(Willow's POV)
We just moved in from New Jersey to Virginia and I'm not quite liking my new house. I begged my mum to let me stay with my friends but she insisted I come with her until I'm able to find myself a job and a house.
Still in bed and in my pajamas, I looked around my room trying to think of how I'm gonna unpack all these boxes.
Oh hey! I'm Willow.
I'm a lazy person when it comes to anything physical or academic.
I prefer listening to my music and eating junk food. I don't know how to cook but I know how to bake cookies. Girl's Scouts really helped and that's probably the reason why I'm still living with my mother. Apart from the fact that I don't have a job of course.
I am twenty three and I graduated last year from college
I'm not valedictorian nor salutatorian. Just one of the average, invisible and not so attractive girls who like to be on their own in school.
I am not an introvert nor an extrovert. I love to keep to myself but don't like being quiet.
We moved to a suburb here in Virginia yesterday and I didn't get the privilege to check out the neighborhood.
I heard my mum shout my name
"I'm coming mum!" I shouted back
I wonder what the problem is this time but when I got downstairs, a girl around my age with black hair and full lips was sitting with another woman that looked like her mother.
"These are our new neighbors. They brought us cookies!" My mother said. Why did she let strangers into the house? I've never lived in a suburb therefore, I don't know how people behave around here but letting strangers into your house, something new.
I still prefer New Jersey though. The noise, the mall, clubs and city life.
"Hi! I'm Stella " The eldest woman said and her daughter waved. "This is Iris. We live next door and decided to say hi"
She sounded so friendly and sweet.
"I'm Willow" I simply stated.
"Iris just graduated and is now working in a boutique. I figured you might need help looking for a job since you just moved in, so feel free to ask Iris for help" Stella said again.
"Yes, we have great places you might want to work at" Iris smiled at me.
"I'll keep that in mind" I earned a glare from my mum. "And thank you for being kind and generous" I put on my best fake smiles and went back to my room.
Now I have to figure out how to unpack. Maybe I should ask Iris. She looks all too willing to do anything.
I brushed my teeth, washed my face and changed into a simple shirt and baggy jeans. Those cookies looked so good.
"Hey sweetheart, how's unpacking?" My mum walked into my room.
"What happened to good old fashion knocking?" I grinned at her.
"Not when the door is open" she sat on my bed.
"How was your night mum?" I yawned.
"Never been peaceful" she placed some newspaper on the bed. "I got something for you" she said.
"Mum you don't have to do this!" I was already irritated. Why does she always think she has to meddle in every single angle of my life? There are some things I can do without right now.
"You need a push" she maintained her cool.
"I need to be alone"
"For how long?"
"Mum, if you're done mourning, I'm not!" I stood to my feet.
"Your father died five years ago for chrissakes!" She stood to her feet
"Doesn't change a thing!" I am not doing this with her again. "Just leave me the hell alone to heal on my own time and pace"
"You need someone to talk to! You need help!" She sighed.
"If I need help, I'll ask for it! Stop trying to fix me!" I shouted and picked my hoodie and keys slamming the door behind me.
I do not know where I am driving to but I know I had to get the hell away from my mother.
She has been my greatest support system and I love her so freaking much but sometimes, she needs to take a step back.
I drove for some minutes in my car, a Porsche 911 1963 I inherited from my father and found myself on a road that just kept going. What is this place?
I stopped my car just by the side of the road to try and get a map on my phone so I could navigate smoothly but I suddenly saw a huge dog.
It ran out of the woods on the left side of the road and quickly disappeared into the woods on the right.
Followed by two more and an even bigger one which stood in front of the car and looked me in the eyes.
It was black with red eyes.
What kind of a dog is that?
No! It's not a dog! It's a wolf! I realized.
I was shaking and didn't know what to do.
I don't want to live another minute in this place.
Why are such dangerous animals living so freely?
I fumbled with my keys and failed so miserably trying to ignite the car.
Then the worst happened.
More wolves came out of the woods and surrounded my car.
I wanted to scream, shout and cry. This can not be the way I die.
I wished I hadn't stormed out on my mother.
My car started shaking and the next thing I did was pick my phone and dial my mother.
She didn't pick twice.
But it was already too late as my car rolled over and I felt my body being dragged out by pointed teeth and claws. I could see the black wolf look down on me.
The last thing I remembered was the intense pain in my abdomen.
So this is it. I'm gonna die just like that? I knew moving here was a bad idea. I'll miss my mother so much but I'll get to be with my father.
This is strange, I thought I was dead? Then why am I feeling my legs and hands?
