Ariana's POV

The morning was still young. I sat on my bed, wondering if the rumours about Alpha Damien Dakota were wrong or if he was being lenient with me because I was carrying his child. My stomach growled, followed by a feeling of hunger. I was unsure about the time, but I had not eaten since last night.

I stood up and walked to the door. I tried opening it, and it was locked. This wasn't my home. How was I supposed to find something to eat? If I were back in Pearl City, I would have found something to eat, but here I am locked up in a strange home.

Or is it because I didn't sign the contract? I thought, recalling, there was a part talking about my feeding.

I knocked on the door, hoping someone would hear me, but I was met with silence.

"Hey, I am hungry. I have not eaten since last night. I don't think you locked me up here to starve me to death," I yelled.

Oh boy, what if they deliberately locked me up in here to starve me to death? I thought as I slowed down on banging on the door. Is this a punishment? I thought. For what offence? I thought.

"Hey, what did I do wrong?" I yelled, banging on the door again. "If you are going to kill me through starvation, at least tell me what my crime is?" I yelled, and the door suddenly opened, hitting me in the process.

Miriam entered and closed the door. I took a step back, staring at her.

"Ms Brown, why are you disturbing everyone on the floor?" she questioned, and I just stared at her in silence. "The master's room is just opposite yours, and you are making so much noise, why?" she asked with a frown.

I feel her hostility. She doesn't know me, but she already hates me.

"I have not eaten. I have been locked up in here. I have to go find something to eat," I replied.

"It's only 11 in the morning," I heard Miriam say. "Must you disturb everyone because you can't go without your stomach?" she scolded.

Did she just call me a foodie? I thought, and my mind quickly went to the time she had communicated. It's an hour to midday, no wonder I am feeling this hungry. I am not rich, but if I were in Pearl City, I would have eaten two or three hours ago.

"Here, this should keep you till lunch time," Miriam said and pulled a piece of bread cut in pie shape from her apron pocket and offered it to me.

It was in a sealed plastic bag. I stared at the piece of bread in the plastic bag and shifted my gaze back to her face.

"What! You are no longer hungry?" Miriam asked.

"I didn't come here out of my own free will," I said. "I don't want to be here. If you leave this door open, I will be gone by noon," I added, and Miriam just stared at me.

She opened her mouth to speak, but quickly shut it when the door opened and Michael walked in.

"What is going on here?" Michael asked, alternating his gaze between me and Miriam.

I was about to speak when Miriam quickly spoke.

"I just came to find out what she wants for lunch," Miriam said, sounding very polite, unlike the bossy, hostile person she showed me a few minutes ago.

"I have not had breakfast, and you are asking about lunch," I said, staring at Miriam and drawing Michael's gaze to myself. "Interesting," I added, and Michael shifted his gaze back to Miriam.

"Apologies. In the morning, there were so many activities ongoing. The breakfast got cold," Miriam explained, and I just stared at her.

"Get her something to eat," Michael commanded.

"Yes, please," Miriam said and exited the room.

"Alpha Damien sent me to you," Michael said as soon as Miriam exited the room. "He asked me to give you this. Go through it, if you have any questions, objections, or concerns, let me know," he added and handed a file to me.

"Is this another ridiculous contract with a more mild terms?" I asked with a frown, as I accepted the file from his hand, still standing in the middle of the room with Michael standing just a distance in front of me, with his back facing the closed door.

"The head of the servants was bullying you a few minutes ago," I heard Michael say. "You only ask her to leave the door open so you can leave before noon," he went on. "But you are bold to speak to me anyhow. I am Alpha Damien's beta, yet you disrespect me," he added.

I stared at him until he was done talking and shifted my gaze back to the file in my hand. I have been standing for a while. I was beginning to feel drowsy. I don't know if it was the pregnancy or the unexpected events I went through from yesterday to this morning. I walked to the couch and sat down before opening the file. It was a contract, but not a surrogacy contract. My eyes widened as I stared at the title on top of the contract.

"Alpha Damien wants me to be his PA?" I asked, shifting my gaze to Michael and went back to read the name of the company on the contract.

It was the Dakota Jewellery company. Jeremy will be there. I thought as I read the name.

"Yes, the responsibilities assigned to you are very basic. You don't need any academic qualification to handle such responsibilities," Michael said.

Alpha Damien isn't that bad after all. I thought as I read about the company on the first page.

"This is the key to your room. Keep it safe. Your clothes will be delivered in half an hour," Michael said. "I will leave you to take your time as you go through the documents. Here is my number, if your food does not come in the next 10 minutes, let me know," he added and exited the room after placing a card with my room number boldly written on it and another card with a phone number on the table in front of the couch. I stared briefly at the items on the table, and my eyes spotted the phone on the wall inside my room. I returned my gaze to the contract.

I opened the next page of the contract in my hand, and I began to frown.

He employed me to be his servant, yet he gave me the title PA. I thought as I read the five responsibilities printed on the next page of the paper.

