A sleek black car swiveled to a stop in front of a gigantic baroque building that serves as the pack house. Kat came down from the car, slamming the door close and walked briskly towards the entrance.

She had spent the last two days at the orphanage near the pack’s border, pretending to care for the children there. Most of them were omegas, and she raised them to serve her purpose. But now only two remain, not enough for the operation she had in mind.

She entered the pack house and was about to climb the stairs to Vitale's office when she bumped into someone.

“Watch where you’re going, you clumsy cow!” Kat snapped, catching herself as she stumbled back, glaring at the person who had dared to touch her. It was Gia, the pack nurse and Natalia’s wet nurse.

“I’m sorry, Luna. I didn’t see you. I was on my way to check on one of the warriors who collapsed during patrol.” Gia apologized, bowing her head.
