Chapter 8. Hunt and Prey

I woke up after a few hours of sleep in the back seat of the car, and feeling really thankful that the pain on my neck no longer exist. But it was rather replaced with the rumbling of my stomach. I opened my eyes and looked around, the coldness of the atmosphere have made it through the insides of my clothes.

The man beside me, Alpha Zero is just sitting back and i am not sure if he is sleeping or just relaxing. But I'm hoping he is not awake to hear the embarrassing noise that my stomach has created.

The memory of his tongue and lips grazing on my neck is vividly replaying inside my mind. Even though I know that he did it only prevent the infection of the cuts that i received from the claws of that filthy rogue. But it did something more to me, making me feel my blood rising inside my viens and my heart hammering inside my chest. The sensation on the pit of my stomach was extraordinary, something that  i have never felt before. And it makes me wonder if he felt it too.

I looked at his Beta who's concentration is on the road. Looking from the window of his car I quickly understand  that we are somewhere near the North. The land of Alpha Zero. Now I have no choice but to follow my brother's plan. I suddenly realized the dangers of being alone in the human's world, without the warriors and without my trusted servant Kiera.

I looked at the window and noticed the thick layer of snow beside the road which added to the coldness that I am feeling, and then my stomach rumbled again.

"Someone's hungry.."

Came his deep voice then suddenly he turned towards me, with his eyes showing a hint of amusement.

"Derek, stop the car on the side of the road."

I almost gasped at the sound of his deep manly voice instructing his Beta to stop the car. I never thought someone could affect me this much, I felt awkward and blushing. I thought he was sleeping.

"Yes Alpha."

His Beta turned the car to a halt beside the road where the trees in a short distance, are covered in snow and as well as the ground too.

"Well, Princess are you strong enough for a hunt?"

"What!? No..no I'm not hunting in this cold".

I shook my head while looking at his challenging dark eyes. But my stomach made that noise again and this time we heard it clearly. His mouth twisted in a mocking manner.

"You are starving and you need to eat, so I suggest we shift and hunt now."

He opened his side of the car and looked back at me. "Come down Princess, I will show you how it's done. Let this moment served as your first lesson in your training with me."

His dominant voice made me think back to the last time I shifted, which was a year ago. I have only done it twiced, once when I turned sixteen and the second when I was seventeen. My parents, the former King and Queen of the Royal pack have never push me to hunt and shift. They were more concerned on the wolf matters with my brother as the future Alpha King and the heir to the throne.

As for me, I could do what I want, long as I am safe and happy.

The memory of shifting is not easy for me, it takes a strong body and a mind in total restraint. Otherwise, it would hurt like hell.

"Come on down Princess! We don't have all day. The journey ahead is still an hour more".

He's tall figure is now outside the car. I noticed how his body is nicely sheated in a black bomber jacket and a skinny dark blue jeans. With his muscles that stretched the fabric into it's extent.

"Alright, I'm coming out now."

I opened the door on my side and shivered in cold as the freezing wind blows around me. It's so cold, that my teeth are almost gnashing with each other.

"Come on, shift so you won't feel the cold as we run".

He opened the zip of his jacket and casually throws it back into the seat of the car. Then he pulled up his dark shirt revealling a hard eight pack abs. My eyes widened and almost fell out from my sockets when I looked at his body, following his strong hands that moved down to the zip of his tight jeans. He's so big and beautiful, his large chest looks very strong and his cream liked skin is flawless. I wonder how he end up without a scar when I know he have dealt with countless battles.

But then he stopped and looked back at me on the other side of the car. Our eyes met. He caught me staring..His eyes sparkled, challenging me base on how his upper lip is twisted in the corner.

"Shift now, before you're ass gets frozen!".

I blinked twice before his words registered in my brain. I was totally distracted. I looked away and felt myself already shivering. But there's no way I am going to shift naked in front of him. I closed my eyes and concentrate on shifting with my clothes on. Feeling my heartbeat quickening with each second passed. My bones started to crack and my legs tore off the jeans I was wearing. My clothes completely destroyed when my wolf form came out.

