LOGINSERA'S POV:
I held the kiss for a while before breaking it. Damien looked at me but I couldn’t tell what he felt Anger? Shock? Whatever, I ran out of the room, bumping Devin-who had witnessed it by the shoulder. I got out to where other students were but I didn’t want to meet anyone at the moment. “Sera” Devin caught my wrist “What?” I snapped at him, furious. “What was that?” he asked “You’re not blind, what does it look like?” I replied and took my hand from his “What is this attitude? What is wrong with you?” he raised his voice “Why are you bothered? I didn’t say anything about yours” my eyes stung with tears again but I won’t allow it. My heart was heavy like though an amount of knives were holding it down. “I didn’t do it” “Oh I suppose I was hallucinating you and Anna making out in that room” I scoffed “Why him though? You know who he is to me? It could have been anyone else” his voice dropped “The same goes to you” I raised my voice “Anna’s not someone I’m comfortable with, I told you every time but you promised she was just a friend” I said. Before he could say anything else, I shoved the scrambled letter to his chest. Then I glanced up to the second floor. Damien stood there, watching. “I saw it coming either ways” I ran off to my dorm that night, my foolishness consumed me. I was stupid enough to believe they were just friends. ~Next day. I got to ballet class early enough for stretches. At that time, I was alone in the room then Anna and her friends walked in, alongside other ballerinas. I didn’t spare her a glance and just continued my stretches then- “Sera!” she called. I didn’t look. “You must be angry about yesterday” she said “I’m sorry” she added. Tah! Sorry my ass! The coach came in and we were about to start when all phones went off with a notification. Even mine. They started exchanging glances and looking towards me, then I took out my phone too. When I saw it, my face went pale. I grew cold feet and palms. “Put your phones away, everyone” coach announced. I glanced at Anna but for the first time, she wasn’t the one behind my misfortune. The basket-ballers, they must have done this. I put my phone away and continued with class though with zero attention. I kept messing up and the coach had to let me off with a warning. I left the class for a break after. I walked down the hallway staring at my phone. Who posted this? I looked around, even freshmen were looking at me. The pictures of Damien of I were all over Crestmont student’s social page. There was one social rule that the whole school held up like a law. It didn’t make sense but it sure affected whoever was involved in it and I’m not just involved, I’m tangled in it. At a distance, I saw Damien and the rest of the team approaching. Immediately, I dashed into the storage room and waited till they passed. I got out and tried crossing the field, right then, the school’s alarm went off. Students began coming out, they soon spotted me, staring at me like pigeons staring at a piece of bread. I turned to leave when I bumped into someone. I stumbled backwards “Not so fast, princess” a guy said. Judging from his jersey, he was from the basketball team. “What are you doing? Get out of my way” I said. He scoffed like it meant nothing. Devin stepped in “Move” he faced the other boy while holding me behind him. Anna approached from behind “You’re one interesting girl, Sera” she said, everyone’s eyes moved to her. “Let’s talk somewhere else” Devin said, holding my letter in his other hand. Anna took the letter from him “What’s this?” she opened it. I reached for it but Madison- Anna’s best friend pushed me back. “Oh my gosh! It’s a confession letter” she raised it up, sending the crowd into awe. “Stop it Anna” I said, clearly enraged. She gave me a daring smirk and proceeded to read the letter. “Sera? You loved Devin and decided to kiss Damien?” she asked. People began filming the whole scene “Anna, stop this” Devin said, almost like a whisper “Stay out of it” she snapped at him “Did you lose your glasses and kissed the wrong person?” she asked “Girl left her eyes at home” a student laughed. I took in a deep breath “You’re going to regret this Anna” I said. “The only person regretting this would be you” she said then locked her arms with Devin “You know the rules” she smiled “Let Devin make his choice” she said. Silence fell then I saw Damien approach the field with his friends. “Devin, will you date someone like Sera? Or stay true to the law of Crestmont?” she asked. My eyes moved to Devin, expecting an answer. I needed validation “Make a choice man!” a student yelled, others following with a cheer. “You know what happens if you don’t” she looked up at him, a little too confident. Damn the stupid rule. Apparently, if I claimed someone, I had to stay loyal or I’d face the consequence. I didn’t claim Devin but Damien. If I get rejected by both guys, I’m doomed. “I’m sorry” Devin said. I looked away with a simple huff “Oh Damien!” Anna called. He paused from walking past the scene then turned around “You have a part here, aren’t you going to say something to Sera?” she asked. Must she make things more complicated that it is already? Damien’s eyes didn’t move from her “Anna” his called, calmly “Do you have a death wish?” he asked. I caught the look on her face. Disappointed “You have to make a choice” she stated again “You’re dumber than I’ve heard” he pointed at her “You, her and whatever is standing behind you” he pointed at Devin “Bunch of fools” he said. “You’re disturbing other club activities, move before I make things worse for everyone” he said then walked away. Devin took his arm from Anna and reached for me “Stay away from me” I refused and left the field. I didn’t have to hide or run anymore. The whole school knew. My first love rejected me. I got insulted by the one I kissed and got defeated by a “friend” Sera, will you ever win a battle?SERA’S POVAnna’s expression shifted. Oh she didn’t like Damien around“What are you doing here?” she asked Damien. His eyes moved to me then my slipper at a distance.Maki ran out from a corner and spotted us. She paused.Damien closed the distance between him and Anna“Pick it up” he said to her. Her?