I tried to sit up but pain was mainly what I felt.
Slowly opening my eyes, I looked around.
I was in an almost empty room. A heart monitor, water dispenser and the bed I was on.
I felt secluded and closely guarded.
Heavens bless the soul that saved my life. I couldn't believe I was attacked by wolves and I survived.
"Mum?" Was the first thing I said. I just wanted to see her and apologize for walking out on her and maybe she could spare me one of those comforting hugs.
I tried to sit up but the pain pinned me back down. Tears rolled down my face into my ears.
This is the worst luck ever.
I heard footsteps and wiped my face.
"Where's my mother?" I demanded when a man walked in and stood beside me.
"I'm sure she's fine" he said.
"What does that even mean? I want to see her this instant. What hospital is this? Where am I?" I demanded.
The man was physically built with brown hair matching his eyes.
"You're safe. I'll call someone who will answer your questions but as for your mother, don't worry about it" he said and walked out.
I was wearing different clothes, a dress? Who the hell changed me!?
She must be mad at me right now.
My car!
I heard footsteps again but couldn't see who it was until he stood over me.
He looked better than the first one.
He had the most beautiful set of green eyes I've ever seen. Gray hair and red lips. No beard but a serious face.
"Who are you?" I almost stammered.
"Someone you don't know" he checked the monitor, some device, my pulse and temperature.
Why the attitude? Can I get this hot doctor everyday?
"Where am I?" I asked again.
"A hospital" he simply said. "Willow right?" He asked and I simply nodded. "Second name?"
"Genzzi" What is the questioning all about?
"What are you feeling?" He asked.
"Um" I touched my neck and my necklace was missing. "Where's my necklace?!" I almost shouted.
"Here" he removed it from his pocket. "But I don't think you should wear it"
"I promised never to take it off. Give it" I suddenly sat up and snatched it from him.
Where did all that strength come from? I felt strange. I felt like I wanted to growl. I want to roll on the floor or run and feel the breeze caress my face. Smell the leaves and the trees. It was a new feeling I really couldn't figure out.
I put on the necklace and felt better.
I spotted some clothes soaked with blood close to his legs.
"Did I bleed that much?" I touched my stomach and there was hardly a wound but where is the pain coming from? What was happening?
"I want to go home" I tried to get down from the bed but he pinned me to it.
"When you get home, ask your mother to tell you the truth about Genzzi and your necklace" he simply said and I passed out.
(Willow's POV) When I opened my eyes, I found myself in my car in the driveway of my new house. Was that a dream? What happened? How did I get here and who were those mysterious men? And how did they save her life? "Willow!" I heard an aggressive knock on the window and almost jumped. She had the most terrific look on her face and I felt bad. "Hey mum" I lazily said as I got down from the car. "Hey mum? Is that all you got? Get in! Now!" She ordered but I hugged her instead. I don't want to ever feel like I was never going to see her again. "I'm sorry mum" I cried and she patted my hair. That was enough to tell me she wasn't mad anymore. I decided not to tell her about the horrific experience I had with the wolves because it'll only make her worried. "Like I said, they are an interesting set of people. Stella informed the police and formed a search team. She was literally crying" my mum laughed. "That's just dramatic" I laughed with her. "Not when my only child is missing.
(Willow's POV)After a lot of thinking and consideration, I avoided my mum. I couldn't bring myself to look at her even after so many apologies and ways to get me to talk to her.I sat by the river imagining what my life would be like after this. I've made my decision and there's no going back."Finally" I heard his voice. Do I really want this? Am I ready? Well, I perfectly know the answers I needed."Jordan right?" I turned to him. It took me a week to make this decision and I know he waited."I guess she told you everything?" He walked past me. "She still remembers me" "My mum is the last person I want to talk about. She's in my past, I don't wanna hear or see her ever again" I breathed. "I'm ready to accept my identity, that's who I wanna be" I simply said to him because the sooner the better. I saw him smile. "What's amusing?""The fact that you think it's that easy. You don't have a single idea how or what being a wolf is" He rolled his eyes. "Then teach me" I commanded. He qu
(Willow's POV)It wasn't anything like what I watched in the movies. All my life, I thought shifting was just like magic. That's what they made us believe but the pain is absolutely unbearable. Like my soul was ripped out of my body. But I still wasn't able to shift.Jordan looked down on me pathetically and after an ear full of my pleas, he gave me back the necklace. He left angry and I knew it. He is an ass but I felt like I failed him.No matter how hard I try, I can't shift.I parked my car in the driveway and walked into my house. My mother was sipping coffee and was lost in her thoughts."Sweetie!" She gave me a huge hug."I'm only here to ask about my father and the necessary information I need because I'm still not able to shift," I stated."I have little knowledge about shifting sweetheart. How can I possibly know how it's done? Maybe a little patience" She smiled."I took off the necklace, but nothing happened. I thought I'll be able to shift immediately. Jordan tried his be
(Willow's POV) No matter how hard I tried to look for Jordan, I never succeeded. Nobody seemed to know him at all and it became frustrating. Two weeks and I heard nothing from him. I tried to take his advice and move on, get a job but I couldn't bring myself to do it. All I wanted was to be with my kind and it wasn't fair that he is depriving me a chance. I tried to do it myself but I almost died yesterday. It was harder considering the fact that I have no one. I can't even open up to my new best friend and it is killing me. I felt anger. I felt disappointed. If I can't go to Jordan, maybe he will come to me. The last time I shouted his name, he appeared. But I have tried that already. I went to the river eight times just to shout his name but he never came. I even looked deep in the woods but nothing! The only difference was that I was in danger and it was dark. Just maybe, if I scream for help in the woods at night, he might show up. But what if I get into real trouble?
