Chapter four

Xavier’s POV 

“Oh my goodness… what happened to you?”Mira asked immediately as I entered the palace grounds that night. “I told you, I warned you about it….. Why would I go ahead to do something like that without proper planning?”, she said again while checking my body like I am a kid. 

“I know but I don’t regret it”, I murmured. 

“What….. Where is the Alpha and brother I used to know”, she snapped. “I have never met this person you are talking about but I am so sure that she can never be Elowen”, she added and I looked up immediately. 

“I know what I saw Mira and I am convinced that she is my wife…. She had the same tattoo, she looked the same….”, I snapped angrily but I was cut short brutally by her. 

“But her personality is different”, she snapped angrily. “Everyone can get a tattoo….. You need to get back on track, I miss the Alpha of this pack”, she added and left the room angrily, banging the door behind her. 

“Uhmmmm”, I moaned painfully as I sat down on the chair beside me. I closed my eyes slowly as the memories of what happened flooded my mind.

FLASHBACK 

“My mate”, I heard her scream from where she was standing and she began running to me. “Even her wolf form can’t deny the fact that she is mine and will always belong to me”, I thought to myself and smiled. 

As I stared at her running towards me, I totally forgot about the chaos that was happening, all I wanted was just to have her beside me. 

Knock! Knock! Knock!

The knock interrupted my thoughts and I flinched slightly on the chair I was sitting on. “Uhmm…. Come….in….come in”, I stammered and hurriedly sat down on my own chair in the office. 

The door opened slowly and my eyes widened when I saw the person that came in. “What…. What…. are ….. What are you …..doing here?”, I asked without trying to hide the shock on my face. “You didn’t…. I mean…. I didn’t know you would be coming here”, I added and adjusted myself on the chair. 

“Are you that surprised?”, Elder Cassian, the senior royal council member said as calm as ever as he entered the room properly. 

“That didn’t answer my question, Cassian”, I said, placing my hand on the table in front of me slowly, “Why are you here?”, I asked. “Because the last time I checked, you have to tell me before coming into my…..space!!”, I slammed. 

“I am sorry about that my lord, I just have something really important to discuss with you”, he said calmly and bowed his head slightly. 

“”Tskkkk”, I scoffed. “What do you want to talk about that is more important than following the rules that has been laid down for years?”, I asked, still squeezing my face for him to know that I am not pleased with his visit. 

“Bring it on and have your seat”, I said and rested my back on my chair. 

“Thank you”, he muttered and pulled back the chair in front of him before sitting down. “I am sorry for interrupting your lone moment my lord but there is something I heard that I am not so pleased with”, he said. 

I squeezed my face and rolled my eyes slightly, “what could that be?”, I asked and he sighed. 

“It is about the anonymous attack we had a few days ago”, he started and I held my gaze with him, “we were able to capture the face of the woman that led the rogues and…..”. 

“You did?”, I said without even noticing the excitement in my voice. 

“Uhmm… ye..yes..yes my lord”, he replied and now it is his turn to squeeze his face. 

“Good… what do you think about her?”I asked and stretched closer to him. “Does she look like someone you know?”, I asked again. 

“What… what do you mean by that my lord?”, he asked and I sighed. 

“That woman is Elowen”, I said and I couldn’t miss the shock on his face. “That is my wife”, I added and he slammed the table in front of me, making me flinch. 

What do you mean by that my lord?!”, he said, “I thought Alaric was bluffing when he told me that is why I decided to confirm myself”, he added and I blinked severally, trying to understand what he just said. 

“What do you mean Cassian?......”what did you just say?!”, I slammed. 

“I…..I… It’s….. He”, he stammered and a weak laugh escaped my throat. 

“Did you see her face or not?”, I asked and before he got the chance to answer, the door to the office opened and Alaric entered. 

“I heard you went to the wolfbane pack today”, he dropped the bomb immediately he entered. “Why would you do that without thinking it is proper to inform the council members?”, he asked and I scoffed. 

“Tskkk… you think I have to tell y’all about the things I want to do and wait for you to approve it”, I said, “as long as…..I am the Alpha of this pack ... .I do not.. I repeat… I do not need anybody’s approval to do whatever I think is the right thing…. Do you understand?”, I slammed, trying my best to return the same energy he came in with. 

“No I don’t”, he replied and I squeezed my face. “You went to the wolfbane pack, risked your life and the life of the pack soldiers with you and you think that is the right thing for you to do?!!

“I need you to come back to your senses man…… ever since you’ve bluffed sh*t about seeing Elowen, you have not been thinking straight”, he slammed.  

“And that is because I need her”, I replied.

“No, you don’t”, he shouted. “You do not need anybody before you can function as the Alpha of this pack”, he said and as I was about to reply to him, I was interrupted by the noise that was coming from the pack gates. 

“What is that about?”, Cassian muttered and moved closer to the window to see what was going on. 

“There is a problem”, he said. 

“What?’, Alaric and I shouted and moved closer to the window. 

“Shit”, I muttered and ran out of the office with Alaric behind me.
