Daniel’s POV
Daniel saw the ball about to hit the crossbar; he lined himself up for the rebound. The ball was incoming, and he slowly aligned himself as the anticipating crowd sat on the edge of their seats. He aimed for a swift strike. Woosh! Defender Matt Downey from the Brawlers team swooped in and delivered a brutal tackle that sent Daniel rolling across the soccer field. A gasping crowd stood in disappointment, raging as the whistle was blown; Daniel never got up, teammates from the Pinnacles team rushed over to attend to Daniel. “We need a stretcher!” Shouted Dane, Daniel’s best friend, who plays assist. Both coaches rushed onto the field as quarreling momentum began to rise, a red card rose high above the referee’s head… Matt Downey lowered his head and walk away in the direction of the his coach, Eric. Coach Eric discreetly gave him a thumbs up the moment he raised his head to look in his direction as he exited the field. “Are you okay son?” Ask the referee, Daniel nodded yes. “No you’re not. Let’s get him out of here!” As the ambulance disappeared beyond the stadium gates, word slowly began to spread across Holloway Community College. Students checked their phones while whispers travelled through campus corridors, eventually reaching the cheerleading court where Jane and Rebecca were practicing their newest routine. “Are you okay, Captain?” asked Jessica. “No, I think I pulled a muscle in my thigh” Rebecca immediately turned around and shouted “How bad is it?” “It doesn’t feel so good. Can someone bring me a bag of ice?” The rest of the girls started to gather as Rebecca slid across the court with a bag of ice, she placed it on Jane’s thigh.. “No no! higher.. right there.” Daniel was on his way to the hospital for an emergency operation because he had broken a hip bone and dislocated his right shoulder. “You will be alright. How many fingers am I holding up?” “tree? I don’t know… what does this have to do with my injuries doc? “Nothing, shut up. How are we looking up front?” The doctor asks the driver. “We’ll be there in 20!” he responded. “Weow! Weow! Weow!” The ambulance sped down the empty street While Daniel fought through pain inside the ambulance, life on the field refused to stop. The referee gathered both coaches while thousands of spectators anxiously waited for play to resume; the coaches argued over the incident. The Pinnacle’s coach Miles, argued saying that it was planned sabotage, while the Brawlers’ coach Eric denied, but coach Miles strongly stuck to his point. The referee blew the whistle and the match went back into full gear. While the scores stayed tied with two goals each, substitute Jerome who replaced Daniel had just lost a tackle, and the Brawlers finally saw an opening to make a strike at the goal. They made sharp accurate passes across the field, a signature strategic move of the Brawlers that dominated matches. The last square into the penalty area of the Pinnacles left the crowd speechless as striker Maxwell completed the attack with a sharp left hook that lodged the ball into the back of the Pinnacles goal’s net, it was a sad moment as the crowd barely made a sound; tensions were high, and hearts ached silently. The match ended with the pinnacles losing three goals to two. The girls had just received the news about Daniel’s injury and the team’s loss. Panic immediately set in, and they rushed to the county hospital. Jane completely forgot about her own injury; the worry she felt for Daniel temporarily overpowered the pain in her thigh. “If you had let us go to the match instead of staying back for practice, none of this would have happened…” Rebecca said to Jane “How? How would we have prevented this from happening Rebecca? Mrs. Know It All, tell me..” argued back Jane “Don’t talk to me like any of this is my fault, if anyone’s, then it is your-“ Jessica cut Rebecca short by adding “Arguing won’t undo the damage, let us just go to find out how bad a situation he’s in, and later we’ll forgive ourselves.” Rebecca and Jane were maliciously quiet for the entire journey. The operating room was in full swing as Daniel was taken in as an “FCE” (First Class Emergency), no one was allowed to see him until his operations were completed and resolved. “Where is he?” asked Rebecca “Yeah.. where is he?” asked Jane “He is on the third floor, in the emergency room. But you cannot enter!” Jackson swiftly added. Jackson was the Pinnacles water boy who went with Daniel in the ambulance. Since he had general information about all the players that could answer necessary questions regarding medical history, he is extremely claustrophobic and had to wait outside the facility. The girls rushed inside while Jane had a noticeable limp. They tried to enter the emergency room but were stopped by medical personnel, Jane was noticeably struggling at the back of the group and was immediately questioned about her limping. “Were you hurt in this accident also?” “No, I was at cheerleading practice, I think I pulled a muscle stretching. Will my boyfriend be okay?” “He has a dislocated shoulder, a broken pelvis, and minor internal bleeding, but he will survive.” “Are you certain?” Jane asked, as she broke down in tears. “Yes, he will be fine” the nurse added “Now let me get you someone to look at that leg for you.” “No, I will be alright. Just go check on my boyfriend.” “I am afraid it is protocol to attend to anyone who walks in here with noticeable injuries of any sort young woman” Jane then accepted and went along with her, she was given relaxers along with pain killers and was told to take two weeks off from cheerleading practice. Jane returned to the girls, only to realize that most of them had fallen asleep, and that the rest of the soccer team had arrived. She later noticed that Rebecca was no longer