Ver maisTiana’s POV
I plopped down on my couch as I ended the call with the wedding dress designer and let out a sigh. Today had been a really stressful day. Madison, my twin sister, would be getting married tomorrow and I had been handling most of the preparations. Maddie had always wanted a big wedding but the circumstances called for a really small one. She was getting married to the most eligible bachelor in New York, who also happened to be my boss, Seth Berkley. It was crazy how they met a few weeks ago at a bar and they were already getting married. Seth was a billionaire who should obviously spend a lot of money on his wedding. I knew there was more to their story but Maddie said she wasn’t allowed to tell me. I strolled to my kitchen for a cup of water while waiting for my sister to get back home. My phone started to ring so I went back to the living room to get it. Tonight was gonna be a long one. I saw that it was Maddie calling so I picked the call, there was noise at the other end so I had to put the call on speaker. “Maddie, where are you? It’s getting late.” “Ms. Tiana, I’m calling from Olive hospital. Ms. Madison has been involved in an accident.” My heart instantly dropped. The words didn’t compute. Accident? The world titled, I quickly held on to the couch in front of me for support. “What! Oh my God, what happened?” I choked out as my body began to shake. I grabbed my car key and shoes as the caller explained that she was hit by a drunk driver. I ended the call and raced to the hospital, not even caring that I could also get involved in an accident with the speed I was driving at. I prayed to God that nothing bad would happen to Maddie as I ran to the receptionists, who all stared at me with some weird look on their faces. “Maddison Palmer, she was rushed here a few minutes ago.” I explained to them. “She is now in the ICU.” One of them pointed down the hallway and I bolted without even saying thanks. Just as I got in front of the ICU, I saw Seth already standing there. He didn’t look like the impeccably tailored CEO I usually saw at work, he looked terrified with his shirt wrinkled beneath the expensive blazer he wore. His brown hair was disheveled as if he had run his hand through it a couple of times and his face was pulled into a frown. Looking at him made my heart constrict in my chest. I wasn’t sure I would be able to bear it if something terrible happened to Maddie. “How is my sister? Is she doing alright?” I asked, turning to the transparent glass in front of me that showed everyone in the intensive care unit. I didn’t see Maddie anywhere which made me suspect she was on one of the beds that was blocked with curtains. “Tiana?” Seth called out beside me, his mouth was slightly opened and he stared at me like he was amazed, "Maddison told me she had a twin that works in my company, I've never seen you before and didn’t know you two would be so identical.” ‘You’ve certainly seen me before, and I see you at work almost every day.’ I almost blurted out. I guessed Seth had never noticed me at work. How was the CEO supposed to notice me when I only worked in the data entry department? “Yes, I’m Tiana. Is Maddison okay? What did the doctors say? Where is she right now?” Before Seth was able to answer, a doctor walked out of the ICU and asked if we were Maddie’s family. I immediately rushed out all my questions. “She had a severe concussion, fractured ribs, and worst of all…” the doctor paused and stared at us cautiously as if he wanted to be sure we were prepared for the next news, “She fell into a coma, and there is no timeline for when or even if, she will wake up.” “Oh my God!” I collapsed on the ground, my body shaking with shock and an overwhelming feeling of guilt. Why hadn’t I insisted she stayed at home? Why wasn’t I there? Why was she even driving herself after all the stress she had gone through this week? I didn’t know for how long I had been on the floor crying, but when I finally gathered myself and stood, the doctor was gone while Seth was sitting on the bench in front of the ICU with his palm on his face. I looked through the glass and saw that the curtain had been pulled to review Maddie. Her forehead was wrapped in bandage and an oxygen mask covered her nose and mouth. I forced myself to swallow the lump in my throat at the sight of her. If only I could change the hands of time, I would have locked the doors and refused to let her go out. I wish I could take her pain away. “This means the wedding is off.” I heard Seth say, as if it wasn’t already obvious that there couldn’t be a wedding without the bride. I sniffed and turned away from Maddie, “I will go and call my parents.” “Wait!” Seth called out, making me stop. I turned back to him and watched him release a long breath from his mouth, he looked at me almost as if he was silently pleading with me for something. “The wedding can’t be off.” He voiced out. My brows furrowed, “What do you mean the wedding can’t be off? Do you want to get married to my sister while she is still in coma?” “I can’t call off the wedding because… for some reasons. You look exactly like Maddison and that is why you have to help me.” A took a step backwards and my mouth fell open in shock when I realized what he was