Chapter 17: Damien's Threat

Ariana's POV

I went through the contract multiple times, and in the end, I signed it. The pay was good, and if anything, back at the restaurant I was still serving. Again, going to work means I will not be stuck in this four-walled bedroom. There was a knock on my door, interrupting my thoughts.

"Yes, come in," I said, but remembered I needed to use the key to unlock the door.

I grabbed the key and placed the file on the chair as I stood up, but before I could fully stand on my feet, the door to my room opened, and Miriam walked in carrying a train.

"Here is your breakfast," she said and placed the tray on the table.

"Thank you," I said, and she walked out of the room without responding.

I walked to the table and uncovered the tray. It was a plate of French fries. That was all, no meat, ketchup, nothing. Just French fries sitting on the plate. I don't know if she counted the fries, because it was a maximum of 20 pieces on the plate. I was hungry and decided to ignore her. I ate the fries like that.

I heard another knock on my door, and I invited the person in, but this time the person didn't enter. I wiped my hands clean, walked to the door, used the card to unlock it and opened it. Behind the door was Michael.

"I came to find out if you have eaten and also if you are okay with the contract?" he asked, standing behind the door.

"Yes," I replied, not ready to complain about anything.

I don't intend to stay that and have my child taken away from me when I give birth to it. With the money I am going to earn, I will have enough to care for myself and my baby. I felt there was no need to complain about anything Miriam is doing, or will do.

"Okay, your clothes are in," Michael said and moved out of the way.

Two men walked in carrying bags. They placed them on the floor in the middle of the room.

"Alpha Damien, would like to see you in his office before lunch," Michael said after the men were done moving the bags in.

"Okay," I replied ,and Michael left.

I closed the door and turned around to look at the multiple bags numbering to about 25 sitting in the middle of the room. I walked up to them and checked them. They were all filled with clothes. Surprisingly, the clothes were all my sizes. There were shoes, and cosmetic products.

"Hmmm," I said as I went through the things.

I quickly stuffed the closets with the clothes and shoes, and arranged the cosmetic products on the dressing table. Once I was done, I remembered Michael said Alpha Damien wanted to see me before lunch. I exited the room and, recalling from memory, I headed in the direction I had come from with Miriam a couple of hours ago. I found the spiral staircase and hurried my steps to it. I used the same way and soon found Damien's office. I gently knocked on the door and heard his deep voice invite me in. I pushed the door open and entered. As soon as his gaze met mine, he stood up.

"I need to talk to you," Alpha Damien said, and I remained silent. "Let's sit over there," he said, pointing to the couch.

I nodded and walked towards the couch. I sat down and he sat down opposite me.

"I know our first meeting wasn't a pleasant one," he began and I stared at him. "As you preferred, I have made an adjustment to the  rules," he continued. "All that I expect from you, is to stay here till you have the child," he said.

"Do not try to run away. If you do, I will find you and when I do, you will experience the real Alpha Damien. Every rumour you have heard while in Pearl City would come to past," he threatened.

Okay, our first meeting a couple of hours ago was unpleasant. How is this one pleasant? I thought after listening to him threaten my life.

"You will kill me and the baby?" I asked, staring at him.

"I will kill you. Not that baby," he said to me.

I looked into his eyes and saw something different. Earlier today, he was expressionless but there was calmness in him. Now all I see is anger.

"How will you kill me, without hurting the baby?" I asked, after hearing him say, he will kill me and not the baby.

"I will just have the fetus transferred from you into another woman," he said and I gulped.

Is that possible. I thought staring at him.

"So don't try anything funny and believe you are safe because of the pregnancy," Damien said. "I will not harm my child, but I would not think twice about destroying you," he threatened.

Okay, now this is the Damien we all know. Wherever he went a couple of hours ago, he was back. I nodded reading the warning in his eyes. He meant every word.

"Good! Work starts at 8 am. We will leave here at 6 am. Be ready by then," he said and stood up. "You can leave," he said over his shoulder, and I stood up without a word.

I have heard of statements like, putting the fear of God into people. Damien did just that by putting the fear of him, back into me. I was so terrified for the couple of minutes I sat there listening to him. He called me into his office to put fear into me? I thought as I walked towards the door.

I opened the door and exited the office. I started wondering why he threatened me like that and I remembered, Michael heard me when I told Miriam to just leave the door unlocked and I will be gone by noon. He must have told Alpha Damien.

I walked towards the spiral staircase to return to my bedroom. I started climbing the staircase in twos.

"And who are you?" I heard a voice asked from behind

I turned around to see the person. I met the gaze of a woman, beautifully dress, with her hair held up in a beautiful bun. She had sparkling diamond earrings dangling on her ears. She had on a full make-up. I stared at her not sure how to introduce myself. I didn't know who she is.

"Are you mute?" she asked staring at me and I still didn't have an answer.