The coldness of the air is suddenly gone now. I sniffed the air and wriggled my thick light brown furr. Then I looked back to see a huge white wolf behind me. My eyes took in the sight of his form, he is the most magnificent wolf I have ever seen. His size is double or triple than mine. His thick coat is as white as the snow but his eyes are red and they are looking intently on me.

After a few seconds he walk towards the forest, encouraging me to follow. And I followed obediently, mesmerized by how big and strong his wolf looked even from behind. No wonder the rogues called him a beast. His wolf form is bigger than what I've ever seen before.

"Follow me inside the forest Princess".

Our mind link worked, due to the alliance of both our pack. My wolf form followed him obediently.

He started running inside the forest so I ran too. As I was running behind him, I inhaled the fresh scent of pines and snow in the air. Something fresh and neat, a smell that I have never encountered before. It made me run faster to caught up his pace. My heart is suddenly melting with joy when he waited for me and I engulfed his fresh pine snowy scent. I wasn't able to hold back the whimper that escaped my throat.

"What's the matter princess? Are you that hungry now...hang on for a few minutes and don't make a noise. I could smell your food coming in".

He sniffed the air around for a possible prey, while I sniffed the air for his scent. I hold back the urged to rub my head against the softness of his stomach, or to run under his legs. "Shhh, it's here".

I, then caught the scent of a fresh meat. "It's a deer..."  I murmured softly and stopped near him.

"Yes it is, now get ready to chase".

We both stood our ground, motionless and waiting for our prey to come out in the open. Behind a huge bark of a tree, the white tailed deer came out. I snarled and get ready to tackle him but the deer heard me and quickly ran.

"Hurry Princess! Don't let your meal get away". He nudged my body to run and follow the deer inside the forest. So I quickly moved my furry legs to follow the direction in which the deer go.

The snow on the ground trampled underneath my feet as I run faster, enjoying the chase.

He let me took the lead and ran just behind me. The deer was almost at my grasp when he reached beside me.

"Pounce on him now Princess don't waste your time!"

Following his command I jump at the white tailed deer, plunging my sharp teeth behind his neck. My prey was not able to move from my strong hold. The blood that flowed freely from the deer's neck is very satisfying. It tried to wriggle to break free but there's no way it can escape my strong hold. I completely covered it's body with mine, sucking on it's blood and biting on it's meat. The deer was not able to move anymore, the warmth and aroma of its meat satisfied my hunger.

While Alpha Zero watched my every moved, I didn't care. Suddenly there's only one thing going in my mind and that is to feed. I didn't know that my wolf form could be as hungry as this. I chewed happily and eat till my whole snout and furr is covered with blood, I didn't stop until the body of the deer is almost finished.

"Well done Princess! But next time you have to be fast, don't hesitate to devour your prey. Enjoy the chased and love the food. Not all the wolf has freedom to choose it's prey, consider yourself privileged."

His words through the mind link have put me back to reality. Yes I felt full and satisfied but I suddenly looked at my paws, the blood of the deer was still there and so is the remains of it's body in the snowy ground.

Something just felt not right, the tiny conscience behind my brain cried out. I just took a life! The deer has a life too.

One thing that I've learned from staying in the human world, is to preserved a life through medicines and education. But looked at me now, I just prey on a deer. I run through the stream not far from where we were standing.

"Hey! Where are you going!?

Alpha Zero sounded annoyed from me not talking on his mind linked.

"Im just gonna wash up".

I dipped my face and wash my paws in the icy cold water of the stream. My furr suddenly got wet and almost all of my body.

"Hurry up Princess! We have to leave."

I looked up at him and wondered how come I am feeling this way, why did my heart bleeds when I feed on other animals? I am a wolf and it's my nature to hunt for food, just liked him. I should not forget that.