“Me? Are you silly?” Anna raised her voice“You have ten seconds, you won’t like what’ll happen after that” he said. The rest of his team stood behind him, his best friend- Jake, stood closely.Anna glared at me and slowly, she lowered herself to pick up my slipper.“Here” she held it toward me.I reached out to it but Damien grabbed my hand“Put it on her” he said “If you’re sorry, you shouldn’t let her injured self do things herself” he said.Gasps erupted from the crowd, everyone slipping their phones out to make a video.Anna put the slipper back on me then Damien turned to me with a smile, flashing his dimple at me“Does it fit?” he asked.I didn’t give a response“Make it fit” he
The ballet competition was approaching and the final rehearsal was happening.I got dressed in loose clothes and headed out. Damien was just coming out of his apartment tooWe stared at each other or a second“What are you looking at?” I asked “At least dress with a little bit of sense in it” he stated before leaving.“Before the elevator door closed, I yelled “How I dress is none of your business!".I went back into my apartment, mood ruined already. Then, I caught my reflection, compared it to how pretty other girls looked.Ugh!!!I changed to better clothes, still no match but i had to go to the academy either ways.I walked through the gates of the academy and a black car drove pass.It hadn't gone far when it stopped. The window went down then a lady peeped out"Sera" A woman waved me over.Devin's mum."Oh, Mrs. Will" I walked over to her"Come in, you don't look fine" She pushed the door open.Because of how close or families were, I had no choice but to get in."I haven't se
Sera's POVI had cleaned the entire apartment while waiting for Ethan to arrive.Damien wasn't home either. Who was I supposed to meet first?I paced around the living room, occasionally glancing at the door, until the doorbell finally rang.I hurried over and flung it open."Da—"I stopped when I saw Ethan standing outside instead. He glanced around the apartment."Are you expecting someone else?" he asked. My eyes fell on the plastic bags in his hands."No. Come in."I stepped aside to let him in. Before closing the door, I glanced outside one more time.Even his motorcycle wasn't there.Ethan wandered around the apartment for a while before returning to the living room, already digging into the food he'd brought."Did you spend all your feeding money getting this apartment?" he asked.Technically, yes."Not really," I replied, my mouth already stuffed with food.He took a seat on the couch, his attention fixed on his phone."Have you said hello to your neighbours?"I paused."Yeah,
Sera's POV: The academy's social page didn't go quiet immediately. They kept talking about Damien and I. "What the hell? Damien isn't even dating her" "They're going against the rules" Another said. Well not anymore! I stared at my reflection, already dressed up then I stepped out. Just as I turned to leave, I almost bumped into Damien who had been waiting there for God knows how long. Remembering what I did yesterday, I wasn't ready to meet him. I stepped aside about to walk away then — "Stop" He said. Like magic, my feet hit pause. "What do you want?" I asked, somewhat rude. He tilted his head, with a faint smile tugging at his lips "That's too rude for the girl who was begging me desperately to date her yesterday" He said. Offended, I faced him "Begged you?" Okay, maybe I did but, begged you?! I scoffed "What do you want, dear Damien" I said, forcing a little bit of politeness. He crossed his arms around his chest "Just because I agreed to fake date you doesn'
SERA'S POV. The next morning, the academy had contacted me to be there as soon as possible. According to the news, Anna's parents were going to be there too. They didn't say anything about bringing parents, what do they take me for? An orphan? I got dressed in regular clothes— a shirt and a pair of jeans. After clicking the door shut, I walked towards the elevator and headed down the apartment building. The revving engine of Damien's motorcycle almost took my soul out of me. He glanced at me before putting on his helmet. "Good morning" I raised my face, barely. He said nothing and just zoomed off. I watched him ride till he was out of sight then my eyes caught an object on the ground where he had just left. A card. I picked it up and saw that it was his apartment key card. "Careless huh?". I arrived at the academy, not long after, the students started exchanging glances as I made my way to the counsel room. Before I stepped in, I took in a deep breath then pushed the do
SERA'S POV. I got back to the apartment about to go in when the door next door clicked open from inside. I didn't look towards him and just tried to open mine. The keys kept fumbling in my hands till it fell. I felt my face burn from embarrassment. I tried to crouch down to get the keys, buying him enough time to at least help a woman in need. He was no longer there. What? He's so unreal for his attitude. "Can't even help a struggling schoolmate?" I muttered before going into the house. Mum had sent several texts : did you move already? :why aren't you picking up my calls And many others. I sighed while I chewed in frustration. Then, I glanced at my injured leg and ankle. Anna, she must've felt threatened when I mentioned the center stage. It's only a few weeks away and my recovery would take those weeks. She played well, doesn't mean I'll sit back. The center stage might not work but something else will. What's she so afraid of losing? After my meal, I was too
