I married for money and not for love. I dumped the fact that there may be people who care about me, and there were those who faked it. While the wedding certificates were being signed by my contract husband, I lived in the delusional state that this was not a contract, it was real. Mr. Blackwood will definitely not frame that contract, and Valerie? She can't do more than give me a dead stare from her seat. Moving around to get to a better position to have my signatures on the marriage certificate made me feel nauseous. This time, it was bad enough that I wrinkled my entire face from the discomfort it gave me. “You are both officially husband and wife!” The judge announced, and I just had to give a quick smirk while I watched my contract husband smile to the ends of the corners of his mouth. Valerie could not hold up to everything that she witnessed. She probably thought it was all a joke, that there were no two ways about it, and the fact that it could be a prank. My whole life? A prank. I wish it was; that father wasn't borrowing money to secretly treat his illness, that on the same night I wanted to feel life a little bit, my father kicked the bucket, leaving me with the truth of the debts that was left all for me alone. Finding out that I was pregnant after I lost a big job? That can't be a prank, a word better than a nightmare should be given to it. Mr. Blackwood left my side to be with his friends who attended the court wedding. When I watched him laugh viciously with them, I got a reminder that the only reason why he wanted a contract marriage was to redeem his reputation. His reputation was gold to him, at least to help with his multi-millionaire businesses. And just then, I embraced the reality that I was standing alone. “Congratulations, beautiful!" “Congratulations!" “May you remain happy!" Those were the little words I could hear asides having to read the lips of others that stood to wish me well. "Thank you,” I muttered. Just like a wave, I saw the dead stare from afar as Valerie walked towards me with so much intention. “Am I going to get a thank you, after I say congratulations?" She asked coldly, with her arms wrapped around her bag. "If you meant it, you wouldn't have to ask me to give you permission. Don't you think so?” I replied as I looked at her with a good poise. "You messed up, bitch!” Valerie started, as she walked towards me obnoxiously. "Is that your congratulations?” I asked, furrowing my brows. "Bella, you are my friend. My best friend and out of all the men in the world, you decided to settle with him. You married him," she complained with pride, but it gradually grew into tears. I felt bad, because that's exactly how I felt when I asked her to help with the job, to think again before leaving the marriage. However, the whole scene is quite complicated because, either way, I was living evidence of the reason she called off her marriage. “You won't understand, and I don't have the grace to explain any of that to you at the moment.” I spilled a little, but not too much. Valerie was always emotionally dependent on her own truth and thoughts. It was a mission to always change her mind about things. She held my wrist, "Why did you marry him?” I turned back, and I had no words for her. "I saw my friend missing out on a big one, a big fish while she was trying to save herself.” “Wow. You have hurt me and I can't imagine what you expect of me anymore,” She uttered. I could only stare at her with no words. “I did nothing to you and if you feel like that's your reality, then you have to deal with it," I coldly uttered and walked out of her office. I didn't just walk out of her, but I walked out of all the negativity that grew inside my head concerning her. She didn't really pay attention to our friendship. I bet she didn't even care about me right from the beginning. I just had to move away from her for the sake of my unborn child. I didn't want to neglect the only chance I had to make sure my child had a father. "Bella!” I heard my name from a distance. When I turned to look back, it was my newly wedded husband. He was smiling, and I knew he was only giving everyone the impression that he was happy and that whatever was going on was what was meant to go on. I walked briskly, almost running at some point. When I got so close to him, I took another lightly and looked up to him, " Yes Sir!” I answered softly, but it was loud enough for him to hear, and to others it would look like I was reading my lips. “You know what's going on, right?" Alex didn't flinch. I was confused at first, and the tip of my fingers turned ice-cold, “What?" I muttered. “I hope you know what's going on," his lips moved significantly, showing that he meant every word he uttered. He repeated each word with proper precision. His voice was low, yet smooth and completely empty of concern. Before I could say another word to him as a response or a reaction, light flashes were everywhere. When I turned, I figured that it was one of Alex's Attorneys. He played it out so well as he stood where I could see him to photograph the marriage certificate. I couldn't lose my guard, I stood still even though I wasn't comfortable with what was going on. I mean, what did I expect? Outside the courthouse was a wide view of different people watching the latest couple walk out after getting married. A black SUV was waiting and we walked towards it while Alex cheerfully greeted those who cheered us as we left the courthouse. Before I could make another move, Alex opened the car door outrightly for me, ushering me into the vehicle. I was surprised by his gesture, but he immediately leaned in, “ We are married now, so everyone is always watching." It was like a quiet instruction. As the car pulled into the iron gates of the Blackwood mansion, I was dumbstruck by my own reflection on the tinted window of the SUV. It felt like it wasn't me; it didn't look like me. Just then, Alex’s phone lit up and I was still staring at the shadow from the tinted window. I was able to catch just the name on the screen before he quickly flipped it face down and it was no other person—Valerie.BellaAlex's world was full of men who smiled with their teeth and watched you with their eyes. After receiving the large sum of money, I realized that truly, I was nothing more than a pet in the eyes of Alex. I had to do everything he told me to. I acted only in the way he needed me to act. I was already living the life of a textbook a few days after marriage. After the planned dinner, I had nothing to do than follow him like a shadow when he was home. I wasn't really prepared for what I signed. I stood frozen in the room after the door was opened without a knock. “You seem to be extremely busy," he murmured as he walked into the room. The sounds of his footsteps sent shivers to my spine. “You are the busy one," I replied quickly, shoving my robe to cover my body. His brows furrowed and he moved backwards a bit. “Was there any part in the contract that mentioned you have to cover your body?” His voice was cold and distinct.“Uhm, you didn't think I could also be feeling cold?"
