Not A Chance Meeting

Carlos sat in his room, with a pencil in his hand, a sketchbook on his table, as he tried to brainstorm ideas for a small project he was working on.

His phone buzzed, snapping him out of his thoughts.

His eyes lit up, seeing the Caller's ID.

"Hey man."

"Hey Carlos. I heard you're back from the States." A very excited voice called from the other side of the phone.

"Yeah, I'm back. Just got back yesterday."

"Awesome dude! So how was America?"

"It was okay." Carlos said shrugging.

"Did you hook up with any cute American babe?"

"Diego." Carlos said in a warning tone.

"What? It's an honest question." Carlos shook his head at his friend, though he could not see.

"Hey hey, me and the guys were talking and we we're like, we should totally celebrate your return."

"Oh yeah?" Carlos asked, rubbing his jaw.

"Yeah. There's this great club uptown, we could go there, get some drinks, party all night, and maybe fuck some cute girls. Huh? What'd you say?"

Carlos clicked his tongue. "I don't really know."

"Oh come on Carlos." Diego whined from over the phone. "Don't be such a party pooper."

Carlos sighed, staring into space, mulling over his decision.

Then he sighed giving in. "Alright, where did you say this club was again?"

"Score! I knew you'd come true."

IN KRYSTAL'S APARTMENT

Clothes were left on the foot of the bed, as a figure lied in the bed, using the blanket to spoon herself.

Krystal was numb, as she kept staring at the wall, relaying the whole day over again in her head.

"I see your monsters, I see your pain. Tell me your problems, I'll chase them away…"

Her phone started ringing, but she paid no mind to it. The phone kept ringing, until it finally stopped, making the apartment go quiet again.

Then, her phone started ringing again.

"I see your monsters, I see your pain. Tell me your problems, I'll chase them away…"

Krystal groaned in annoyance, rolling over and picking the phone, clicking the answer button, placing it to her ear.

"What?"

"Get up and get dressed girl. I'll be over in ten. We're going out." Jerry's voice called over the phone, before the line went off.

Krystal groaned, before rolling to the other side of the bed, to continue sulking.

Roughly ten minutes later, loud knocking was heard on her door, making her groan and cover her head with her pillow.

"Krystal, Krystal." Jerry called from outside, dressed in casual clothing.

He rolled his eyes at the lack of response, and looked around her porch.

He spotted the small potted plant, walking over to it, reaching in and pulling out a spare key. He opened the door to the apartment, walking in.

Krystal groaned as she heard the door to her room open.

"Krystal, get up!" She heard the voice of her best friend, making her groan again.

"I regret telling you where the spare key was."

"Enough of this pity party you're throwing yourself." Jerry said, reaching to the bed, pulling back the covers.

"Jerry." Krystal whined.

"Get up, we're going out!"

"Going ou……going out to where?"

Jerry opened her wardrobe, going through her clothing, trying to pick out some decent clothes.

"There's this amazing club I heard of uptown. That's where we're going."

"Jerry, I'm not in the mood for going out." Krystal said, dragging the blanket back over her shoulders.

"Nope. We are going out young lady. And you are going to get drunk, dance, and have a good time, forgetting all your worries. Now come down from that bed this instance." He said firmly.

"No way, I'm not going out, and you can't make me." Krystal said, facing away from her best friend, drawing the blanket closer to herself.

"Oh really?" Jerry asked, hands on his hips. "Watch me!"

Jerry reached down and pulled Krystal's legs from under the covers, dragging her down the bed

"Jerry let go of me!"

"You are coming down this instance!"

"No I don't want to go anywhere!"

"Yes you are young lady!"

"You can't make me."

"I can't believe you made me come here." Krystal said, as she and Jerry walked into the club.

"It's for your own good Krystal. Here, you can dance, and get drunk and dance away your sorrows. You'll have fun here trust me."

Just then, the two hear a commotion, and they turn to see a guy with a broken beer bottle in his hand, being carried out by a bouncer.

"Whelp, I'm out of here." Krystal said, turning away but Jerry grabbed her wrist, pulling her back.

"Just come on."

Jerry pulled her over to the bar, and they both sat on the barstools.

"Um excuse me." Jerry called out to the bartender.

"What can I do for you this fine evening?" The young bartender asked, flashing Krystal a smile, making her roll her eyes.

"I'd like to open a tab please." Jerry asked, making Krystal whip her head over to him.

"For you or for me?"

Jerry rolled his eyes at her, turning his attention back to the bartender.

"What'd you like to start with this evening?"

"Give me a beer." Jerry said.

"Alright, what about you sweet cheeks?" The bartender asked, turning to Krystal, who was feeling uncomfortable in the club already.

"Uh….just give me a soda."

The bartender looked at her unbelievably, and Jerry scoffed.

"Give her a shot."

"Coming up."

"Jerry I don't……"

"Krystal we came here to get drunk! So this goodytwo shoes attitude, better throw it away."

"Jerry…."

"Look Krystal, I'm just looking out for you. You've been stressed out a lot today, and I just want you to forget your sorrows, even if it's just for one night. Trust me."

Krystal sighed, giving in. "Fine."

"Here are your drinks." The bartender said, placing a beer in front of Jerry and a small glass in front of Krystal.

Krystal's fingers circle round the glass, as she glanced at it nervously.

"Come on, do it." Jerry said.

