I don't see why you should go, you can just as well send any other person in the pack to go instead” My Beta, Zayne questioned as I filled my bag with a few clothes and essentials that I would need. “Firstly, this is very important for my career. I need this if I want to actualize my dreams, I have to go there and maybe while I am there I could keep an eye on things by myself” “No, you know that you do not. You are already so popular that attending some stupid seminar would not change anything, it is just bringing alot of publicity your way and endangering the pack My back turned to him, I gritted my teeth in anger . It was always the pack, the pack the pack. Don't get me wrong , I loved my pack, I was the freaking Alpha but for once, I needed to do something for myself and not just for the pack. All my life, I was raised with that statement being resounded in my head every few minutes. ‘The pack comes first, no matter what happened. And , yes, I agreed that the pack always came first but that statement had also made me lose everything I held dear to in life. It robbed me of my happiness and yet I had no other choice but to just continue, continue in the same footsteps that ruined me. “I know how you feel…” “No, you don't. You know nothing of how I fell, so don't act like you do “ I growled under my breath, trying to reign in the anger that was simmering just beneath my skin. “Look man, people are talking, they don't think the publicity is worth it. That's all “ “People? Or you? “ I asked, my eyebrow up on question as I stared at him. Before, I trusted Zayne with my whole life, I could literally put my life in his hands. He was my Beta and my best friend. But at the same time, he was the first to jump at the ruins of my life to devour it. “ I won't lie, I don't think it is a good idea. We both know that you might be recruited if you attend this seminar” “And?” I asked as I threw more things into my bag. “You would be in the spotlight, and that is not where you should be, if you're there, it would just be a matter of time before people start to notice things, to ask questions.” “Did this occur to you when you accepted to be part of the big hockey leagues?” I heard him suck in a harsh breath. “That does not concern this.” “Really? I mean, if not for the injury on your shoulder, and people asking questions on how such an injury would've healed, would you have left the team?” I paused everything I was doing, my gaze searching his face as the silence in the room became deafening. “I thought as much” I zipped up my bag and began leaving the room, my shoulder hitting his. “You know why I had to do that, why I had to go join the leagues” “Don't” I growled “You don't want to hear it? You don't want to accept it?” “Zayne!” I growled even louder “You don't want to hear about how I am a nothing because of your existence” “I did nothing to cause that” “Your mere existence is the cause of every disaster that has occured” My heart clenched in pain “You don't mean that..” “Is that what you think?” I could hear the smirk that I was sure was plastered on his face He knew just how much I sought his validation, how much I looked up to him. “I never asked to be written into any stupid prophecy” “Then walk away!!” My breath caught, bye knew what walking away would mean for me, for the pack, for everyone. He knew that , that would be the cause of my death. I began walking away then I stopped on my tracks, unwilling to leave without putting him in his place and letting him know that I was no longer that young boy from before that sought his validation in everything that I did. “For so long, you have coveted what does not belong to you. It seems you forget that I am the Alpha, the rightful Alpha and my decision is final and can not be opposed. It would be in your good interest if you try to remember that the next time you challenge me Beta. Remember your place, brother” I said with my Alpha voice and from the corner of my eyes I saw him struggle not to cower. A smile appeared on my lips when I saw his head go down in submission despite his will. I was his Alpha , no matter what he felt, that did not change the truth. As I say in the car driving me to the airport all I could wonder was if I was making the right decision. The pack all thought I was going in search of the child from the prophecy , the one that was meant to unite with me to defeat the enemy but how I could go in search of her if I did not believe in that prophecy. From birth I had known I was the other person who was spoke of in the prophecy and I hated the fact that , that was what I was known as, the prophecy child. No one saw me for who I actually was, Blake Del Monté, I was just the Del Monté son from the prophecy , the son that took his elder brother's spot as the alpha because he was the prophecy child. Pushing all those thoughts to my head, I had no idea what I was doing these days but at least I was sure of this one. Once, I had let my duties that had been drilled into me since birth rule my every actions but for once I was going to be Blake Del Monté, the latest recruit of the country's hockey team and not the Alpha of the Blood moon pack. With that thought ,I blocked the pack link and let it all fade behind me as I got closer to my dreamsBlake's POVI was at the weakest I had been in a very long time, when I had received Zayne’s message to drop everything and return back to the pack, I had not been expecting what I had faced. But that was over, and I was back, I was going to see her today.Immediately I had finished with pack matters, I had not waited to recuperate in the seclusion cave, instead, I took the next flight back to her. I had left in such a hurry without telling her anything, did she question what happened? Most of all, did she miss me even a bit?“Nice of you to finally join us” Emmett's voice came from behind me, pulling me out of my thoughts “Is everything...?”I have a curt nod in response to him“Okay, get into the field, extra laps for lateness” he grumbled and I smirked in response and jogged into the field I jogged into the field, falling into place behind the others as we started another lap.My legs were already aching from the flight, but I pushed through it. There was something strangely com
