SERA'S POV:

Maki called me after seeing the viral clips on the social page

“Never talk to him again! He’s such an idiot, how could he do that?” she yelled over the phone while I soaked my face in a bowl of water.

“But Sera, you could have just taken the punishment instead of kissing Damien” she said.

I took my face out of the water and let out a breath

“I panicked” I said “I could get expelled and if I do, my father’s going to be really disappointed” .

Maki sighed

“When will you move out?” she asked

“Maybe tomorrow, I can’t take this anymore” I stepped out of my room and saw all the notes at my door. I pulled them off and tossed them in the trash on my way out.

“I’ll be back tomorrow to help you move” she said and hung up.

Well, that was the only solution right now. Leaving this damn dorm.

~Next day.

I had packed all my stuff in boxes and just had to manage to go through this day before moving out.

An announcement was made throughout the school. All students were to head to the grand field for general P.E session.

I changed into at the academy’s P.E outfit, a pair of customized shirt and shorts.

Maki was back and at least I didn’t have to go through it alone.

“I’m gonna rip that bitch’s mouth open” she glared at Anna at a distance.

When we got closer, Anna flashed a smile at me

“Hi Sera” she said, her friends held us in a circle

“What do you want? Yesterday wasn’t enough?” Maki asked

“Stay out of it, Maki” Anna stared her down.

Anna took a step to me

“I told you, Sera. You’re no match for me” she said “Not with Devin, not with the competition and not in the academy” she said.

I looked into her eyes, tiredly.

“You’re full of yourself” I said “Devin only kissed you because he pitied you” he said “You forced him to” she said.

Anna’s smile faded a little too soon

“Offended? So soon? Oh don’t be, I’m just starting with you, Anna” she said “You took my distraction away, I appreciate that. From now, watch your back because I’ll be coming for you and that center stage, I’ll take it too. Just a matter of time” I said and walked away with Maki.

I left feeling the bit accomplished. What I didn’t know was Anna coming at me behind.

“Bitch!” she pushed me to the ground.

My ankle twisted as I fell hard to the ground.

An excruciating pain tore from my throat.

“Blood” Maki announced, drawing attention from the others.

The pain wasn’t from my twisted ankle, it was from the nail pierced through my skin on my leg.

“Anna!” Maki screamed at her trying to help me up.

Tears flowed down my cheek as I held my leg in pain, the nail, stuck deep in my leg.

The field instructor rushed towards us and ordered someone take me to the nurse immediately.

Right then, that fool decided to play again.

Anna fell backwards, like she fainted.

The instructor went to her then snatched Devin who came towards me

“Take Anna to the nurse now” he said, then the instructor himself, carried me in his arms headed to the infirmary.

On his way, he met Damien

“Here here!” he put me to him “To the nurse, I’ll call the school’s hospital now” he said and turned away immediately.

My hand gripped his shirt as tight as I could, the pain spread through my body like poison.

We were about to go into the infirmary when the ambulance siren came at a distance

“Are you kidding me?” Damien hissed then headed downstairs again.

“Come with us” the nurse said

“I don’t even know her” he walked away without further discussion.

Devin approached at a distance but the ambulance took off before he could reach me.

They began first aid on my leg while I battled with the pain.

~Hospital

The last thing I remembered was the nurses trying to put me to sleep. Guess they succeeded.

I moved gently then noticed my foot. Bandaged and with support.

The curtains slid open with force

“You’re awake?” Damien asked.

Why’s he here? Didn’t he leave before?

“You’re really a pain in the ass” he said “Do you what I had to give up to be here?” he said almost like he was scolding me

“I’m sorry”

“You think sorry would fix what’s going on at the academy?” he asked “You” he moved closer “You invaded my space, kissed me and dragged me into your little drama” he said

“I didn’t mean it, I swear. I panicked” I said

“Then you better panic again and fix this” he cast one last look of disgust at me before leaving.

You were the one who didn’t let me go and you’re complaining I used you? Pathetic.

The instructor came along with Devin and Maki to the hospital

“Anna would be punished for this” he said

“Just a punishment? Why not expelled? This is serious, it could cost Sera her classes” Maki blew up in rage

“The school council will take care of it” he said “What’d the doctor say?” he asked.

Devin who had just come back from the doctor spoke

“He said you’ll recover fast, just a few weeks would be enough” he said.

I didn’t spare a glance at him either.

