Ariana's POV

Pearl City, Ariana's Home, 8 p.m.

I had locked up and was in bed. I was not sure when I fell asleep. I had been in bed, soaking away in tears. I heard a loud banging on my door. It was followed by a male voice.

"Ariana, I know you are in there," I heard the familiar voice say, and another round of banging hit my door.

"I am coming," I shouted from my bedroom as I grabbed a morning coat, my eyebrow creasing into a frown.

I exited my bedroom into my small living room. I turned on the light and unlocked the door. Standing behind the door was my landlord and a man.

"I believe you read the notice on your door and all the other notices," the landlord said to me.

"I did. I had a little problem. I will pay up. I need some time," I pleaded, changing the expression on my face.

"I have given you all the time. I want you out of this apartment by morning. I am not running a charity business," the landlord said to me angrily.

"Please, give me till the end of this week. I will get the money," I begged, knowing I had nowhere to go if I should leave now.

"No.  I am done giving you time," the landlord said to me angrily. "I was going to throw you out tonight," he said. "This is the new tenant of the apartment. He had already paid for it. I brought him so you will know I am serious about my eviction. This afternoon, when you were away, I brought him to have a look at the apartment," he added, pointing to the man standing by his side.

"I am just showing you mercy because I heard about your rough day," he said. "You have up to tomorrow morning to leave," he repeated and turned to walk away with the man he had come with.

I lowered my head. In addition to my troubles, I have to look for a place to stay in less than 12 hours. I didn't know what to do or whom to call. Melody was not answering my call, and Jeremy hates me.

Maybe I should send them both a message that I need help. I thought as I raised my head to stare at the back of my landlord as he walked away. I saw someone approaching, and I frowned. The person was walking towards my apartment.

What is it again this time? I thought staying at the man was approaching my apartment from a distance.

"Alpha Roland," I heard the landlord say and quickly bowed to him.

I shut my door quickly and pressed my back against the closed door, wondering what the leader of the city was doing at my front door at this hour.

"This is the home of Ariana Brown," I heard Alpha Roland say, ignoring the landlord's greetings.

"Thank you," I heard the voice of a man say.

"Ariana Brown, come out now," I heard Alpha Roland's commanding voice.

I opened the door and stepped out, trembling. I bowed, standing in front of my door. I wondered what they wanted with me at this time of the night.

"Ariana Brown, by order of Alpha Damien of the Westhills pack, the president of this country, you are to come with me, this minute, to the Royal City," the man standing next to Alpha Roland said to me, and my heart skipped multiple beats.

I raised my head to look at them, surprised. Why will Alpha Damien summon me? I thought.

I began to tremble like a leaf. The name Alpha Damien strikes fear, but to humans, it may be a journey of no return if he summons you. We know he hated humans.

I slowly stood up straight. My fears were so evident on my face. I hugged my hands to stop them from shaking in the presence of these strangers in my compound. I saw the back of the landlord and the man he had come with walking hurriedly away from the apartment. I was now alone with Alpha Roland and the other gentleman whom I recognised as Alpha Damien's right-hand man. He is the one we see on TV all the time delivering one message or another from Alpha Damien. I know he is called Michael.

"Are you cold?" I heard Michael ask as he stared at me expressionless, but his voice was unwelcoming.

"No," I replied, almost stammering. I swallowed hard and asked my next question. "Please, what is my offence?" I asked, my voice trembling.

Everyone has heard about Alpha Damien, even though no one has seen his face before, because he never makes a public appearance without wearing a mask. He was ruthless, and the only reason he would summon you was when you had offended him. Of which the punishment could be death. Well, at least I know humans who were summoned by him never returned.

"You will know once you have reached the city," Michael replied coldly, and my heart skipped multiple beats in my chest.

I was so scared, I started feeling drowsy. I quickly held the door frame for support to prevent myself from falling.

"Let's go," I heard Michael say before I could recover from what was happening to me due to fear.

I tried to go back inside after hearing what Michael said, but I was quickly grabbed by two men like I was a criminal. I was not sure when they had come to the scene.

"I didn't do anything," I cried as I tried to free myself from their grip unsuccessfully. "If it's about my rent. I promise to pay everything by sunrise," I said, not sure of what my offence was, so I was just saying anything that would make someone report me. "Please, Alpha Roland, help me," I appealed to Alpha Roland, but he ignored me.

I was dragged to a huge black jeep. The back door was opened, and one of the men went to the back of the car and returned with a rope. My hands were quickly tied, and I was thrown into the back seat of the car. My legs were not tied up, so I was able to balance myself and prevent myself from falling with the way they pushed me into the car. Michael got into the back seat.

"Please, please, let me go. Don't take me to Alpha Damien. I will leave this city," I begged him, and he opened a small compartment between the two front seats and next he taped my mouth shut.

I sat there with my hands tied and tears streaming down my face. I knew I was being taken to the slaughterhouse. I looked out the tainted window, knowing this was going to be my last view of Pearl City and also the world.

