Chapter Fifty-one

Orchid glanced at her twin brother over Babybaby’s head. She was carrying a sleeping Babybaby as they trudged wearily on, shifting to adjust her to the other side of her nape and shoulders.

They had barely exchanged a word since the argument. She sighed as she shifted Babybaby’s weight again; Obiora ignored her, staring stonily ahead. Maybe she was a bit too harsh on him even though it was for his own good; Obiora was as passionate as he was reckless.

For all their troubles, they were still trying to leave the city, they had been forced to get down from the public transport when they found out all roads leading out of Onitsha were swarmed with police checkpoints, their only other option was to wait until dark so they needed some place to hide as they still owed a few hours before sunset.

Shettima had suggested they leave the sub-urban parts of the city for the slums, away from the prying eyes of any street cams that might aid the institute in picking
