Chapter 11 : A Stormy Encounter
“That should help your sight.” The employee gasped as she touched her now-red cheek, her glasses falling to the floor from the impact of the sudden slap. Evelyn shifted her gaze to Luca and smirked. “Now, what do you have to say for your dumbness?” Luca could feel the anger boiling in him but he stood his ground. “I did not know you were the one Mr Micheal was expecting, Ma’am. Welcome, and I apologize from my heart because of the silly mistake I made.” She inhaled shapely while her assistant, the man holding files, walked to her and cleaned her gown with his handkerchief gently. “You should be fired but for now, I have to see Michael and talk to him.” Luca stood his ground and stopped the female employee as she was about to leave. He watched as she bent, picked up her glasses, and then made a gesture for her to wait. Evelyn put on her shades and saw that both of them were still gone. “What are you still doing here? I told you to get out!” Luca shook his head in disagreement. “I know how you’re connected to Mr Micheal. You must be an important guest and I respect you but you have no right to raise your hand on one of our employees.” “Excuse me?” “Apologize.” “Umm…sir. I’m fine, it is my fault. I caused all of this.” The employee said hastily as she put on her glasses carefully, turning her gaze to Luca. “It was both of our faults and we apologized, didn’t we?” “We did.” She retorted in a low tone. “But she raised her hands to you after we apologized. She should be the one to apologize now, she took it too far.” Luca let out firmly, crossing his arms as he stared at Evelyn. He knew what he was doing could make Michael fire him from his job but it was the right thing to do. Even if Michael told Laura she’s in trouble, she does not have the right to slap an employee who already apologized to her. Evelyn scoffed in disbelief as she handed her bag to her assistant. He stopped cleaning her dress and took the bag instantly. She removed her shades for the second time and gave them to her assistant then placed both of her hands on her hips. “Do you know how much this dress costs?” She inquired, her tone deadly. “I don’t care.” He answered back rudely and the assistant gasped. The employee attempted to speak to him but he continued. “I don’t care if Mr Micheal fires me after this encounter but you must apologize.” “And why do you think I will apologize to a stinking man that was pitied by Michael?” She said calmly and smiled softly. “You should be glad I’m in a good mood this morning, I don’t have time to squabble with an incompetent worker. Shush! I have a meeting to attend.” “Call me all the names you want but you don’t leave without apologizing.” “I tried my best to be nice, now I'm pissed!” She replied, trembling with rage as she raised her hand. Luca had no intention of holding her back. Most Wealthy people were troublesome, if he touched her or restrained her from slapping him, she might accuse him of assaulting her. It was an occurrence that happened to him years back when he went to the store. He closed his eyes immediately and after some seconds, her hand did not land on his cheek. He opened his eyes slowly and turned his gaze to her. She was furious and dazed but someone held her hand. He shifted his gaze to the person and became stunned instantly. It was Michael! He held Evelyn’s wrist firmly, his other hand in his pants pocket. “Michael! What are you doing? Release my hand and let me teach this poor man a lesson!” She let out angrily. “The poor man is my secretary and you have no right to lay your hands on him,” Michael answered calmly. “Of course I do! He insulted my… “Let’s discuss this further in private.” He cut in, releasing his grip from her hand carefully then turned to leave. Evelyn gave Luca a very stern glare before following Michael while Luca and the employee followed them quietly. They all went to Michael’s office while the other employees greeted Evelyn as she walked in and others talked about her appearance. Once in Michael’s office, she sat in his chair while Luca wondered about the relationship between them. “You should fire him, he is useless and rude.” She said as she examined her nails. “Get up, this is my office,” Michael replied and she obeyed reluctantly Then he sat down. “You wanted to slap Luca for what?” “Luca? So his name is Luca?” She said as she sat on the chair opposite Michael. “No wonder he's cunty.” “Watch your words, Evelyn,” Michael warned calmly then shifted his gaze to Luca. “What happened and why were you not in your office? I rang you twice to inform you that Miss Evelyn had arrived and you should welcome her.” “I was feeling thirsty sir so I went to get coffee. On my way back, she bumped into me accidentally because she was cleaning her glasses and the coffee spilled on Miss Evelyn’s dress. We apologize but she was blinded with rage and she slapped her then attempted to hit me too.” Luca explained firmly. He did not care if Michael fired him, he just wanted to make sure Evelyn apologized. Michael placed his hands on the table and fixed his gaze on the nonchalant Evelyn. “Is that true?” “Who cares? What mattered is that both of your careless employees ruined my dress and they deserved to be fired for their incompetence and lastly, I want compensation for it. It is a limited edition and I must be compensated.” She retorted harshly. “You will be compensated and an apology will be made,” Michael said as he leaned back into his chair. Luca widened his eyes. An apology? Why would he make an apology to someone who disrespected him? He vowed in his mind never to make an apology but rather leave the company instead of doing so. A satisfactory smile appeared on Evelyn's lips as she crossed her legs. “Now that's more like it.” “I…I apologize for ruining your dress and making you go through such stress, Miss Evelyn. I will check my savings and include my salary to pay for your dress, I am so sorry.” The female employee let out softly. Luca could hear the pain in her voice as she spoke and he disliked it. He looked at Michael and made up his mind not to apologize, he'd rather resign. “I… “I never said both of you will make the apology, did I?” Michael cut in and Luca furrowed his brow in confusion. “But sir…. “I said an apology must be made but it is not from both of you.” He interrupted again and turned his gaze to Evelyn. “She will make the apology and compensate both of you for bodily harm and harmful words.” “What?!”