Tiana’s POV
I plopped down on my couch as I ended the call with the wedding dress designer and let out a sigh. Today had been a really stressful day. Madison, my twin sister, would be getting married tomorrow and I had been handling most of the preparations. Maddie had always wanted a big wedding but the circumstances called for a really small one. She was getting married to the most eligible bachelor in New York, who also happened to be my boss, Seth Berkley. It was crazy how they met a few weeks ago at a bar and they were already getting married. Seth was a billionaire who should obviously spend a lot of money on his wedding. I knew there was more to their story but Maddie said she wasn’t allowed to tell me. I strolled to my kitchen for a cup of water while waiting for my sister to get back home. My phone started to ring so I went back to the living room to get it. Tonight was gonna be a long one. I saw that it was Maddie calling so I picked the call, there was noise at the other end so I had to put the call on speaker. “Maddie, where are you? It’s getting late.” “Ms. Tiana, I’m calling from Olive hospital. Ms. Madison has been involved in an accident.” My heart instantly dropped. The words didn’t compute. Accident? The world titled, I quickly held on to the couch in front of me for support. “What! Oh my God, what happened?” I choked out as my body began to shake. I grabbed my car key and shoes as the caller explained that she was hit by a drunk driver. I ended the call and raced to the hospital, not even caring that I could also get involved in an accident with the speed I was driving at. I prayed to God that nothing bad would happen to Maddie as I ran to the receptionists, who all stared at me with some weird look on their faces. “Maddison Palmer, she was rushed here a few minutes ago.” I explained to them. “She is now in the ICU.” One of them pointed down the hallway and I bolted without even saying thanks. Just as I got in front of the ICU, I saw Seth already standing there. He didn’t look like the impeccably tailored CEO I usually saw at work, he looked terrified with his shirt wrinkled beneath the expensive blazer he wore. His brown hair was disheveled as if he had run his hand through it a couple of times and his face was pulled into a frown. Looking at him made my heart constrict in my chest. I wasn’t sure I would be able to bear it if something terrible happened to Maddie. “How is my sister? Is she doing alright?” I asked, turning to the transparent glass in front of me that showed everyone in the intensive care unit. I didn’t see Maddie anywhere which made me suspect she was on one of the beds that was blocked with curtains. “Tiana?” Seth called out beside me, his mouth was slightly opened and he stared at me like he was amazed, "Maddison told me she had a twin that works in my company, I've never seen you before and didn’t know you two would be so identical.” ‘You’ve certainly seen me before, and I see you at work almost every day.’ I almost blurted out. I guessed Seth had never noticed me at work. How was the CEO supposed to notice me when I only worked in the data entry department? “Yes, I’m Tiana. Is Maddison okay? What did the doctors say? Where is she right now?” Before Seth was able to answer, a doctor walked out of the ICU and asked if we were Maddie’s family. I immediately rushed out all my questions. “She had a severe concussion, fractured ribs, and worst of all…” the doctor paused and stared at us cautiously as if he wanted to be sure we were prepared for the next news, “She fell into a coma, and there is no timeline for when or even if, she will wake up.” “Oh my God!” I collapsed on the ground, my body shaking with shock and an overwhelming feeling of guilt. Why hadn’t I insisted she stayed at home? Why wasn’t I there? Why was she even driving herself after all the stress she had gone through this week? I didn’t know for how long I had been on the floor crying, but when I finally gathered myself and stood, the doctor was gone while Seth was sitting on the bench in front of the ICU with his palm on his face. I looked through the glass and saw that the curtain had been pulled to review Maddie. Her forehead was wrapped in bandage and an oxygen mask covered her nose and mouth. I forced myself to swallow the lump in my throat at the sight of her. If only I could change the hands of time, I would have locked the doors and refused to let her go out. I wish I could take her pain away. “This means the wedding is off.” I heard Seth say, as if it wasn’t already obvious that there couldn’t be a wedding without the bride. I sniffed and turned away from Maddie, “I will go and call my parents.” “Wait!” Seth called out, making me stop. I turned back to him and watched him release a long breath from his mouth, he looked at me almost as if he was silently pleading with me for something. “The wedding can’t be off.” He voiced out. My brows furrowed, “What do you mean the wedding can’t be off? Do you want to get married to my sister while she is still in coma?” “I can’t call off the wedding because… for some reasons. You look exactly like Maddison and that is why you have to help me.” A took a step backwards and my mouth fell open in shock when I realized what he was saying. He wanted me to pretend to be my sister and get married to him. That was ridiculously insane.Tiana’s POVSix months had passed since Leo was kidnapped by Madison. He had recovered fully from his heart condition and was getting ready to start school.Caleb got treated by one of Seth's doctors, he went back to Oakville after recovering from the gunshot wound. Seth made sure his flower shop became one of the most successful ones in the city as a thank you gift for saving my life and helping Leo when he was abducted. Seth and I got married four months ago as he couldn't wait for me to be his completely after wearing his ring. It was a small, private wedding held in the garden at the back of our house. Our lives had been filled with happy moments since then, but something was still on my mind and I needed to let go of it. "Are you sure about this, baby?" Seth's deep voice slipped into my thoughts as he stopped the car, his eyes searching mine. He placed a protective hand on my protruding belly, his thumb stroking the silk of my dress gently."Yes, I'm sure. I will be right back.
