Chapter three

Vesper’s POV 

“Run!!!”, I heard a loud and painful voice behind me as I stood in the middle of an unknown place staring at the fire burning angrily in front of me. I don’t know what I am looking for or why I chose to stay there despite the danger right in front of me, but I still stayed. 

The fire burning looked like a moving one because it kept coming closer to me. 

“Elowen, you need to leave now”, the voice said again and I turned back to see a tall man standing in the woods. I faced the man  to see who was talking to me but I could not see who the man was. “I am waiting for you. Come to me”, he said again and this time, I lifted my feet and moved away from my spot but before I could lift the second, the fire covered me completely. 

“Nooooo!!!”, the man screamed as I burned away in the fire. 

“Ahhhh!!”I screamed in agony and my eyes opened immediately. It was all a dream. 

 I sat upright with my hand clamped around my throat. For the first few seconds, I couldn’t move or say anything. The scream of the man still echoed in my head. 

“What was that about?”, I muttered and used the tip of the gown I was wearing to clean the beads of sweat forming on my forehead. 

The morning brightness slipped in through the window and I stood up immediately. 

“Elowen”, I replayed the voice of the man I met at the war front again in my head and I immediately saw that it sounded the same as the voice of the man in my dream just now. 

“What?” I wondered. “Why is this man in my dream and who is Elowen?”, I muttered again, totally confused. “I will deal with that later, I need to go now”, I said again and entered the bathroom for a quick bath. 

I spent about an hour in the bathroom because after we returned from the Lunaris pack yesterday, I didn’t have a good bath to wash the filthiness off my body. 

Knock! Knock! Knock! 

“Come in”, I said and sat down on the chair in my room ready to see whoever it is that is knocking on the door. Oh, Fepris. What…Why are…What are you doing here?”I asked, squeezing my face lightly. “I was not expecting to see you here since we have a meeting right now”, I said again with my face still squeezed and my hand placed on the table. 

“Good morning queen”, he greeted and bowed slightly, his hands tied at his back. “I just came to check on you and see how you are fairing”, he said and raised his head slightly

“What do you mean by that?”, I asked, getting annoyed already. “Why do you have to check up on me?”, I added and stood up from the chair I was sitting on. “Who gave you the effrontery to be in my room and spew out nonsense about checking up on me? Are you crazy?” I screamed at the top of my voice. 

“I… I just… Uhmmm….”, he stammered. 

“Speak up now before I force you to do that”, I shouted and banged my hand on the table loudly. Fepris didn’t flinch or move from where he was standing and that alone annoyed me. 

“I just wanted to see how you are faring…. I didn’t mean to annoy you”, he said and bowed his head again. 

“Why did you think you are in the best position to do that?”I asked again but this time, I decided to be calm because thinking about it, Fepris is not the kind of person to come in like that with such a silly excuse. 

“Because I brought you here”, he replied. 

“What?”, I said and immediately, fragments of memories played in my head. My eyes bulged when I finally got the full memory of all that happened yesterday at the Lunaris pack. 

“Did you hear that man call me Elowen?”, I asked and he nodded. 

“He called you Elowen and also called you Luna. Queen I think you need to find out what he means by that”, he said. 

“I think so too”, I replied. “Let’s meet at the training field, we need a strategy to attack them again, I am not stopping the plans to destroy them totally", I added and he bowed before strolling out of the room. 

I walked out of the room too and started walking to the training field. 

“Woww, didn’t know I would be meeting you here at this time”, a voice that I know who it belonged to said behind me. 

“I can sense the irony in that”, I smirked. “I know what you want to talk about and I am not ready for it”, I added and walked to the middle of the field with him beside me. 

“All hail the queen of the rogues and the Beta of this great pack”, Fepris announced our presence and they all bowed. 

“We hail you!!!!”.

“All rise!!!”I ordered and sat down on the chair that had been prepared for me. 

“As we all know that we couldn’t accomplish our goal of totally destroying the Lunaris pack yesterday”, I started, “we have to make new plans now to make sure that we do not give up our plan…. Let the training start and the new date for the attack will be communicated once I have made my decision”, I added and stood up to leave the field. 

“I don’t think you should leave like that, Vesper”, Darius said and I stopped. “We ought to know your plans and whatever it is that is going through your mind. You owe us”, he added. 

“Hahahaha”, I laughed and held the wall for balance. “I owe you, for waht exactly Darius? Because you saved my life or because you made me the queen of the rogues in this pack?”, I asked, moving close to him. 

“Calm down queen, I’m sure we can settle this some other way”, Fepris said and tried to me down. “Get off”, I screamed and a supernatural force from me blew him away. 

“Darius…… Darius….. Let this be the last time you call me to remind me about saving my life. It might bebetter you kill me instead”, I muttered and left the fight angrily. 

“Protect the queen”, one of the rogues screamed and I turned back to see that we were being attacked. 

“Yahhhhh”, thousands of wolves entered the field and I was dumbfounded for a minute. Without wasting time, I transformed into my wolf form. Ava is a large and silver-white wolf with silver-grey eyes. 

“Haaaaa”, I screamed as long nails and claws extended through my fingers and claws. “Roar”, an animalistic roar tore through my throat and I bounced back into the field determined to make the wolves that had the effrontery to attack us like this regret their decision. 

Without any consideration, I tore the skin of one of the wolves I could reach. “Hmmm”, I moaned as I chewed on the skin. Because of the more sensitive smelling ability of my wolf, I was interrupted. 

“Ash….. Is that you?”, I heard the same voice again. The one from the man in my dream and the one from the man I met at the Luanris pack but this time, it was in the form of his wolf….. I guess. 

I turned back immediately and saw a huge wolf running towards me. His smell was familiar but I didn’t know how and why. 

But my mind reacted before my body and I also ran towards the huge wolf. 

“My mate”, I screamed like I have been waiting for years.
