17th CenturyEuropeThe gigantic cliff wavered above the mountain forest like a horrible zit, throwing its broad-shouldered shadow over the hedges. Its flanks were divided by isolated footpaths, slithering all the way to the snow-shrouded ridges. Dark caverns bore deep into the cliff’s heart, passageways disguised by long-lost magic. Death and chaos prowled in the silhouettes of Route and Cave, waiting for those who didn’t know the acceptable phrases or for those who didn’t recite quickly enough.Andrew landed by the edge; he stopped for a moment to let his passenger catch her breath. Diana watched the golden threads of morning light transform her earlier ordeals into an ambient positiveness. In the wash of the new light, her face took on the appearance of an obsolete portrait, one of the memories so wonderful in her eyes. She watched as it brought her naked skin into focus, not yet vitalized with the warmth of who she was—a lost fucking naked predator who stood wide arm like some crazy suicidal maniac—I might as well kill Andrew for this shit. “Is that Tommy?”Andrew folded back the cuffs of his shirt for something to do with his hands. "I told you, Diana. You will be surprised, after all, it's not every day—""Will you just answer my questions clearly, Andrew?” A hard light came into her eyes, and her expression set like fast-acting glue."Well, I'm not sure just yet.”She groaned and closed her eyes. “Let me think. My brain is still brewing new information. My goodness. Is this really him?" Diana wiped the blood from the face of the strange man, and that was weirdly tied upside down. "This is Tommy? How is this even possible? Why is my best friend here in the fucking 17th century a werewolf? Above all, tied up and almost dead?" Andrew picked up the lead in perfect rhythm, tucking his head. By then, his smell and the sight of him were etched in Diana's mind. She found herself always aware of him, her senses automatically kept track of him, as if she were afraid he would disappear from her view. In such proximity, she could not help but notice his every move, breath, and heartbeat. This man was breathtakingly good to her senses. Sexy and, above all, so enticingly hot, yet he kept on turning his head towards her, watching her all the time, assessing. Well, not obviously likeable, but yeah, he was looking at her like she was prey, like she was a rat, and like he was the angry lion.By then, she had to admit a certain trust, awareness, and fondness for him. Even now, in the proximate safety of strange time and lands and the road less travelled, she doesn't trust herself quite—yet not to daydream about him. She thought he looked rather edible, or was it just her tummy talking? Was she desperate to taste him? Yes.

In the little, shabby kitchen, a younger version of butler Raymond cracked open the homemade clay oven to survey his honey-sweet bread rolls. Sniffing, he let the yeasty-rich air fill his lungs as he heard Eve. He smiled to himself and thought that, at last, their sire was back. “Oh, Raymond, dear, lord Andrew is back, isn't that good news?” Eve inquired with a bright smile on her face as she entered the dirty kitchen. “I heard you the first time, Eve. Stop bothering me. This is almost done,” Raymond pointed at the clay oven with the same enthusiasm as the old woman. "Why do you always have to check those lovely rolls fifteen times a minute? There is no need for that," asked Eve, glancing at the flavorful rolls as Raymond nestled a large bowl in the crook of his arm and slung the contents around with a wooden spoon. Eve glimpsed the flames of her paraffin lamps, relaxing and bestowing her positive vitality, while the stray end of her scarf flew over her shoulder, straining to escape

The four walls of the cottage that were so sultry in the wintertime seemed so delicate against the unsettled invasion of Tommy's scream and the wild howl of his agony as Eve began her healing process. Diana had never seen dried leaves lit on fire that were hung all over the corners of the dwellings and did not disappear so fast. In an average fire, they would be most of the way to being burned before the fire dominated the entire cottage. This time, though, the orange flames were as full and flared endlessly from Eve's outreach hands, her fires warming the inside but never burning a single leaf as she was kneeling beside the screaming werewolf, concentrating like her life depended on it. Her hands have been burning, but it was a different blaze. It was warm but didn't hurt any of them.“It won't hurt him?” Diana asked the old woman.“No, don't worry. This will heal him.”Diana reckoned that Eve was an expert, as she never abandoned Tommy, even when he was a feral howling relentlessly.

Tomas woke up and howled in genuine pain as he saw both hands with fiery veins encircling his arm. His body was burning from the inside out; he was frightened, and yet for hours, he lay there alone, alone with his feral thoughts, urging him to summon his wolf and destroy everything within reach.Hours passed.The morning sun peaked in the tiny window, adding light to his hell, and the burns were unbearable and arduous, as all night he had been there and no one had heard his screams of help. He then felt a sense of griefwashd over him at the moment of thought about him dying. He was going to die unattended. Everyminute,e his heart beat slower, and every second, his slow death was near. The distress and burning haven't ceased, but after being in agony for hours upon hours, his mind was no longer his own.