Jeremy's POV"Would you take me back, knowing I am carrying Alpha Damien's child?" Ariana asked me, and I stared at her, wondering what she took me for. This girl must think I am stupid. She wants me to take her back. I thought. But come to think of it, why would she say Alpha Damien is responsible? I thought, but it quickly hit me. There was no way I could confirm her story. Wow! Ariana, you are smart with your lies. I thought, but I kept a straight face. I will play along till I get her in my bed."You are my woman, and I still love you," I said. "My only problem is, it's Alpha Damien we are talking about. How do I hide you from him?" I asked, trying to see if she had already planned a way to escape, whoever the father of the child she is carrying is. She went silent. I patiently waited, believing she was thinking of something."Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could get back together. But he always finds me. It doesn't matter where I am. He finds me. I don't

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 56: It's Too Late - Part 1

Jeremy's POVI was still mad at Ariana for cheating on me, but seeing her again, I wish I had never married Melody. It's only been four days since I started working in the company, and I have had the opportunity to see Ariana twice. She looked more beautiful than before. Even though I wished I had never married Melody, there was nothing I could do about it. She was already six weeks pregnant, and I am responsible. That mistake I made six weeks ago, allowing my desire to take the better of me.This was all Ariana's fault. If she had allowed me to touch her, instead of playing Virgin Mary, waiting to be married before, I wouldn't have yielded to Melody's seduction. That day, I was horny. I went to Ariana, and she was not ready. I left the apartment to cool off at a nearby club, and that was when I ran into Melody. I had always known, Melody's fight with Ariana was just because she liked me, but I was with Ariana. Melody did attempt to drug me, but I saw it, so I didn't take that drink

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 55: Do You Have a Death Wish?

Ariana's POV"Damien, you can't take away a girl's virginity and expect another man to accept her like that. If you didn't want to marry her, you should have kept your pants zipped up," I heard Alpha Leo say, and I stared at Victoria, sitting directly opposite us, looking all pitiful."Damien, at first, I wanted to be with you because I like you, but I realised you didn't, so I decided to keep my distance, waiting to see if you like me for me or because of the mate bond. That was why I was mostly not around," I heard Victoria say. "I am sorry for everything I did, I only did them because I loved you. That night, I came into your room after reflecting on what you told me. I wanted to inform you that I was going back home, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I may be in the entertainment industry, but I kept myself away from men. Now, you have taken that away from me," she ended her statement in tears. My heart went out to her. I shifted my gaze to Damien, only to find him rolling h

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 54: You Must Take Responsibility

Ariana's POVDamien's proposal left me shocked. Everything was happening so fast, I really couldn't understand. Yes, I liked him when I first saw him, but now, it's like he suddenly cares about me, not because of the pregnancy. And I don't know what kind of cologne he is using now, but I believe it has an aphrodisiac effect. I have never felt this before, to the extent that I can't even control myself. What does he want from me? I thought as we exited the room. What is all this about? I thought. He wouldn't let go of my hand, and it was like he didn't care who saw us walking hand in hand like lovers. With my thoughts trying to figure out what was happening to me, my desires were kept at bay, and I felt normal. We were soon outside, and I wanted to go to the SUV, but he pulled me towards his car, opened the door for me, and I got inside, still wondering what was happening. Inside the car, sitting so close to him, the feeling started again. His scent was so comforting, yet it aroused

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 53: I would Gladly Step Down

Damien's POVI lay on the bed with Ariana sleeping in my arms. I have never felt this way about a woman before. I felt complete with her. She was truly my mate. I stared at the cane injuries on her back and remembered something my mom told me when I was 13 years old. She told me there are healers in her family line. It comes as a blessing, and one lucky child becomes a healer. It sounded so fascinating. An ability to heal others. It was an ability I yearned for. Not because I wanted to be special, but because of my human best friend, Jayson. We met in school. He was always sick. He spends half a day in school and the rest of the day in the hospital. He was unable to participate in any school activities because he would end up having episodes and end up in the hospital. I wanted to be a healer so that I could heal him. I felt so sad when I saw him sitting all alone during fun games. Sometimes, I stop playing and just sit by him, so he won't feel left out. My mom had told me I was a sp

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 52: Unexpected Proposal

Ariana's POVI opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the ceiling. I shifted my gaze to the side and realised I was alone in bed. I dragged myself into a sitting position, rubbing my eyes. While rubbing my eyes, I recalled the events of the previous night. My attempted escape, the huge beast that caught me mid-air, Damien's confession, the passionate kisses, and finally sleeping in Damien's arms. My eyes scanned the entire room for anything that would prove Damien was here or that he was still around, but I found nothing. My eyes fell on a covered tray sitting on the table. Surprisingly, I felt better and stronger. I looked down at myself, and I was still in the patient gown with my back exposed. I reached for my back and I didn't feel any pain, like before. To get a confirmation of how my back looked now, I got out of bed and walked to the standing mirror in the room. I looked at my back, and the wounds had healed. All that was left were scars. I stared at my back in total sh
