Chapter 56: It's Too Late - Part 1

Jeremy's POV

I was still mad at Ariana for cheating on me, but seeing her again, I wish I had never married Melody. It's only been four days since I started working in the company, and I have had the opportunity to see Ariana twice. She looked more beautiful than before.  Even though I wished I had never married Melody, there was nothing I could do about it. She was already six weeks pregnant, and I am responsible. That mistake I made six weeks ago, allowing my desire to take the better of me.

This was all Ariana's fault. If she had allowed me to touch her, instead of playing Virgin Mary, waiting to be married before, I wouldn't have yielded to Melody's seduction.  That day, I was horny. I went to Ariana, and she was not ready. I left the apartment to cool off at a nearby club, and that was when I ran into Melody. I had always known, Melody's fight with Ariana was just because she liked me, but I was with Ariana. Melody did attempt to drug me, but I saw it, so I didn't take that drink. However, I did pretend to be under the influence of a drug and slept with her. I kept the evidence of her putting a drug in my drink to use as a defence should anything come up. I never for once thought I would end up marrying Melody.

Marrying Melody was pure business. With her, I know I can easily get to the top, using her family connection.  

Well, seeing Ariana again, I knew I still desired to have a taste of her body. My desire was now stronger, seeing her looking more beautiful than before. If I play my cards very well, I can have her in my bed.

With this thought, I started thinking of a way to make this happen. The last time I saw her, she wanted to talk to me. I can start by giving her a listening ear. If I wasn't wrong, she did create the impression, she wanted us to get back together. I can use that to my advantage.  After all, she had already lost her virginity; what more is she protecting? 

I was on break from my training, so I went to the cafeteria to eat. Melody couldn't prepare breakfast for me. So I didn't eat before coming to work. I exited the cafeteria and was heading back to the 4th floor when my gaze fell on Ariana exiting the private elevator meant for Alpha Damien only. I walked up to her and grabbed her by the arms.

"Do you have a death wish?" I asked, and she met my gaze. 

At first, she tried to free herself from my grip, but I guess seeing it was me, she relaxed. I pulled her towards the direction of the cafeteria. 

"Where are you taking me?" Ariana asked when I pulled her towards a space next to the cafeteria.

"Where are we going?" she repeated when I didn't answer her, and she began to resist.

"We need to talk, and I am taking you to a place where we can do that," I replied, and she relaxed. 

I knew there were cameras everywhere, so I kept my eyes up for them. I didn't want anyone to see me harassing Ariana. I know the company had zero tolerance for harassment. I opened the door and pulled Ariana inside. The room was very dark. I turned on the light and watched Ariana scan the place.

"What is this place?" She asked.

"It's the company storage room. They keep things they want to discard in this room. At the end of the week, a truck comes around, picks them up and takes them to wherever that may be," I replied. "At least that is what they told me, during my training," I added.

"Why did you bring me here?" Ariana asked, focusing her gaze on me, and her voice sounded unwelcoming.

I stood there facing her with my back to the closed door. She carried a frown on her face, but I wasn't discouraged by that. I know what I wanted, and I would get it one way or the other. I will make her come to me. 

"I brought you here so we could finish our conversation from the last time," I said to her. "You wanted to tell me something. I am all ears," I went on. "I want to hear you out," I added, acting all concerned. 

I have known her practically all my life. So, I do know how to get to her. My little act of concern did get to her. She relaxed, lowered her head and sighed. I was glad I still had that effect on her. I can use that to my advantage. There is no way I will forgive her for sleeping with another man, I just want to have my fair share of having her body. If I play my cards will, she will land on my lap like a dancer. 

"Yes, I wanted to explain what happened on our wedding day to you," Ariana began.

"Go ahead," I said, and closed the gap between us, but left enough space so as not to make her uncomfortable. 

"Jeremy, I never cheated on you. I got pregnant by accident," she said, and I just listened.

Yeah right. How does one get pregnant by accident? You slip and fall on a man's rod? I thought already criticising her explanation.

"I went for a medical examination, but they mistook me for the surrogate and planted a man's seed inside me. The father of the child came looking for me when he found out. That is how I ended up here in this city," she narrated, looking all serious.

"So, who is the father?" I asked out of curiosity.

I wanted to know which guy was able to dodge the prerequisite for sex being marriage, and even got her pregnant. Of course, I didn't buy her mistaken for a surrogate explanation. 

"Please promise me you will not tell anyone, if I tell you," she begged, reaching for my hand, and I frowned, staring at her. 

"Okay," I replied reluctantly. "I promise," I said, wondering who the father was.

"Alpha Damien is the father," Ariana said, and I moved back, staring at her with a frown.

Wow! What a well-cooked lie. I thought, but something hit me and I decided to ask, and be sure.

"Ariana, are you a werewolf?" I asked, knowing very well, a human can never get pregnant by a werewolf.

"No, I am not," she replied. "I am human, just like you," she added.

"So, how did you get pregnant for Alpha Damien?" I asked, already believing she was lying. 

"I don't know. It just happened," she replied, looking all frustrated. "Jeremy, I am telling you this, just so you know, I never cheated on you," she added, and the frown vanished from my face.

Wow, Melody was right about this girl. How come I never saw this part of her? She is so good at lying. She wants me to believe, Alpha Damien, who hates humans, slept with her and got her pregnant. She must think I am the joke of the century. Well, if that is the story she wants to tell, I will go with it. I just want to sleep with her, and I would be out of her life. If I wanted her before, hearing her just now. I am glad I didn't marry her. 

"Fine, I believe you," I said. "So, you want us to get back together?" I asked, trying to find the motive behind her reaching out and explaining things to me.

"Would you take me back, knowing I am carrying Alpha Damien's child?" she asked me.
