Sage's POV

I masked my internal scoff with a dismissive wave of my hand. "Oh, no, it's nothing," I said, forcing a casual tone. "I just thought I saw someone who looked like her. You know how it is in New York, so many people." Pauline, thankfully, bought the flimsy excuse, her attention already drifting back to lighter topics.

We spent the rest of the day in a comfortable cocoon of shared stories and laughter, rediscovering the easy camaraderie we’d always had. It felt good to be home, to be with my best friend even with the unspoken weight of my secrets lingering beneath the surface. For a few precious hours, I allowed myself to simply exist in the warmth of our renewed connection, pushing away the anxieties that clawed at the edges of my peace.

The next morning, a dull ache still lingered in my muscles from the night with Andrew with a constant reminder of the intensity we'd shared. But a different kind of ache, one of guilt and concern, propelled me out of bed. I had promised Kay

Sage's POV I pushed myself up from the floor, my legs still shaky, but the immediate crisis had passed. The rush of relief was quickly replaced by a fresh wave of urgency. I had to get out of here. Now.Andrew knelt beside me, his hand gently touching my arm. "Sage, are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.I nodded, my breath still coming in short, ragged gasps. "I'm fine. Just... that was close." I looked at him, my gaze meeting his and the weight of everything that had transpired between us, both last night and over the past weeks, pressed down on me. "Andrew, I need to go. But... I promise, I'll tell you everything. About New York, about why I was so angry and about everything. Just... not here. Not now."He nodded slowly, understanding dawning in his eyes. "Okay, go. But call me as soon as you're home. Promise?""I promise," I said, already scrambling to gather my clothes. I dressed quickly, my movements still clumsy from exhaustion and adrenaline. With a quick, pa

Sage's POV The first thing I registered was the gentle warmth of sunlight filtering through the curtains, a stark contrast to the burning heat that had consumed us hours before. My eyes fluttered open, heavy with sleep, and I became acutely aware of the weight of an arm draped possessively around my waist. Andrew.A soft sigh escaped my lips as the memories of the night before flooded my mind, a chaotic rush of passion, desperation, and an almost overwhelming sense of relief. We had fallen asleep tangled together, limbs intertwined, a testament to the raw intensity of our reunion. Every inch of my body ached, a sweet, satisfying soreness that spoke of hours of uninhibited desire.I tried to shift, to stretch, but a groan escaped my lips as a sharp protest echoed through my muscles. My legs felt like jelly, my back a symphony of minor complaints. I was utterly, gloriously spent.Andrew stirred beside me, his arm tightening instinctively. A low murmur rumbled in his chest, a sound of c

Sage's POV I moaned in his mouth, feeling as his lips consumed mine in a dominant way. I found myself drowning in the intensity of his lips and lost in the moment. I could barely breathe, move or pull away."Andrew," I said, pressing my hand against his chest to pull away but he pressed his body even closer, his lips against my neck, tracing mine skin and leaving fire in its wake. "Stop, what if she hears us? Remember Pauline? What if she tells her after finding out that we are friends?" I tried to reason with him but he wasn't paying attention, he was more focused on leaving hickey on my skin.My heart skipped a beat when he nibbled on my skin, "Andrew--" I whispered harshly but cut off when he lifted his head slowly to look at me."If she hears us then you don't have to worry. She's my sister and twins don't snitch. Also, she knows you're Pauline's friend, I told her about it when she kept asking questions concerning my love life," he said with a shrug, his eyes filled with desires

Sage's POV My eyes burned but I refused to let the tears fall. Not here. Not in front of them. I forced a weak, wavering smile, a pathetic attempt at composure. "Hello," I managed to croak out, my voice a barely audible whisper. The word tasted like ash in my mouth.Andrew, seemingly sensing the sudden shift in the atmosphere, stepped forward, his expression a mixture of confusion and concern. "Sage, are you alright?" he asked, his voice gentle, laced with a concern that only twisted the knife deeper. "You look... pale."The woman, sensing the tension, looked from Andrew to me, a faint crease appearing between her perfectly sculpted brows. "Is everything alright, Andrew, darling?" she asked, her voice still smooth but now with a hint of polite inquiry.Andrew quickly turned to her, a reassuring smile on his face. "Everything's fine, dear. Just a friend who's a little under the weather." He turned back to me, his gaze softening but I could see the unspoken message in his eyes: don't m

  • The Coach's Forbidden Play   Chapter 82

Sage's POV “Who told you that?” I finally managed to croak out, the words barely a whisper, my voice thick with disbelief. My eyes darted around as if the person who had revealed my deepest shame might suddenly materialize from the shadows. The question was desperate like a feeble attempt to understand how Michael, of all people, had stumbled upon such a devastating truth. He scoffed, a short, sharp sound devoid of any humor. “Do you know Anastasia?”The name hit me like a blow. Anastasia of course. It all clicked into place with a sickening thud. The venom in her voice, her ominous warnings, her cryptic remarks about knowing my secrets. It was her. She had done this. My blood ran cold, and a shiver traced its way down my spine despite the warm, humid air. How could she be so cruel?“How… how do you know her?” I stammered, the shock momentarily eclipsing the shame. My mind raced, trying to connect the dots, trying to fathom how.His gaze hardened, a flicker of something akin to disg
