Chapter 49: Lucas' Warning

I was all alone in my office because Karl had to set out to the address that I gave to Edith and Jasmine. I told him to make the place as unlivable as possible since they were the reason why I wasn’t able to answer Maia’s call.

I was still staring down at my phone, hoping that Maia would call once again when someone knocked on the door.

Is Karl already back? That was fast.

“Come in,” I mindlessly said, still staring down at my phone. 

“Did you trash that place like I told you to? You came back earlier than expected, so I’m worried whether you were able to—”

I paused when I felt an unusual presence in the room. I looked up, expecting to see Karl, but I saw the person that I never would have expected to find in my office. A tall blonde figure hovered over me, and I looked up to him with a frown. 

“Lucas? What the hell are you doing here? Why didn't the front desk inf