saying. He wanted me to pretend to be my sister and get married to him. That was ridiculously insane.Tiana’s POVI held onto the kitchen counter for support as Elina's words rang in my ears. My hands trembled and my grip over the phone loosened. Seth, sensing what was happening, quickly stood beside me, holding me steady with a hand before reaching for the phone with the other. He put the phone on speaker and placed it on the counter. "What's happening, Elina?" He asked, frowning down at the phone. There was a pause before she responded. "It's Leo, we rushed him to the hospital. You both have to come right now." "We are on our way." He hung up and placed my phone back into my purse. "I have to go to the hospital. I need to know what happened to my baby. Seth, I have to go and see him right now." I broke down into tears, running towards the front door."Wait." Seth called out, holding my arm to stop me. "I'll go with you, I just need to get something to wear." He went into his room and in a minute, he came out with a shirt on. There was no time to appreciate how the cloth looked
Tiana’s POVSeth was sitting on the bench of a rowing machine in his half naked glory. His back turned to me and the sight was so overwhelming that I had to grip the doorframe tightly to keep me from collapsing. Every time he pulled the weighted handle toward his chest, the muscles of his shoulders bunched and rippled beneath his skin. He was dripping in sweat, his skin glistening under the light. The machine stopped mid-motion as he lowered them in a slow and controlled manner. I watched the way his muscles moved at the action. My throat suddenly felt dry and I felt like a virgin seeing a naked man for the first time. He picked up a towel from the bench by his side and wiped the sweat off his body. Slowly, he stood up, turned around and looked up. He went still, his eyes widening as he sighted me by the door. His mouth opened and then closed with no words, he placed the towel around his shoulder and started to walk towards me. Every cell in my body was on fire as his eyes racke
Tiana's POVThe drive to my house was a really long one. I looked out the window as I thought of what to do when we reached my house. Something needed to be done, Caleb and I couldn't continue like this.He reached out to hold my hand in his, I wanted to pull away but he tightened his hold on my hand so I wouldn't be able to."Caleb..." I called out, just as he packed in front of my house. I swallowed hard as I unfastened my seatbelt and turned in my seat to face him."Caleb, we need to talk." I said in a low voice. He pulled his hand away, brushing his fingers through his hair before releasing a harsh breath. "I know." He responded, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel repeatedly. I swallowed again, not knowing where to start from but I knew I needed to say something. "Caleb, I... W- we, umm, I think we should end this." I muttered, shutting my eyes tightly so I wouldn't see his reaction. When I didn't hear him say anything after a few minutes, I popped my eyes open and saw t
Tiana's POVIt has been a week, a long ass week since I last saw Seth. I found myself staring out of my window and looking towards his house whenever I was going out, hoping to see him but he wasn't there. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about him, I had been worried all week because knowing Seth, he would have come over to my house every single day just to see Leo and I.I couldn't help but wonder if he was mad about what transpired when I went to his house. Was he giving me some space because of that or he had finally gone back to New York. But no, he wouldn't go back without letting me know. "Is everything okay? You've been spacing out a lot since we got here." Caleb's voice brought me back to the present. My gaze snapped to him and that was when I realised he had been talking to me but I had been staring into space since. "Sorry about that. It's just... nothing actually." I answered him, forcing a smile as I sipped from my glass of wine. Caleb and I were currently
Tiana’s POVI wiped my hands on my apron, frowning as I walked out of the store room to meet Asher toward the front of the shop. "Why do you keep yelling my name?" I asked her, placing my hands on my hip. She laughed as she wrote something on a card and placed it on a bouquet of flowers she had a
Tiana’s POVI laughed at Caleb's joke as he pulled his car to a stop in front of my house. Caleb was fun and easy to be with, he has succeeded in making me laugh so many times this evening. "I’m telling you, the look on his face was priceless, how was I supposed to know he didn't recognise the flo
Seth’s POVThe engines of the private jet hummed softly as we began our descent into Toronto. My assistant, Nikki, was already knee deep in her briefing, her tablet glowing in the dim cabin light."Our schedule is tight, Mr. Berkley." She said, not looking up from her tab. "Once we land, we’re head
Tiana’s POVIt had been a week since Caleb and I's first date, he asked me to be his girlfriend during our second date and I said yes to him. He was really excited that everyone could tell at the flower shop the next day. I had an afternoon shift today, so after taking Leo to his child care, I bus
