ABIGAIL'S POV

I woke up bracing myself for impact.

My body reacted before my mind did, heart already racing, breath shallow, muscles tight as if preparing for a blow that had not yet landed. I lay still for a moment, staring at the ceiling, waiting Richardson to badge through that door and start barking. I expected anger. Or maybe him yelling at the top of his voice asking why I made him sign the papers, asking me why I had dared to deceive him, why I had tricked him into signing papers he had not fully read.

But that didn't happen for a long moment. Inside a maid walked in and placed a tray in front of me, saying Richardson had ordered for me to be served in bed. I thanked her and she left.

Then a smell reached me. Coffee. Just the smooth blend I liked, the one with a faint hint of hazelnut that Richardson somehow remembered even though I had only mentioned it once, casually, months ago.

I turned my head slowly. There was a tray beside my bed.

For a second, I thought I was still dre

  • The CEO'S Dead Wife: A Marriage Made In Hell!   Chapter 49

ABIGAIL'S POVI had spent nights imagining what Georgina might look like in person, what kind of presence a woman like her carried, what kind of smile she used to disarm people, what kind of tone she sharpened her words with but no amount of guessing prepared me for the reality of facing her.The restaurant she chose was nothing short of theatrical. Glass chandeliers hung above us like frozen raindrops, glittering softly against the dim amber lighting, and the crisp white tablecloths were ironed flat as if wrinkles were illegal here. Every sound whispered elegance: the faint piano in the background, the hush of private conversations, the occasional ring of laughter from some wealthy corner. And in the middle of it, she sat waiting Georgina. The woman I had been warned about. The woman who could sniff out weakness like perfume. My pulse throbbed beneath my skin. I straightened my shoulders and stepped forward, every movement measured, every breath practiced. I was meeting Georgina not

ABIGAIL'S POV The moment I sat down and looked at myself in the mirror, truly looked, I didn’t recognize what stared back at me. My breath caught in my throat, suspended somewhere between disbelief and awe, and for a second it felt as though my heart forgot to beat. The harsh, broken version of myself that had been living these past month was gone. That Abigail no longer existed.Elizabeth stood behind me, fingers resting lightly on my shoulders, her smile widening as she watched my stunned expression.“Now look at you,” she whispered with a sense of sisterly pride, her voice soft but thick with mischief, “you look like a damn goddess, Ivory. No one will ever know.”Ivory.The name hit me hard. I swallowed slowly, letting the sound of that name seep into my bones. My old name. My hidden identity. My rebirth. My hair was chopped to a sleek, shoulder-brushing cut dyed the color of ashes mixed with silver. Elizabeth styled it with a precision only years of high-end training could produc

RICHARDSON'S POVThe first thing I became aware of was the smell. Hospitals had a specific scent that always made me want to throw up. When my eyes fluttered open, my head felt heavy, as if thoughts were swimming through mud inside my skull. My throat burned, my body ached, and reality came in fragments instead of whole pictures.Voices echoed far away, muffled like underwater murmurs. A beeping machine tracked my pulse.Alive.My chest stung the moment I tried to inhale fully, and a groan escaped my lips. That sound alone felt like effort. I blinked again, waiting for my surroundings to make sense.White ceiling. Dim lights. Tubes taped against my skin. A bandage around my torso, strapped tight.Hospital.I wasn’t dead. And the very next second, her name slipped past my lips without permission.“Abigail…”It came out rough, broken, like gravel. The nurse attending to me froze. She had been checking something on the monitor beside my bed, but the moment she heard that whisper, she tur

ABIGAIL'S POVThe world felt different after the heart monitor calmed down. The nurses had worked quickly, rushing in like a wave of white uniforms and professional panic. Medication lines were checked, wires were adjusted, numbers smoothed out, and then, just as suddenly as chaos had erupted, the room returned to quiet order, except now I couldn’t unhear the sound of the beeping spike.I stood outside his room again, forehead pressed weakly to the glass, watching Richardson breathe beneath the web of intravenous lines and machines. His chest still rose and fell in that slow, steady rhythm doctors called “good progress,” but to me it looked fragile, like any moment his body would decide it had given enough. And I still hadn’t forgiven myself. The hallway was dark, late afternoon shadows stretching across the floors. My phone buzzed in my hand. When I looked down and saw Alexander’s name, my heart stumbled into a sprint.I answered immediately.“Alexander?”His voice came rough, breath

  • The CEO'S Dead Wife: A Marriage Made In Hell!   Chapter 45

ABIGAIL'S POV The hospital hallway was so quiet or maybe it was all in my head.Minutes here stretched into years, tightening around my ribs until every breath rattled like broken glass. I sat on one of the hard plastic chairs, knees drawn up, my hands clenched together so tightly my nails dug crescent moons into my palms. The fluorescent lights hummed overhead, cold and steady, while the scent of antiseptic clung to my clothes. It felt like everything around me was too clean, too bright, too calm and inside me there was nothing but chaos and blood and memories still ringing with gunfire.Richardson was somewhere behind those double doors. Alive, they said. Fighting a bullet wound because he shielded me with his own body. And now, because of a stupid little clause he added to the contract, if he died, the annulment meant nothing. I would be his widow, and the cage would lock shut around me forever.I bent forward and pressed my forehead to my knees. A sob slipped through my lips even

  • The CEO'S Dead Wife: A Marriage Made In Hell!   Chapter 44

RICHARDSON'S POVI knew something was wrong the moment Abigail stopped breathing. It wasn’t dramatic. She didn’t gasp or scream. She simply froze beside the window, her body going rigid in a way that made the air in the room turn sharp. I was halfway through shrugging on my jacket when the silence hit me.“Abigail?” I said quietly. She didn’t answer even though she was so close to me.Her eyes were locked on something outside, pupils blown wide, all the color draining from her face. I crossed the room in two long strides and followed her gaze through the thin curtains. The cars sat just beyond the inn’s weak lights.Black. Low. Tinted. My jaw tightened instantly.“Joselyn,” I muttered under my breath. There was no doubt. Not with those plates. Not with the way they were positioned or angled outward, ready for pursuit. I had memorized her family’s habits long before she ever became a problem I couldn’t erase quietly. Abigail turned to me, fear finally cracking through her composure. “