Rosaline's POV“I find it odd that you do not know where your boyfriend has been for the past two to three weeks, or are we missing something here?” Candace asked from across the table, her eyes drilling into meI froze at the question, it was not the first time she had brought it up since Blake decided to conveniently disappear, neither was it the first since lunch began.“Maybe you should get off her back and stop asking that question every five minutes” Liv shot back at her, not even looking up from her phone A grimace crossed Candace face and I knew she was mad, she hated it whenever anyone opposed her especially Liv. Liv always spoke her mind and her mind always criticised Candace, she always called her out and I was glad she did because I was too weak to do so.“I do not know why you guys do not find it odd. One moment Blake was in school and boom, he was gone, like vaporised and I mean, they mean their relationship quite known around campus, if they truly are in a relationship
Unknown POV “What do you have to tell me? Have you found the girl?” The figure in the hood asked from his position on the dias “I do not have a more definitive answer to give you , my lord but …..” The blonde muscled man, Caliper trailed off “But… There is always a fucking but, you are all useless. Unable to carry out simple instructions or to get anything done” The hooded figure growled out, getting to his feet and descending from the position where he had been seated. “I'm carrying out the instructions that were given to me” Caliper ground out and on a closer inspection, one could see the veins on his arms from the tight fist he made by his sides. “What is that to mean?” The figure asked , taking easy steps around Caliper. “I mean that you asked me to get rid of the ones from the prophecy and I'm doing just that, I've laid everything and it is all coming to play. Once the opportunity is right, I will strike. You do not expect this to be done overnight, I have to do a c
Rosaline’s POVWhat did it say about me, that I was greatly affected by Blake's reaction earlier, the fact that he could barely bear to spare a few words to me or to even be near me.But wasn't this what I wanted, I had wanted him to let me be, I had wanted him to stay away , to not have him hovering over me every moment and yet, now that he had disappeared, I found myself thinking about him at every momentIt had been two weeks, two weeks without any form of conversation with him, I had not seen him since the day in the hall ways, in actual truth, no one had, it was like, he was there one moment and gone the next, making me wonderful if the past few weeks had been a dream.I had been fending off questions from the guys on the hockey team about his whereabouts, giving one excuse or the other because how could his girlfriend have no idea where he was.The dance studio had always been the one place that made sense. It smelled faintly of resin, polished wood, and pointé shoes from old r
Blake's POV-“You're fine.”What the hell was that?!I muttered to myself incredulously as I stalked down the hallway. All night, I had run over different scenarios in my mind and the different ways meeting her would play out, but what I had not anticipated was losing all sense of speech the second I came in contact with her.Something was wrong somewhere.Horribly wrong. She shouldn't have this kind of effect on me.It was not possible. She was just a human and I had a fucking mate. The thought should have settled something inside me.It should have reminded me of who I was and where my priorities were supposed to be. The prophecy, my ward, my mate, my fucking packInstead, it only made the frustration worse.Because if she was just a human, then why did my chest tighten every time she looked at me?Why did my heart beat like it was trying to break out of my ribcage whenever she was near? Why had I spent the entire night replaying our argument instead of getting some damn sleep?I ha
Rosaline’s POVI could not sleepNot even for a millisecond, my brain refused to shut down and let me get some rest.I was the girl that could fall asleep under any kind of condition, in school, at practice, at the club, anywhere but here, in the quiet of my room, in the cloudiness of my bed, one of my most expensive purchases, I was finding it so hard to sleep. My brain kept on running laps, all I could replay was Blake's expression when I got down from the car and walk away and all I could remember was that he had not come after me“But who the fuck was I kidding” I sat up on my bed muttering to myself “ You walked away to avoid him, to get away from him, why on earth would he come after you, this isn't some fantasy romance book where he would come begging me to come back to the car to fix things!” I huffed and fell back on my bedI remembered that hurt look in his eyes, the exhausted tone of his voice to the anger in his tone when he yelled, the way his eyes flashed so angrily. I h
Rosaline Refusing to meet his eyes, I clutched my bag tightly deciding that the best thing to do at this point was to pretend like I had no idea who he was. “Mystery girl” “Don't call me that” I said in a rushed hushed tone, people had already began to notice the exchange between us and that
Rosaline The sharp pain that shot through my head was enough to tell me that I had did some pretty crazy things the previous night. I held my head between my hands and winced as I struggled to sit up As I peeled my eyes open with great difficulty, I jerked back in surprise. This looked nothing
Blake Since I shut off the pack link , I carried with me a gnawing feeling of guilt that I was going against everything I was brought up to be. But that was the main purpose of it all, I was done letting a stupid prophecy control me If any of them were up to it, they could as well marry that g
Rosaline It had been a five months since I had last heard anything about those men, I guess it was all due to the changes I had made. That day had made me realise just exactly the amount of danger that I was in and also just how much I valued my life and still wanted to be alive. After that day,
