "It's not just for you! It's for Mom!" I shouted back. "Stop it! Both of you!" We both froze. My mother was standing in the doorway, holding onto the frame so she wouldn't fall, pale as a sheet. "Mom," I said softly, stepping toward her. "You should be in bed." "Vivian..." she sobbed, tears cutting through the dirt on her skin. She fell to her knees, coughing hard. "Tell me it's a lie... tell me you didn't do this..." I ran to her, getting on the cold floor and wrapping my arms around her frail body. She cried against my shoulder, and every tear felt like salt in an open wound. Toby looked at me with pure disgust. "You ruined everything," he whispered meanly. "You're disgusting, Vivian. A disgraced, shameless whore." He slammed the door shut and ran out into the night. That word hit me right in the chest. Whore. From my own brother. The brother I was destroying my dignity to save. I held my mother while she cried. Let him hate me, I thought, staring at the blank wall as my own tears dried into a tight mask on my face. Let the whole world call me names. I’m going through with this.VIVIAN POVBy late morning, I had packed my air to a bun shape at the back, breathing the dust air in. The sun casted Golden light shadows across my hair and face.I decided not to be a baggage, atleast be useful to a pack that will someday help me financiallly to deal with my father and his concubine. Lori. The thought of that name alone made my breath hitched. There were guards walking around the corridor area at the east cottage kitchen. I forced a smile on my face. The goal is to keep my head down. Never allow them think you're desperate to sleep with a king who has a wife.No one even looked my way. i lowered my head down. as i stepped into the kitchen. One of the packs maid Nora carried a basket on her hands attached to her waist body. In it were groceries and bread. laundry clothes too. who puts laundry clothes inside a grocery basket. I pondered. Her eyes swept past me with full disgust the moment she sighted me. like i was a problem she needed to solve. She budged me with he
POV: VivianI sat on the edge of the bed for hours, listening to the wind howl through the pine trees outside. The cottage door was still standing wide open from where Gideon had kicked it open and sprinted out into the night. Cold rain blew across the wooden floorboards, extinguishing the fireplace until the room was pitch black and freezing. My hands trembled as I pulled my torn dress off and changed into my spare clothes in the dark.I felt completely dirty. My skin still burned where his hands had gripped my waist, where his mouth had pressed against my neck, and where his broad body had weighed me down into the mattress. What made it worse, what made my stomach twist into a sickening knot, was that my body had actually reacted to him. My wolf had stirred for a stranger who didn't give a damn about me.He loves his wife, I told myself, staring into the dark. He almost had sex with me out of duty, and the second she stopped breathing, he ran to her like his whole world was ending. I
POV: Vivian The cottage on the edge of the Blood River territory was warm, dark, and quiet. Outside, two guards stood watch in the rain. Inside, the fire crackled in the fireplace, painting the heavy wooden bed in orange light. I sat on the edge of the soft mattress. My heart was pounding like a hammer against my ribs. This is it, I thought, my hands gripping my knees. This is where the contract actually begins. The front door unlocked with a heavy click. Gideon walked into the bedroom. He had taken off his dark leather jacket, wearing only a black fitted shirt with the sleeves pushed up his arms. He looked massive in the small room. His dark, cold hazel eyes locked straight onto me. Neither of us said a word. The air felt…heavy, like a storm about to break. "The healers said tonight is the right time," Gideon said. His voice was low, rough, and thick with tension. "I know," I whispered. My throat felt bone dry. He walked over to the bed, unbuckling his heavy belt and dropping
POV: Vivian The next three days were a total nightmare. My mother’s cough got way worse. She lay in bed all day staring at the ceiling, barely drinking the soup I made her. Toby came home once, packed a small bag of clothes without looking at me, and left again. Every time I looked at his empty bed, my chest hurt, but I held onto my resolve. *** On Thursday afternoon, I was in the kitchen boiling water when the front door slammed open. My father walked in. But he wasn't alone. Lori was right behind him, carrying a bag and wearing a fancy fur coat my mother could never afford. "What is this?" I demanded, stepping out of the kitchen. "Pack your bags, Vivian," my father said, his face red from drinking. He didn't look me in the eye. "I sold the house today. The new owner moves in on Monday." "You did what?" I whispered, my stomach dropping. I knew it was coming, but seeing him actually do it made my blood run cold. "Mom is in the next room! She can barely walk!" "She ca
POV: Vivian The study was huge, filled with tall bookshelves and dark wood walls. Sitting behind a massive desk at the far end was Alpha Gideon. He was even bigger than I imagined. Broad shoulders, sharp jaw, and short dark hair. But his eyes were what caught me a cold, piercing hazel that felt like stepping into an ice-cold river. Next to his chair stood an old advisor and Beta Marcus, who shut the door behind me. Gideon didn't get up. He sat back in his big leather chair, his eyes moving down my simple grey dress, taking in my muddy boots and plain hair. His face didn't show a single emotion. "Vivian," Gideon said. His voice was low and heavy with natural authority. "Daughter of Beta Marcus from the border pack." "Yes, Alpha," I said, keeping my voice steady. I didn't bow. I didn't look down at the floor. I might be selling my time, but I am not begging him. "The healers say your health is great," he said, opening a thin folder on his desk. "Your wolf is stable. But your situa
POV: Vivian The medical checkup the next morning was awful. For two hours, three old healers from the Blood River pack checked me over. They drew blood from my arm, poked my stomach, and checked my heart. They talked about my body like I was a horse at an auction ground. "Strong bones," the main healer said, writing on her board. "Bloodline is pure Beta. Her wolf is quiet because she's stressed, but she's totally healthy." "She’ll work," the second healer agreed, wiping her hands. "Send the paper to Beta Marcus." I pulled my plain shirt back on and buttoned it up with cold fingers. I felt hollowed out, like my body wasn't even mine anymore. It was just a machine they were testing before buying. But I didn't say a single word. I just wanted to get out of there. When I got back home at noon, the house was dead quiet. My mother was lying in bed with her eyes closed. She wasn't sleeping, but she didn't look at me when I walked in. The silence from her hurt worse than any insult Toby