Ariana's POV"Damien, you can't take away a girl's virginity and expect another man to accept her like that. If you didn't want to marry her, you should have kept your pants zipped up," I heard Alpha Leo say, and I stared at Victoria, sitting directly opposite us, looking all pitiful."Damien, at first, I wanted to be with you because I like you, but I realised you didn't, so I decided to keep my distance, waiting to see if you like me for me or because of the mate bond. That was why I was mostly not around," I heard Victoria say. "I am sorry for everything I did, I only did them because I loved you. That night, I came into your room after reflecting on what you told me. I wanted to inform you that I was going back home, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I may be in the entertainment industry, but I kept myself away from men. Now, you have taken that away from me," she ended her statement in tears. My heart went out to her. I shifted my gaze to Damien, only to find him rolling h

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 54: You Must Take Responsibility

Ariana's POVDamien's proposal left me shocked. Everything was happening so fast, I really couldn't understand. Yes, I liked him when I first saw him, but now, it's like he suddenly cares about me, not because of the pregnancy. And I don't know what kind of cologne he is using now, but I believe it has an aphrodisiac effect. I have never felt this before, to the extent that I can't even control myself. What does he want from me? I thought as we exited the room. What is all this about? I thought. He wouldn't let go of my hand, and it was like he didn't care who saw us walking hand in hand like lovers. With my thoughts trying to figure out what was happening to me, my desires were kept at bay, and I felt normal. We were soon outside, and I wanted to go to the SUV, but he pulled me towards his car, opened the door for me, and I got inside, still wondering what was happening. Inside the car, sitting so close to him, the feeling started again. His scent was so comforting, yet it aroused

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 53: I would Gladly Step Down

Damien's POVI lay on the bed with Ariana sleeping in my arms. I have never felt this way about a woman before. I felt complete with her. She was truly my mate. I stared at the cane injuries on her back and remembered something my mom told me when I was 13 years old. She told me there are healers in her family line. It comes as a blessing, and one lucky child becomes a healer. It sounded so fascinating. An ability to heal others. It was an ability I yearned for. Not because I wanted to be special, but because of my human best friend, Jayson. We met in school. He was always sick. He spends half a day in school and the rest of the day in the hospital. He was unable to participate in any school activities because he would end up having episodes and end up in the hospital. I wanted to be a healer so that I could heal him. I felt so sad when I saw him sitting all alone during fun games. Sometimes, I stop playing and just sit by him, so he won't feel left out. My mom had told me I was a sp

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 52: Unexpected Proposal

Ariana's POVI opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the ceiling. I shifted my gaze to the side and realised I was alone in bed. I dragged myself into a sitting position, rubbing my eyes. While rubbing my eyes, I recalled the events of the previous night. My attempted escape, the huge beast that caught me mid-air, Damien's confession, the passionate kisses, and finally sleeping in Damien's arms. My eyes scanned the entire room for anything that would prove Damien was here or that he was still around, but I found nothing. My eyes fell on a covered tray sitting on the table. Surprisingly, I felt better and stronger. I looked down at myself, and I was still in the patient gown with my back exposed. I reached for my back and I didn't feel any pain, like before. To get a confirmation of how my back looked now, I got out of bed and walked to the standing mirror in the room. I looked at my back, and the wounds had healed. All that was left were scars. I stared at my back in total sh

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 51: Dream or Reality?

Ariana's POVI felt the wind blowing around me as I fell fast towards the ground. I thought of Jeremy; if not for this pregnancy, we would be married, and I could be expecting his child. Damien also came to mind, he is so different from the man he was rumoured to be. But, I guess, it was because I was carrying his child. For some reason, I hoped he would save me from dying again, like he did at the mining site. I closed my eyes and waited for my body to crash into the solid ground, but something caught me. A huge beast, and next, darkness engulfed me, resulting from fear. I opened my eyes again, and I was in the room where I attempted my escape. I was lying on my side on the bed, and staring at me was Damien. I stared back at him. I was helplessly drawn to him, but I remained still on the bed."You attempted to run away by jumping out of the window. Had I not arrived here on time, you would have died," Damien said to me. "Don't ever try this again," he added, and I nodded. His voice

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 50: Confession

Damien's POV"Damien, Dad is here, and he came with Victoria," Eve reported. I frowned. "Tell him, I have an emergency at the hospital. I will come over to his place in the morning," I said, having an idea why he wants to see me, and I was not ready to talk."Damien, I don't care about whatever emergency you have at that nonsense hospital. I want to see you right this minute," my father yelled into the phone."Dad, the hospital is my business. I can't let it go down because of a petty squabble," I said calmly over the phone. "Petty squabble? Damien, I am warning you," I heard my father say, his voice sounding like he had his teeth clenched.I turned and stared at Ariana, lying on her side on the bed. I felt she would make another attempt to leave if I left her alone. I can understand that she is scared for her life. A human caught up in the fight among wolves, I can understand. I need to protect her, now that I know she is my mate. And the beneficiary of my sister's heart."Dad, I b
