The Request

An aeroplane flew downwards from the sky, touching down at the airport.

A very expensive black limousine parked in front of the airport, with the driver, a middle aged lady, and an old man standing next to it.

The driver held a Plank Card that had the name "Carlos" on it.

A handsome young man stepped out of the airport, wearing a suit, dragging a suitcase with him, as he looked around.

His eyes caught the card with the name "Carlos" on top, and his eyes immediately lit up, seeing the old man standing there.

"Dad!" He exclaimed, walking over to the limousine.

"Carlos my boy!" The old man exclaimed, pulling his son into a hug.

"Welcome home son."

"It's good to be home Dad."

Carlos and his Dad, Gabriel sat in the limousine, the former telling his father of his work in the States.

"So that's it."

"That's interesting."

"Yeah. I'm just really glad to be back. I can't wait to see Mom and Cindy." He smiled, thinking of his little sister. "How has my little sister been?"

"Well she certainly isn't little anymore." Gabriel said amused, making Carlos laugh.

"Yeah well obviously." He smiled, letting out a sigh. "It's good to be back."

"And just in time to take over House Of Terry too." Gabriel commented.

"Oh yeah Dad about that. I've been meaning to talk to you about that." Carlos said, turning to face his father.

"Is anything the matter?" Gabriel asked his son.

"Well no. Dad, I am ready to start immediately but, I'd like to observe things within. And to do that….um….I'm afraid I'd have to start with the lowliest position." Carlos said, eyeing his father cautiously.

"Which is?" Gabriel asked, expecting his son to say a sales rep or something.

"Well, that is, a security guard."

"What?!" Gabriel exclaimed appalled. "Are you out of your senses?"

"Nope." Carlos answered simply.

"Carlos, if this is one of your schemes."

"Dad, I'm not a kid anymore, and it's not. Look Dad I know what I'm doing. If I'm to run this company, and to run it well, I need to start from this position. I can easily know the insides of the company, know who is who, know the employees' weaknesses and strengths. But if I just start straight at the top, I won't be able to know who is pretending and who's not. So please Dad, let me do this. Trust me."

Gabriel sighed, shaking his head. "Okay Carlos I'll….I'll think about it."

Carlos nodded in appreciation. "Thanks Dad."

The limousine pulled up to a large mansion, stopping in the garage.

As Carlos and Gabriel came down from the car, they heard a feminine voice calling out the younger's name.

"Carlos! Carlos!"

Carlos turned just in time to see his younger sister crash into him, bringing him into a hug.

"Cindy!" He grunted, as he hugged her back, and then laughed heartily.

He pulled back, looking at how much she's grown.

"Wow, look at you, I barely recognize you."

"That's because you were gone for so long."

"That's right. You're what? 20 now?"

Cindy swatted his arm pouting, making Carlos laugh.

"Not funny, I'm just 17."

"But I did miss you." Carlos said sincerely, pulling his sister into another hug.

"I miss you too." Cindy replied heartily hugging back.

"What's this? Everyone gets a hug except me?"

A more matured female voice called out, making Carlos pull back from his sister.

"Mom!" He whispered softly with so much affection, as he rushed to hug the woman he hadn't seen in years.

Tessa laughed as she wrapped her arms around her son.

"Welcome home dear."

The family sat down to dinner, Carlos already silvating at the food on the table.

"Mom, you have no idea how much I missed your cooking." Carlos said, already digging in to the rice set on the table.

"I sure hope so, cause my cooking is the best in the world." Tessa said smiling.

"It sure is." Gabriel agreed, pulling in his wife for a kiss.

Cindy groaned in disgust. "Eww, stop that. No PDA at the dinning table please."

"Well you don't see us complaining when you get all mushy with that kid, what was his name, Adrien?"

"Mom, why'd you have to bring that up?" Cindy said, blushing.

"What's this? My little sister has a boyfriend?" Carlos asked.

"Please don't go into big brother mode and scare him away." Cindy pleaded, making the rest laugh.

"Why shouldn't I? It's my role as a big brother isn't it?" Carlos said tauntingly, making Cindy roll her eyes.

"By the way Carlos. I've decided, you'll start work in House Of Terry next week." Gabriel said.

"Really?" Carlos asked excited.

"Huh? So soon?" Cindy asked.

"Yes. The day you start, you'll go straight to the store house to go pick up your guard uniform."

"Yes!" Carlos exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air. "I won't let you down Dad, I promise."

Cindy and Tessa look to each other confused.

"Guard?" Tessa asked.

"Uniform?" Cindy also asked.

"Oh yes. Cindy, Love, Carlos here decided to start working at House Of Terry as a security guard."

The sound of cutlery being dropped was heard.

"What?" Cindy asked unbelievably

"Are you out of your mind?" Tessa added.

"Mom, I know what I'm doing okay. I figured if I start from the bottom, I'll be able to know the in and outs, know everyone for who they are. But if I start at the top being the CEO, well all the psychopaths will come crawling pretending to be something they're not."

"Dad. You agree to this?" Cindy asked

"It's what he wants, and frankly I'm not against it. I'm curious to see how he'll handle the most difficult job in the company. But just so you know…." Gabriel said to Carlos. "You will not be given any salary."

"Sure, no sweat." Carlos said shrugging, then smirked. "I am the CEO of the company after all."

"Yes. But it's not yours yet is it?" Gabriel spat back, making Cindy giggle at her brother's pride being hurt.

Carlos shook his head. "Good one dad, good one."