Tiana's POVThe door to our bedroom creaked annoyingly as I opened it slowly, sneaking out of the room so that Seth wouldn't catch me. My heart drummed frantically against my ribs, and my palms were slick with sweat as I started to shut the door. "Tiana? Is that you?" I froze, my hand hovered over the door handle when I heard Seth's voice from the bathroom. "Uhm, yes." I responded in a shaky voice. He came out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel in his hand. He looked exhausted but was trying his best to conceal it. Neither of us had been able to sleep through the night. He dropped the towel on the dresser and started to walk towards me with a sad look on his face. "My investigator will give us an update soon, I have a strong feeling he is going to find out where she is hiding." "That's good, but uhm... I can't seem to breathe in here. I think I should go for a walk." I lied, my voice cracking a bit.His brows raised a bit, his dark eyes scanning my face with an intens
Tiana’s POVThe world had become a series of blurred faces and static noise in a couple of hours. I was sitting on the edge of the velvet couch in Seth’s parents' living room with an arm wrapped around myself, but I couldn't feel anything around me. I couldn't feel the warmth of the tea Seth’s mother had pressed into my hand some minutes ago, I hadn't even taken a sip out of it. How could I, when my son was with that wicked woman. He was still recovering and shouldn't be going through all this, I just hope Madison would have the decency not to hurt him. The house was crawling with people. The police drifted past the windows, asking the maids and the security guards questions. Tech experts were hunched over laptops, rewatching every second of the security footage.A pair of warm hands settled on my knees. Seth knelt in front of me, he looked equally worried but I knew he was trying to be strong for me. He took the mug of tea from my hand, his eyes softening as he looked up at me. "W
Seth’s POVI stood at the bottom of the grand staircase in the foyer, checking my watch for the tenth time tonight. We weren't late, I was just nervous. My parents would finally be meeting Tiana and Leo tonight and they were really excited about it. So, no, I wasn't worried things wouldn't go well, I was nervous for other reasons. My heart thudded with an uneven rhythm against my ribs when I heard the click of heels on the tiled floor above. I looked up, and breath was punched right out of my lungs. This woman would be the death of me. I sucked in breath as Tiana descended the stairs in the emerald silk gown I’d had Nikki source from Milan. It hugged every curve of her body perfectly, the deep green colour made her skin look like cream and her eyes sparkled as she smiled at me. She looked like a queen. My queen."You’re staring, Seth." She giggled, as she reached the bottom step with a shy smile."You look breathtaking, Tia. So beautiful." I breathed, taking her hand and kissing t
Tiana's POV"Don't talk about my son that way, he is not a thing." I hissed, fisting my palm into a ball and holding myself back from punching her in the face. I wouldn't allow anyone to talk to Leo that way, especially not the person who almost made me lose him. "So what? What are you going to do to me? Uh? And wait, are you back to use him to force your way back into Seth's life? You really have no shame-"Before she could finish spewing out the trash she was saying, I raised my hand and smacked her across her face. She gasped in shock as her head tilted to the side, the men behind her moved to grab me but she raised her hand to stop them. "I can handle her on my own." I was grateful the mall wasn't busy today. I wouldn't be happy if the video of my sister and I fighting was all over the internet a day before meeting Seth's parents. That would be a total disappointment. Madison cast a glare at Leo before looking at me. "This isn't over, Tiana. You just declared war by coming bac
Tiana’s POVI woke up in a recliner, my body aching with a fatigue that went down to my bones. I blinked, my gaze immediately darting to the center of the room.Leo was still on the bed. He looked peaceful, his small chest rising and falling in perfect sync with the steady beep of the new monitors. The surgery had been a success and I couldn't be more grateful. The tiny pacemaker was already doing the work his heart couldn't manage on its own. The specialist said he will soon be awake and will be discharged when his vitals are stable. "He’s okay now, Tia." I turned my head towards the voice and saw Seth standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, giving me a small, reassuring smile. He looked exhausted, even more than I was. He offered to look over Leo through the night while I slept. I didn't know what I would have done if he hadn't arranged a specialist for Leo. I would have gone crazy at the hospital back at Oakville. "I'm just really glad that it hasn't gone beyond that stage." S
Tiana's POVI stood up from the bed and pulled my silk blouse over my head while Seth watched up, unexcited about the fact that I was leaving."You don't have to leave, you know. You could just go back tomorrow morning." He muttered as he climbed down from the bed and moved to stand behind my back,
Tiana's POVI laid on the hotel bed, half asleep after the long day at the construction site. The room was dark, only the faint light from the bathroom door spilling in. My body ached from walking around the site that I had stripped down to my tank top and panties before collapsing onto the sheets.
Tiana's POVI cleaned myself and got dressed, biting my lips to hide the grin on my face. I ran my hands through my hair several times to make it look normal before I turned to look at Seth, who had been watching me the whole time. "I'll go back to my cubicle now." I told him, pointing towards the
Tiana's POV I didn't stop until I reached the executive floor. I walked straight into my cubicle, my heart still racing as I paced about the room, staring blankly at Seth’s closed office door. I could barely breathe, waiting for the sound of the elevator doors, waiting for my inevitable punishment
