LOGINDennis's ears were still ringing when he walked into his house later that day.
It was noon and he had just returned from the hospital. His mother was asleep as usual because of the medication but he hadn't even been able to focus on anything except Alex's crazy proposal.
He would have thought it was a prank if Alex hadn’t looked so serious and he knew him well enough to know he didn't kid around when it came to important issues.
Dennis had always had an image in his head of the kind of married life he hoped to have one day.
His girlfriend, Stacey, was the woman of his dreams and they had been dating for two years already.
He had plans of proposing to her recently but with his mother’s failing health, he had been too distracted.
Perhaps this thing with Alex was the sign he needed to remind him that he needed to do something fast.
Alex's proposal was absurd and completely insane. Who would believe he was suddenly into men when he had a thing for women that even his parents were aware of?
It just didn't make sense.
Dennis stopped in his tracks as his legs kicked something. Looking down, he found a pair of a lady's heels on the ground and bent to pick it up.
He frowned as he examined the shoe. Had Stacey been drinking again? Why would she leave her things lying around like that?
Was her boss giving her a tough time at work again? He picked up his pace and rushed towards the stairs that would lead to his room where he knew she'd be.
He stopped at the bottom stairs when he saw several items of clothing littered everywhere.
His eyes narrowed as he saw a man's shirt. He picked it up, examined it and his jaw clenched. It didn’t belong to him.
Stacey wouldn't…he thought but as he got closer to his room, his heart sank to the pit of his stomach as he found more items of clothing belonging to a man.
He opened the door to his room and leaned against it, his eyes wide in shock at the scene before him.
Stacey was on her knees while a man stood above her with his hands on her head and her mouth on his….
Dennis screamed and looked away, anger pulsing in his veins.
The two who hadn't noticed him before pulled away at the sound of his scream.
“Dennis?” Stacey's voice came out unsure and her eyes widened in horror as realization dawned on her.
“What is the meaning of this?” Dennis asked as he turned to face them again.
Thankfully, the man had the decency to cover his dick with his hands since his clothes were all around the house.
“Dennis, I swear it's not what it looks like…”
Dennis laughed, the sound dark and humourless. “It's not?” Was she really going to lie about what he had just seen?
There was a man naked in their bedroom for pete sake.
“Dennis please…” Stacey begged as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
Dennis ignored her and turned to the man who was still standing there. “Why are you still here?”
He tossed the shirt in his hand at him and stormed down the stairs with Stacey running after him.
“D please, I can explain. Please don't be mad at me.”
Dennis stopped at the bottom step and Stacey bumped into him, his movement catching her by surprise. “Get out of my house Stacey.”
“Dennis please I'm sorry. It was a mistake, please D.”
Dennis squeezed his eyes shut as tears threatened to roll down his cheeks.
Was this the woman he had been planning to marry? The woman of his dreams?
How long had she been cheating on him?
“D please just hear me out.” She begged, crouching at his feet.
Dennis kicked her away as he walked back into the living room.
Just as he sat down on one of the sofas, she was at his feet again, begging and crying.
“Please D, it was a mistake. I was stressed from work and you know how my boss has been giving me a tough time so…”
“So you decided to cheat on me.” He finished for her and looked down, meeting her eyes. “That's your explanation?”
His eyes were like little red coals and she shivered.
“Get out of my sight Stacey. Now!” He added when she still wouldn't move.
Stacey jumped to her feet and ran off.
Dennis leaned into the sofa as tears clouded his vision. His heart was in pieces and he was finding it hard to breathe.
His phone buzzed in his pocket and he pulled it out, his eyes misty.
A text from Alex had come in and he dreaded what it might be.
He tossed the phone aside but his finger mistakenly clicked on the message and it opened.
Have you had time to think about it? It read.
Dennis scoffed.
What was wrong with the man? Did he expect him to make such an important decision in a short amount of time?
It had only been a few hours since he made the insane proposal so how did he expect him to come up with an answer so soon?
Footsteps behind him pulled him out of his thoughts and he turned to find Stacey and the man he had caught her with strolling down the stairs.
Rage so hot spread throughout his body and he jumped to his feet.
“I said get out!” He yelled and they ran towards the door, slamming into it in their haste.
He hissed and stormed towards them. Opening the door, he shoved them both out and slammed the door.
Suddenly the tears he had been holding back began rolling down his cheeks and this time he didn’t stop it.
He slid to the ground and buried his head in his hands. Never in his wildest dreams would he have imagined that Stacey would treat him like this.
His phone pinged from the sofa where he had left it and he looked up, his eyes bloodshot from crying.
Alex wanted a husband? He would give him a husband. He slid off the ground and walked towards the sofa.
Picking up his phone, he began to type out a response.

