Chapter Two: Fabian's POV

Fabian's POV

"Fabian, wake up you are going to be late for your class." I heard someone say while tapping me.

"No, let me sleep some more." I mumbled incoherently, covering my body with my bed sheets.

The person pulled the sheets down my body trying to wake me up."It's almost 9 AM."

I immediately jumped out of bed at 9 AM??? That's it I'm officially doomed. I'm late for Dr. Reyes class. I look to my right and see my roommate Daniel still holding my bed sheets.

"Why didn't you wake me up earlier Daniel?" I asked him.

"I did, but you wouldn't wake up. You kept saying you had no class today and wanted to sleep more." He replied, shrugging his shoulders.

I raked my hair with my hands. "You should have poured me water or something." I mumbled, making my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

"Maybe next time." I heard from behind me.

I quickly got ready and made my way to the class. I stood outside the class for a few minutes trying to gather my thoughts before going inside.

"Good morning Dr. Reyes," I greeted, lowering my head not wanting to meet his gaze.

"You are late." He said coldly. "I know, and I'm sorry it won't happen again."

"Take a seat and join the class. See me in my office after school." I nodded and made my way to an empty seat.

The class continued and finally it ended. I made my way out of the class to go to my next class when I bumped into someone.

"watch where ohh Fabian ." Rose, a female friend of mine said.

"Hey, Rose, I didn't know you were taking classes in this part of the school this semester." I said pulling her into a friendly hug.

You see, Daniel and Rose are the only friends. Though Daniel and I are both on scholarship, while Rose came from a wealthy background. I don't even know why she chose to be friends with us, but I'm grateful for that.

"No, I don't. I'm just here to pick up something for my professor from I think Dr. Reyes." She said,

"Really, this is his lecture room." I gestured to the class I just came out from.

"And I better get going now, don't want to be late for my next class." I turned to leave while waving at her.

"I will see you later then. Might stop by your dorm room." She said and I nodded my head walking away.

The day went on like that, Rose came to my room. We played and talked about things with Daniel. Everything seems okay.

Two weeks has passed since Dr. Reyes started taking us literature. Everything has been going smoothly but I haven't received any feedback from him concerning the poem.

I can't help but wonder if he has graded it yet. But I have other things to worry about, like the upcoming test. I have been preparing for the test every night since last week and I won't stop till I finish the test.

I make my way to DR. Reyes, ready for lecture and still trying to stay focused in his class. I mean, how could I? He makes me shiver and flustered . It's not like am gay or anything.

Getting to his class, I quickly take a seat waiting for him to enter. I also turned my phone's sound recorder on, in case I couldn't focus again. I will have something to rely on.

The door opened, and in comes my distraction. I have been calling him that in my head for some time now.

He walks to his desk, putting his briefcase on it and adjusting his tie.

"Good morning class," He greeted. "Good morning Sir." The whole class greeted back.

"So, I have had time to go over your poem from like is it three or two weeks ago, and I must say I'm impressed." He says, handing out our poem back, desk to desk.

When he got to my desk, I looked up to meet his eyes and we held our gaze for a little bit, before I lowered my head and took my script out of his hand.

He proceeded to the next desk and I checked my score. He gave me a C? Like a C? I have never gotten anything below B before, I reread my poem wondering if it was bad.

That's when I saw it, 'See me in my office later in the afternoon.' written in the down part of my script. He wants to see me? Why would he want to see me?

I kept wondering, "Mr Fernandez, I asked you a question." A voice suddenly pulled me out of my thoughts. His voice DR. Reyes.

"Sorry Sir, what was the question again?" I asked and the whole class erupted in laughter. I quickly turned my head down too embarrassed to look up.

"One more sound from any of you and you will see what I will do to you." He said coldly.

"I asked what you think about Romeo and Juliet love story." He said, voice still cold and eyes glaring at me.

"Ummm...." Romeo and Juliet, what do I think of them? I can't think straight right now. I tried to calm down so I could answer his question.

"Ro..." I cleared my throat. "Romeo and Juliet's love was intense and beautiful as we all know, it shows how powerful love can be, and how tragic it can become when you let your emotions do the thinking." I said finally, satisfied with myself for not stuttering.

"Is that so Mr Fernandez?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Yes Sir." I affirmed my words.

"Good. So we will be working on a project and you will be in pairs." Pairs? I have no friends here, Daniel is not majoring in literature nor Rose. How do I talk to these people? They probably think I'm some dirt or something.

The class started buzzing, everybody whispering among themselves.

"Enough of the whispering. You will work in pairs, and you have to write an essay that best describes your partner. Nothing less than a 1000 words."

A 1000 words? I'm supposed to write a 1000 word essay about a stranger? Urghh God, why didn't I just drop this course when I had the chance to.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by a girl waving her hands in front of my face.

"You are Fabian right, we are the only ones unpaired and I thought maybe we could work together?" She asked me, her voice sounded like she was nervous.

I looked up to her and she is so pretty. I mean she is blonde like me but her eyes were so beautiful. I stayed mute staring at her hazel eyes before I remembered she asked me a question.

"Yes, I would like to pair up with you. What is your name?" I asked her, curious because I haven't noticed her in this class before now.

"The name is Scarlet. Scarlet Waters." She replied, holding her hand out for a shake.

I took her hand. "Nice to meet you Scarlet.'

"Nice to meet you too."

I nodded, "where do you suggest we work on the project, my dorm or I don't know?"

"Your dorm is fine, I will see you after class then." She said bye to me and walked back to her desk.

"I believe you all have found your partners. The time is almost up, so class is dismissed." DR. Reyes said.

"One last thing, your project is due for next Friday." He continued leaving the class, before us.

I guess he has something important to do, he never leaves before us.

Then I remember I have to meet him up later that day. What does he want to see me for anyway, I just hope it is nothing too serious.

I make my way to my next class, a class I shared with Daniel, my roommate.