Bella The bedroom I was given was bigger than my entire apartment that the bank almost took away from me. Deep down, I told myself that it was a good thing. Even after I said that to myself more than three times, it was hard to believe in even one of them. I was shown my quarters and at that moment, it felt like I was a worker in the mansion. The quarters were quite distant from Alex's suite. Then I remembered that it was part of the contract. The room was beautiful and far from impeccable; It had silk drapes with a vase of fresh rises by the bedside. Its scent filled the entire room, and there were just more features as I looked through each corner. I opened my mouth slowly to behold the wonders of the room, a type I hadn't seen in a long time of being born into this harsh world. I was awed by everything I saw, but at the same time, I felt suffocated. It was purely vanity in all forms. Deep down, I knew I was crawling into my own doom. Because it already started feeling like a

BellaI had no control of myself because the room fell with me. From the moment of forcing a smile in front of everyone to pretending to be happy. After hearing the magistrate's voice brush the silence that choked on me after signing the contract papers, I was weak. The reading of the last contract was something I had barely heard. All I could think about at that point was the sound of my own heartbeat. My heartbeat was too loud and fast like it wanted to bail on me. “Bella?” Alex’s voice reverted from the distance he stood and that was the last thing I heard. My vision became blurry and everything I thought I could see started melting into one unreasonable sight. I tried so hard to make sure that I put myself together, but my brother failed me. I was scared because I struggled to get here even when it felt like trouble. I wasn't ready to leak the cat out of the bag—that I would have to tell my husband that I was pregnant with his child even before we got married. He was the im
Bella I went to court to finalize everything— to take the one and scribble my signatures on the contract papers, for a man who I randomly had a one-night stand with. Valerie’s Black dress was outstanding, but her hard look was the overall fitting of her look. “Oh, you! I didn't think you'd come to my wedding,” Alex chuckled and it ached me. At this point, I had already crossed the thin line that divided love and hate. I didn't think twice before doing anything that was going to favor me and my unborn child. I wasn't going to sit and let just any random thing occur again. “Was she invited?” I asked in a cold tone. “I can't chase her, can I?” Alexander muttered and said his vows. I stared at her from my sides, trying so well not to make it obvious. Everyone probably thought she was coming to halt the wedding, but her character displayed something totally different. Her weird smile lit her face even when it was obvious she had doubts. “Don't let my presence interrupt,” Valerie u
Bella“You are getting married?” Valerie was in the middle of the crowd smiling. She walked towards me and I felt my heart falling into my stomach. “Va-Va,” I tried to mutter a few words, but she interrupted. “ You don't have to be audible right now. I know how hard it could be for you to be doing what you're doing. “What are you doing, Valerie?” I could finally ask. My eyes were covered with tears and I could feel the heaviness of the ring Alex wore on my middle finger.“Congratulations, yeah? I think that's the right thing to say to you right now. You are amazing,” she added, smiling too, with tears in her eyes. When I looked around, I realized I couldn't fumble. I realized that at this point, it was my right to stand against whatever she was going to do. I mean, everyone was watching, and my heart couldn't stop racing. I needed something better to happen. “Move away from my wife!” Alexander's voice was loud and charismatic. He moved towards me and stood in front of me. He was
Bella I wanted what he wanted, because all it reminded me of was the first night we met. The first night he was with me. My heart fluttered as he ran his fingers on my skin as it sent bolting goosebumps all over my body. “Alex…” I paused, catching my breath, “You have to stop.” It didn't sound
Bella“You are now my wife, and I would appreciate it if you followed everything I have mentioned.” He replied again. I stood still, like I was frozen because I realized I had signed the contract without reading. I didn't even bother going through what I scribbled my signature on. “When would I g
Alexander I could be the devil, but I had some conscience in me. For years, no one ever cared if I knew my side of the story because money spoke for me. It bothered me, because I have always wanted to say the truth myself. My passion for women is one, and my loyalty to one is another task entire
Bella My heart flipped like a million coins that were tossed in the air as I walked toward the door. I was overthinking it, but I was ready to take the risk of going to the door. Could it be Valerie? I mean, I tried to make her consider going back to her cheating ex. It was something worth gettin