I got up from the bed then Devin helped me

“Don’t” I took his hands off me

Maki helped instead

“I’ll help you move your things, just stay at the dorm” she said.

“Wait…” Devin stood before me “You’re moving?” he asked

“Of course, she’s about to die because of you, what do you expect her to do?” Maki replied then we left the hospital.

I waited at the dorm while Maki helped me move with her car.

I’m still tangled in this school even if I move, I had to make one work.

Devin rejected me already but Damien…I dare not.

I leaped out of the room hoping to meet Maki, luckily, I did.

“I was just coming to get you, come on” she said and walked me to the car.

We left the academy’s gates and headed to my new apartment.

“Are you sure you can stay alone?” she asked

“I’ll be fine, go ahead” I said to Maki then she left reluctantly “Call me if you need anything” she said.

I went into my new apartment, just the right size and location.

Coach called

“I heard about the incident, are you okay?” she asked

“The doctor said I will be” I replied

“Take some weeks off, resume when you’re fine” she said then hung up.

I couldn’t pick up my mum’s calls either. I couldn’t take another night of nagging and a thousand “I told you”.

I got hungry and decided to get some food from the store nearby.

I leaped out and locked the door behind me. I walked down the corridors when to take the elevator because apparently taking the stairs wouldn’t be the best option.

The elevator doors opened and just as I was about to step in, someone stepped out.

Black boots. Black helmet.

Damien?

We stared at each other for a while then his expression shifted

“Did you stalk me?’ I asked

“Stalk you? I live here” I replied.

He said nothing and walked past me.

I waited to see where he went to.

Avoiding him at school wasn’t that difficult. Avoiding him at home was much worse especially when he’s my next door neighbor?

Can these days get any worse?!

  • The Captain I Shouldn't Want   Chapter 7

Sera's POV: The academy's social page didn't go quiet immediately. They kept talking about Damien and I. "What the hell? Damien isn't even dating her" "They're going against the rules" Another said. Well not anymore! I stared at my reflection, already dressed up then I stepped out. Just as I turned to leave, I almost bumped into Damien who had been waiting there for God knows how long. Remembering what I did yesterday, I wasn't ready to meet him. I stepped aside about to walk away then — "Stop" He said. Like magic, my feet hit pause. "What do you want?" I asked, somewhat rude. He tilted his head, with a faint smile tugging at his lips "That's too rude for the girl who was begging me desperately to date her yesterday" He said. Offended, I faced him "Begged you?" Okay, maybe I did but, begged you?! I scoffed "What do you want, dear Damien" I said, forcing a little bit of politeness. He crossed his arms around his chest "Just because I agreed to fake date you doesn'

  • The Captain I Shouldn't Want   Chapter 6

SERA'S POV. The next morning, the academy had contacted me to be there as soon as possible. According to the news, Anna's parents were going to be there too. They didn't say anything about bringing parents, what do they take me for? An orphan? I got dressed in regular clothes— a shirt and a pair of jeans. After clicking the door shut, I walked towards the elevator and headed down the apartment building. The revving engine of Damien's motorcycle almost took my soul out of me. He glanced at me before putting on his helmet. "Good morning" I raised my face, barely. He said nothing and just zoomed off. I watched him ride till he was out of sight then my eyes caught an object on the ground where he had just left. A card. I picked it up and saw that it was his apartment key card. "Careless huh?". I arrived at the academy, not long after, the students started exchanging glances as I made my way to the counsel room. Before I stepped in, I took in a deep breath then pushed the do

  • The Captain I Shouldn't Want   Chapter 5

SERA'S POV. I got back to the apartment about to go in when the door next door clicked open from inside. I didn't look towards him and just tried to open mine. The keys kept fumbling in my hands till it fell. I felt my face burn from embarrassment. I tried to crouch down to get the keys, buying him enough time to at least help a woman in need. He was no longer there. What? He's so unreal for his attitude. "Can't even help a struggling schoolmate?" I muttered before going into the house. Mum had sent several texts : did you move already? :why aren't you picking up my calls And many others. I sighed while I chewed in frustration. Then, I glanced at my injured leg and ankle. Anna, she must've felt threatened when I mentioned the center stage. It's only a few weeks away and my recovery would take those weeks. She played well, doesn't mean I'll sit back. The center stage might not work but something else will. What's she so afraid of losing? After my meal, I was too