Lyon’s pov“Then you deal with it as a point of avenging your family, all right? Not going ahead to be the first to throw the first punch. If you hit him first, you might lose that hand. Let him be. Don’t think of him. Paul hasn’t explicitly threatened you. Everything he has done has been for the good of the company and for his own business.“I know that he is not the best person to be around right now. And believe me, it’s coming from me. I hate him. I hate his wife. And seriously, I hate his kid. I confronted her the other day.”“Wait, you confronted her?”“Yes, before the family gala. I just wanted to tell her to stay away from Alex because I was thinking she had something to do with the newspaper thing that was happening to Alex and Dennis.”“I knew it,” I cut in. “I had the same suspicion, but I didn’t know that it was Sophia. My mind was going to Paul.”“Yeah, that whole family is weird, but let’s push that aside right now. Let’s focus on the thing that is here. We can decide to
Lyon’s pov“The meeting we had… it wasn’t really a pleasant one. Paul already knows that you’re out to get him. He knows that anything he says could have him removed from the board meeting, and he’s trying his best to make sure he stays. He’s clinging on. No matter what you throw at him, he’s not going to budge, and he has more than seventy percent of the board on his side. It’s a losing game.”If I didn’t have the amount of shares I had in my company, I would have lost everything to Paul. But I was glad that I had enough money to still remain the top shareholder in my own company.“Well, it was a waste coming here, I guess. I just wanted to know if there was something we could do.”“We can, but not now. We can either sit and relax, have a drink and move on, or waste our time chasing after shadows. Paul is not stupid, so if you try investigating him, you’ll come up empty.”I got to my feet. “Thanks for the drink. I’ll be leaving now.”I was about to pay for it, but then he tapped the
Lyon’s pov“I’d like to stop here,” I said to my driver, who was puzzled by it. He hesitated before slowing down in traffic.“Sir?”“Just park along the curb,” I said.“But sir, there’s a bar here. We’re not allowed to park unless we want to patronize them.”“That’s why I want to get out,” I said.He nodded and parked the car as I got out before the security guard could show up to tell us to move on. He saw me and bowed.“Is he inside?”“Yes.”He stepped back as I walked into the bar. It wasn’t rowdy this time. It was calm, and business had not started. There were a few patrons there, but they were not serious like how it was every single night.I walked to an empty cubicle to see him drinking. He was one of the board members, and he saw me and folded his arms.“Well look who decided to show up.”I smiled, sitting across from him. “Hello, Thomas. How has it been?”He shrugged. “I don’t know. What about you? You seem to be having a little trouble with the office.”“Tell me about it. I’
Alex’s pov“What is it?” I asked him.“You have to pick up the call.”I shook my head. “No, I’m not doing that.”“Come on. You can’t keep pushing away your dad. At some point, you are going to pick up his call, and you are going to talk to him.”“No,” I said, shaking my head. “I’m not doing that. Look, all my dad has done has been to cause me problems and pain for as long as I can remember. And now you’re telling me that I need to pick up his call? And for what? What’s he going to do for me? Please.”I really wanted to argue with Dennis at this point, but it looked like he had already given up on any arguments. He just wanted peace at this point.“Fine,” I said.I then picked up the call, and I heard his voice.“Are you home?”“Yes, Dad, I am.”“All right. I’m on the interstate highway. I’ll soon be there.”“Interstate highway? Where are you going?”“It doesn’t matter. I’ll be there soon.”He cut the call as I leaned bacj and looked at Dennis who got to his feet.“I’ll have to clean u
Alex’s pov“Maybe with a cloak next time? I’m tired of the same old black suit.”I laughed. “You’re being serious?” I said when I noticed that he was not smiling at all.“I am. We’re billionaires. Let’s turn the gala into something with fashionable dresses. Women are always the ones who are wearing fashionable clothes. Men just wear the same suit. Let me be very honest, you can wear the same suit for every single gala for ten years and nobody will know that it’s the same suit. They keep on thinking that you have enough money to throw getting black suits, but let’s be honest. We all know that so many people can repeat clothes in galas, especially the men. The women… it’s quite difficult. Wearing the same jewelry alone will get a lot of people wondering whether you have money or not.”“So you want a fashion show.”He shrugged. “It is a gala. We can try. And I wish it was a movie so that we can have our own music montage and show where we come out and change and stuff like that.”I laugh
Sophia’s pov“It’s Lydia.”“Uh, what do you want? Money? Cash inflow doesn’t really grow from trees, you know.”“Yes, it does,” she laughed. “Anyway, I’m not calling for that. I’m just calling to know the next move.”I thought about what my father said and sighed. “There is no next move.”“What do you mean there’s no next move?” she gasped. She was already panicking. “We need to do something! The media is dry… they need news!”“I’m taking care of it, Lydia.”“I feel like you’re just laying down in your couch not doing anything but staring at your nails.”“Lydia, I’m quite busy… slumped with work.”“You work?”“I have companies under my name. Of course I work. What do you think I do all day?”“I don’t know. You do what billionaires do.”“Lydia, bye.”Before she could complain, I cut the call. I was already getting frustrated with my plans with my father. But if he was right, that meant that Dennis was about to be gone, and very soon I would have a grieving Alex.I would need to slide i