Does he want me to be his servant or PA? I thought

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 57: It's Too Late - Part 2

Jeremy's POV"Would you take me back, knowing I am carrying Alpha Damien's child?" Ariana asked me, and I stared at her, wondering what she took me for. This girl must think I am stupid. She wants me to take her back. I thought. But come to think of it, why would she say Alpha Damien is responsible? I thought, but it quickly hit me. There was no way I could confirm her story. Wow! Ariana, you are smart with your lies. I thought, but I kept a straight face. I will play along till I get her in my bed."You are my woman, and I still love you," I said. "My only problem is, it's Alpha Damien we are talking about. How do I hide you from him?" I asked, trying to see if she had already planned a way to escape, whoever the father of the child she is carrying is. She went silent. I patiently waited, believing she was thinking of something."Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could get back together. But he always finds me. It doesn't matter where I am. He finds me. I don't

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 56: It's Too Late - Part 1

Jeremy's POVI was still mad at Ariana for cheating on me, but seeing her again, I wish I had never married Melody. It's only been four days since I started working in the company, and I have had the opportunity to see Ariana twice. She looked more beautiful than before. Even though I wished I had never married Melody, there was nothing I could do about it. She was already six weeks pregnant, and I am responsible. That mistake I made six weeks ago, allowing my desire to take the better of me.This was all Ariana's fault. If she had allowed me to touch her, instead of playing Virgin Mary, waiting to be married before, I wouldn't have yielded to Melody's seduction. That day, I was horny. I went to Ariana, and she was not ready. I left the apartment to cool off at a nearby club, and that was when I ran into Melody. I had always known, Melody's fight with Ariana was just because she liked me, but I was with Ariana. Melody did attempt to drug me, but I saw it, so I didn't take that drink

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 55: Do You Have a Death Wish?

Ariana's POV"Damien, you can't take away a girl's virginity and expect another man to accept her like that. If you didn't want to marry her, you should have kept your pants zipped up," I heard Alpha Leo say, and I stared at Victoria, sitting directly opposite us, looking all pitiful."Damien, at first, I wanted to be with you because I like you, but I realised you didn't, so I decided to keep my distance, waiting to see if you like me for me or because of the mate bond. That was why I was mostly not around," I heard Victoria say. "I am sorry for everything I did, I only did them because I loved you. That night, I came into your room after reflecting on what you told me. I wanted to inform you that I was going back home, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I may be in the entertainment industry, but I kept myself away from men. Now, you have taken that away from me," she ended her statement in tears. My heart went out to her. I shifted my gaze to Damien, only to find him rolling h

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 54: You Must Take Responsibility

Ariana's POVDamien's proposal left me shocked. Everything was happening so fast, I really couldn't understand. Yes, I liked him when I first saw him, but now, it's like he suddenly cares about me, not because of the pregnancy. And I don't know what kind of cologne he is using now, but I believe it has an aphrodisiac effect. I have never felt this before, to the extent that I can't even control myself. What does he want from me? I thought as we exited the room. What is all this about? I thought. He wouldn't let go of my hand, and it was like he didn't care who saw us walking hand in hand like lovers. With my thoughts trying to figure out what was happening to me, my desires were kept at bay, and I felt normal. We were soon outside, and I wanted to go to the SUV, but he pulled me towards his car, opened the door for me, and I got inside, still wondering what was happening. Inside the car, sitting so close to him, the feeling started again. His scent was so comforting, yet it aroused

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 53: I would Gladly Step Down

Damien's POVI lay on the bed with Ariana sleeping in my arms. I have never felt this way about a woman before. I felt complete with her. She was truly my mate. I stared at the cane injuries on her back and remembered something my mom told me when I was 13 years old. She told me there are healers in her family line. It comes as a blessing, and one lucky child becomes a healer. It sounded so fascinating. An ability to heal others. It was an ability I yearned for. Not because I wanted to be special, but because of my human best friend, Jayson. We met in school. He was always sick. He spends half a day in school and the rest of the day in the hospital. He was unable to participate in any school activities because he would end up having episodes and end up in the hospital. I wanted to be a healer so that I could heal him. I felt so sad when I saw him sitting all alone during fun games. Sometimes, I stop playing and just sit by him, so he won't feel left out. My mom had told me I was a sp

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 52: Unexpected Proposal

Ariana's POVI opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the ceiling. I shifted my gaze to the side and realised I was alone in bed. I dragged myself into a sitting position, rubbing my eyes. While rubbing my eyes, I recalled the events of the previous night. My attempted escape, the huge beast that caught me mid-air, Damien's confession, the passionate kisses, and finally sleeping in Damien's arms. My eyes scanned the entire room for anything that would prove Damien was here or that he was still around, but I found nothing. My eyes fell on a covered tray sitting on the table. Surprisingly, I felt better and stronger. I looked down at myself, and I was still in the patient gown with my back exposed. I reached for my back and I didn't feel any pain, like before. To get a confirmation of how my back looked now, I got out of bed and walked to the standing mirror in the room. I looked at my back, and the wounds had healed. All that was left were scars. I stared at my back in total sh
