He’d spent the night at her bedside, sleeping with his head near her hand so he could breathe in her scent.  He’d slept surprisingly well despite the creak in his neck the next morning, but she was still not awake and he had to get to work.

Elder Stuart had him work with setting the pack to rights, since he was mated to the new Luna of the pack, so the transition of him taking over would be smooth.  Well, it would be smooth around the pack; his mate was another matter altogether.

Grant had told him that he would keep watch over her; personally he just thought the loafer wanted an hour or so of extra sleep.  But he agreed, knowing that Grant would keep her safe.  He went first to the apartment where his mate had slept before; he could only sleep when he immersed himself in her scent.  So he’d moved his bag there and quickly took a shower and brushed his teeth.