present, wondering where she had gone outside with Jackson.Dane\Sympathy's POV That same evening, Dane went on a walk to clear his mind; the text he had received after the match was still on repeat within his uneasiness. “Maybe I just need a drink.” He thought He still had not alerted anyone about the update from the unknown number; he knew these types of threats had a long shelf life, and some, like Coach Miles, were not so easy to get close to comfortably. Sympathy found him at the vending machine outside the library, which meant either fate or a very good guess, since Dane had told no one where he’d be. “You’ve been avoiding me since spring semester started,” she said, no greeting first, arms folded over a stack of textbooks like how she always remembers to be. “I would like to know why, or I will assume it is because you are a coward.” “I’m not avoiding you. What do you want from me Sympathy? “You walk the long way around the quad now. I have watche
Daniel’s POVSebastian showed up first, backpack still on, cleats slung over one shoulder from his own practice across town. He leaned next to the foot of Daniel’s bed without thinking of his injuries, like a typical 12-year-old “I heard you scored a goal today, big brother,” Sebastian said with a mocking tone of sarcasm.“Wait until I get out of this bed, you knucklehead. I’m stuck in this bed being useless.”“You’re not useless; you’re just on the bench, as always, bench boy,” Sebastian said it with such conviction that Daniel actually laughed, the first real laugh that hadn’t hurt his ribs in days.“Why’d you even come here today, trying to make me feel some type of way?”“Nah! Just teasing you a little bit. You can’t chase me around the hospital. Haha”“You little wimp. How was school today?”“I know, I love you too.” Sebastian pulled a crumpled drawing out of his backpack, the Pinnacl
Jane’s POV Jane sat cross-legged on Rebecca’s bed, phone balanced against her knee, replaying the same twelve seconds of video for the fourth time. Rebecca lounged against the headboard, filing her nails as the whole thing bored her. “You’re gonna wear a hole in my screen,” Rebecca said. Why don’t you send it to yourself already? She then asked “I can’t believe he actually says your name like that.” Jane laughed, but it came out thinner than she meant it to. “You weren’t lying; he does have a big dick. I’m so ashamed of how badly I want to feel it stretching me out.” “I don’t lie about dick, Jane. I lie about everything else.” “Comforting much.” Jane set the phone face down for a second, studying Rebecca instead. “How many times has it happened? Actually happened, not the version you tell me.” “Does it matter?” “It matters to me. I should know everything you do when nobody’s looking; I’m your best friend” Rebecca set the nail file down with a sigh, as the quest
Dane’s POVThe team bus rattled down the highway toward the Ridgeline Raptors’ campus, and Dane kept his forehead pressed to the window, watching the tree line blur into a green smear. Beside him, Oscar was three energy drinks deep and narrating a TikTok trend nobody asked about.“Bro, you ever notice Jerome talks to the ball before he kicks it?” Oscar asked, craning his neck toward the back of the bus where Jerome sat alone, headphones in, nodding to something only he could hear.“Everybody’s got their thing,” Dane said. “Long as it goes in the net, he can talk to the grass for all I care.”“I’m just saying. Man’s weird.”“You talk to your cleats before every match. Kissed the left one twice last week.”“That’s different. That’s tradition.” Oscar cracked open a fourth energy drink like the first three hadn’t happened. “Tradition ain’t weird.”Coach Miles stood at the front of the bus once they pulled into the visitors’ lot, one hand braced on the overhead rail, his voice carrying ove
Daniel’s POVWednesday morning; a late coach still lying in bed – fast asleep, no worries in the world whatsoever; the warm rays of the sun shone directly onto her eyes from her window. “Oh, good riddance!” She sprang from her bed as if springs spread all through her mattress. Late for cheerleading flash rehearsal before lectures. She arrived on campus and immediately went in search of her girls. “Look who decided to show up finally,” said one of the girls sitting in the court where they all waited.“Don’t kill me bitches, I overslept. What did I miss? Who pulled a hamstring filling in for me?” “Funny! You got jokes. Pull me up!” Victoria stretches a hand to team leader Jane. The girls wasted no time after Jane arrived, but Jane and Rebecca seemingly had a bad tension spiraling between them; many of the other girls were beginning to notice, gossip silently spreading Between their eyes and the tapping on the legs that were followed by a point of the lips – proved that observation
Daniel’s and Faithful’s POV “Holy fuck! She’s coming! I’m still hard as a fucking rock! She’s going to notice! Why does my hip have to be busted now???” Daniel cries inside his mind. Warm bath water gently releases steam, nurse’s shoes achingly tapping against concrete, broad hips pacing in slow motion, boobs perked to the perfect tease; covered and glazed in white, skin-tight attire.“You’re awfully silent this evening. Cat’s got your tongue?” Nurse Faithful asks.Nervous and shy all in one, Daniel tries his hardest to hide his boner by crumbling his bed sheet over his stiff, hard, bulging dick poking up from his thigh. Nurse Faithful places the pail in its usual spot beside his bed.“Had a long day, Mr. Whitman?” she caringly asks.“Mmhm. A very long day.” He sarcastically responds.“I can relate,” she says. “How about we get your top half undressed?” she asks.“Mmhm, sure, sure.” Daniel nods.Nurse Faithful carefully raises the head of his bed far enough for Daniel to be elevated