“What did she say to you?” Michael asked, his eyes on Evlyn as she walked down the hallway with her assistant and bodyguards. “Just a warning, sir.” He watched as Michael turned to leave them and added, “Thanks for having my back earlier, sir. I am grateful.”“You had your back yourself before I came to stop Evelyn. You stood up for yourself and that's how it should be. Employees are also humans and they don't deserve to be treated like shit.” He retorted calmly. “Thank you again, sir.”“It is fine. You did well in the conference room. You should keep it up.” He answered, his back still turned to him, and then he continued, “You should head back to work. I will send the compensation to your account details.” “Alright, sir.” Luca let out softly and watched as he went away. He could not help but admire his courage and aura. But what about Evelyn’s warning? He shook the thoughts off immediately, She can't harm him, probably she was still angry about how Michael commanded her to apolog
Evelyn let out loudly as she lowered her hand and locked gaze with Michael. Luca became amazed. Did Michael defend both of his employees? Of course, that was what he was supposed to do, but he never thought he could support them over his ‘important client’. “You heard me right. Just because you're my cousin does not mean you can treat my employees like they are yours. You have not learned your manners, have you?”Evelyn scoffed angrily. Why would she apologize to his stinking workers? She had always known Michael to be a strict man but she could not afford getting reprimanded by him in front of his workers.“Umm…can we just talk this out? You know what, don't fire them, just send them out and let's have a sensible discussion.” She said calmly. “It is either you apologize or I'll cancel the meeting. Pick one.” He replied firmly, adjusting his tie. Evelyn bit her bottom lip slowly. Michael was a man of his word and if she did not apologize, it would be her loss because she would los

Luca could not help but admire his boss's style and dress. He was his type, tall, confident, smells great and even has a wealth of his own. Unfortunately for him, it was impossible to have anything together with him. Luca stood still, thinking Michael wanted to reply to him, or rather say something concerning what happened between them. “Laura,” Michael said as he removed his hand from his pocket and stared down at his wrist. “Yes, Mr Beaufort?” “I have a meeting with the CEO of the Smithson group,” He replied then added. “Miss Evelyn. She should arrive soon and I want you to schedule the meeting.”“Yes sir. I will do that right away.” She affirmed as she placed her fingers on the keyboard and typed away calmly. “I will get the conference room ready and I will let you know when they arrive.”“Let the team know that the meeting is today too and also buzz me when Miss Evelyn arrives, you know she's trouble.” He said and Laura nodded at her immediately. He turned his gaze to the quie
How could someone have hated their grandma so much that they murdered her? He shook her cold body violently as tears fell from his eyes. “Grandma? Please open your eyes! Don't do this to me! I don't have anyone except you!” He lifted her in his arms immediately and stood up. “The hospital…we should be able to get you to the hospital…“Luca?”“Grandma!”He fluttered his eyes open slowly and widened them as he saw Grandma staring down at him curiously. “Grandma? Is that you?”“Who else? Did you drink last night? I have been calling your name since but you were mumbling in your sleep.” She replied as she made an attempt to straighten her posture. “You are…you are alive?!” He exclaimed as he stared down at his hands. They are not bloody but very neat. “Dead?” She inquired as she walked to the window. “What have you been drinking lately, boy? You seem out of your mind.” “It was a dream!” He shouted as he hit his fist into the bed. “It was a dream! Thank Goodness!”After she opened the
Chapter 8 : Blood Ties “You must be interested in their marriage,” Luca replied in a casual tone, trying his best to maintain a non-surprised expression.Dorothy beamed lightly as she placed the bowls of soup on the table down before both of them. “You know, I have grandchildren who love to be updated about recent happenings and they have always talked about the influencer’s upcoming marriage. The internet is something nowadays, they even have their nicknames.”“Nobody told me my crush is getting married, to whom?” Grandma let out as she shifted her gaze to Luca swiftly. “It is everywhere over the internet, your son must be too busy to show you.” Dorothy retorted wryly as she wiped her hands against her apron then pulled out a chair beside Grandma.Luca watched as Dorothy sat beside Grandma and they chatted away happily. It has been days since they talked and whenever they met and talked, grandma was always excited. He picked up the spoon on the serviette and dipped it into the hot