(Willow's POV) I felt his eyes as they bore into my skin. I quickly sat up and hugged my knees to cover my breasts. Why won't the earth open and swallow me? I wished I could disappear. I didn't dare look up because I was pink with embarrassment. What is going through his head? Is he looking at me or looking away like the gentleman he is supposed to be? I gathered enough courage to look up and he was staring right at me. My heart jumped to the pit of my stomach. He didn't say anything and we just locked eyes. I couldn't read his eyes. "Have the decency to look away" I glared at him. "Nothing I haven't seen before" He casually said. Was he for real? "I can't go home like this" I tried to shield myself with my hands but it was useless. "Get up" He ordered. I blinked and waited for him to make sense but he just stared back. "W...why?" I stammered. "I can't go home like this, '' I repeated. "Okay then. I guess you'll be spending the night here. I'm leaving" He took a few s
He looked out the French windows with a pen clicking in between his fingers. His current investigation failed and he is stuck. Regardless of how hard he tries, it always leads to a dead end. "Jordan" A man with brown eyes walked in. "What's new?" Jordan swirled his chair to face his beta and friend. "We have nothing" The man replied with a slight bow of his head. "And Willow?" "She is at the river, as usual" "You left her alone? You know she should never be alone" Jordan stood up. He knew he couldn't trust Willow to be on her own. It's either she seeks for trouble or trouble seems to find her so he had to keep a close eye on her. "Don't you think you should bring her here? She is a werewolf" Japh said. "She doesn't belong here. Not every werewolf stays with its pack. Do you know how many wolves choose humanity over their wolf?" "But she wants to be here, that's the difference!" Japh exclaimed. "I know what's best for her because she doesn't know it," Jordan replied. "A
Willow couldn't tell what was happening because she was blinded by tears and speechless with fright. Two of the men shifted but Jordan didn't.One moment she was crying in a corner, the next moment, Jordan and a brown wolf bashed in tossing and stabbing the three drunks who tried to rape her.Jordan looked straight at her. His eyes filled with anger as blood dripped down his hands. As much as she was glad that he saved her, she dreaded going close to him. Something wadded her off but she still found herself wrapping her two shaking hands around him.Japh shifted and put on some of the clothes he found in the cabin. He gave Jordan a cloth to clean his hands. She quietly cried on his chest and for a moment, he let her until he painfully grabbed her arm."I regret ever looking for you" Jordan growled and dragged her out. Japh cautiously followed them."I just wanted to…""You didn't have to do anything!" He let her go with a slight push. "You are a problem!""We need to keep moving guys"
Willow stared at Jordan. He just stood at the door. No expression and no movement. His eyes shifted to her body and back to her face again. Willow cursed herself for wearing his shirt. "Hey Willow" Japh walked into the house. "I'm Japh. Jordan's beta. I couldn't introduce myself earlier due to…" "I understand" She finally took her eyes off Jordan and followed the other man in. "Are you alone?" He hardly looked around. "Yes. Um...They are all out" She said, trying so hard not to look back at Jordan. "How are you?" Japh asked. Willow smiled when she saw the genuine concern in his eyes. She wished Jordan was more like Japh. "I'm good" She said and watched Jordan from the corner of her eyes. He finally walked in but moved as far from the both of them as possible. "Well if you need anything, let me know. I want to help in anyway" Japh slightly tapped her on the shoulder. "Thank you Japh…" "You are coming with us to the pack house. You need to inform your mother right now" Jor