Krystal took a deep breath, and then downed the shot in one gulp, placing the glass on the table.

"Whoo!" She exclaimed. "That was…ugh!"

"Yeah, I know right? Pour her another one."

The bartender poured another shot in her glass, and Krystal downed that one two.

"Yeah, go Krystal." Jerry cheered. "Keep it coming pretty boy."

"You got it." The bartender replied and kept pouring drinks into Krystal's glass.

Carlos arrived at the bar, immediately spotting his group of friends.

"Hey it's Carlos!" One of them called out to the rest.

"Carlos!"

Carlos walked over to the three guys, a wide smile on his face.

"Hey guys, what's up? I haven't seen you in ages."

"Claudio!" Carlos greeted the first guy, with a handshake.

"Bruno!"

"Diego!" He gave the last guy a bro hug as they all laughed.

"So how has the States been man?" Claudio asked.

"Well, same old, same old."

"How bout your studies, how's business school?" Bruno asked.

"Well…."

"Hey you two!" Diego exclaimed, stopping the conversation. "We're here to celebrate and have fun. You can leave all your business talks for later."

He handed a whiskey bottle to Carlos. "Here Carlos, hold this."

Diego raised his own glass of whiskey. "Here's to friendship and brotherhood!"

"Whoo!" His friends cheered with him, and all of them took a gulp of their drinks.

Krystal, already drunk, was on the dance floor, a drink in her hand, and she danced around without a care.

"Whoo! This is so fun!" She exclaimed on the top of her voice.

Jerry tapped her shoulder, being a bit sober, not as drunk as her.

"Hey Krystal. I'm gonna go to the bathroom for a while. Don't move from the spot okay?"

"Okay." Krystal replied absentmindedly, continuing her dance, as Jerry went to the bathroom.

Carlos sat slightly drunk as he watched Diego on the dance floor, dancing with some girls.

"Hey Carlos! What are you doing sitting there for? Come dance with us." Diego called out to him.

"Nah man. I'm….I'm good here. " Carlos said.

"Aww girls, he's shy. Why don't we get him up here?"

Two of the girls dancing with Diego walk over to Carlos, and start pulling him on to the dance floor.

"No…girls. I really don't……I don't……"

"Awwn, don't be such a party pooper Carlos. Come on, dance with the girls."

Carlos shook his head at his friend, but then started to dance slowly as a girl nudged him.

Krystal danced with her hands in the air, stumbling backwards, till she bumped into someone.

Carlos turn to see the person who bumped into him, and he reached out to grab her, as she stumbled, about to fall.

"Hey, hey. Careful."

Krystal giggled, opening her eyes clearly to see the beautiful man standing in front of her, with his hands round her waist.

"Hi." She whispered softly.

"Hey." Carlos whispered back, as his eyes just stayed glued to this breathtaking woman in front of him.

"I'm Krystal. What's your name?" She asked, smiling.

"I'm Carlos." He replied, his lips curling up in a smile.

"Car…los. Well Carlos, I think……you have pretty eyes." Krystal said, running a finger down his cheek.

"Oh really?" Carlos smirked.

"Hmmm mmmn." Krystal answered as he pulled her closer.

"Well I think you're very pretty too." He said making her giggle.

"Okay Krystal. I think it's time we head on home." Jerry said, coming to where he last left the young lady.

"Krystal?" He looked around for her. "Krystal? Oh no!"

The door to a room burst open, and two adults stumble in, kissing feverishly, their hands roaming all over each other's bodies.

The man back the lady on to the bed, and pushed her back into it, making her squeal excitedly.

Carlos hovered over the girl underneath him, staring at her hungrily.

"Krystal." He whispered her name delicately.

"Carlos." She equally whispered back.

Then he covered her mouth with his own, as they made love their pleasurable moans and groans echoing into the night.

Krystal woke up with a groan, as she reached a hand to her head, massaging it.

She tried to turn when she realized that there was something holding her down.

Glancing down, she saw a hand on her waist.

Krystal panicked.

She slowly turned, glancing behind her to see a beautiful man sleeping behind her.

She glanced down at herself to see that she was naked.

Flashes of what happened last night started flying to her head.

Oh shit!

Oh no! No! No! No!

She just had sex, with a complete stranger.

What was she thinking?!

Of course, she wasn't thinking at all.

She was drunk.

This was all Jerry's fault

She couldn't even remember the guy's name.

What was it?

Kale? Claudio? Cain?

Whatever, what she knew is that she had to get out of there before the guy would wake up.

Slowly but surely, she crept out of the bed, removing the guys arm from around her, careful not to wake him.

Krystal tiptoed to the front of the bed, and slowly bent down to pick up her clothes.

She hurriedly pulled them on, picking her shoes, but not wearing them, and tiptoed towards the door, opening it and slowly closing it behind her, as she left the handsome man she had spent the night with behind.

Carlos woke up with a yawn, stretching his hands above his head.

He opened an eye, glancing around, before rolling to the other side of the bed.

Wait!

This wasn't his room!

Carlos sat up abruptly, confused as to where he was.

He looked down to see he was naked, and his clothes were on the floor.

The space beside him looked slightly ruffled, like someone had slept there beside him.

Then he remembered.

Flashes of last night came back to him. From the drinks, to the dance, to the girl he met, to both of them stumbling into the room, to the wild night.

And the only thing that could come into his mind that moment was;

Oh shit!
