LOGINNikolai’s POV
The she-wolf slurped my whole cock down her throat, bobbing her head rapidly, but my mind was far from being in the moment with her. At some point, it starts to feel like just vanity, especially when I have pressing things on my mind like the pack's inspection coming up. As the new Alpha king, it’s not as glamorous as most people make it out to be. In fact, I see it more like a curse than a blessing.
“If you spend half of your time as the king having your cock deep down in the throats of whores, I wonder when you will have time for your pack duties.” A voice interrupted, and I looked up to see my father leaning against the door frame, not bothering to hide his disgust.
I pushed her off me gently, and she scurried out of the room while I grabbed my shorts from the nightstand. Father would be fine. I’m already used to him always looking like me, like I’m some form of disappointment to him.
“Knocking is something you should learn,” I muttered under my breath, but he heard me anyway. I waited for the retort, but none came. I got dressed, and I stood there watching him with my hands crossed. His eyes looked distant, and after a while, he cleared his throat.
“Nikolai, I want the best for you as the Alpha king. You might think I hate you, but I don’t. I just want what’s best for the general public; they need to trust in their Alpha King,” he started before I cut him off.
“Maybe you should let me handle things and stop trying to rule through me. Your tenure has ended. Maybe you should give me a chance to do some actual work. The council would never trust in me, nor will the people if you keep trying to act like you’re still in charge.” I fired back, and he only scoffed.
“You’re not fit enough to rule the realm. You think if I have other options, I would pick you as my heir?” he scoffed, and I chuckled drily. At least he had the balls to say it to my face, finally.
“Nexus is dead, Father. unless you know a spell to bring him back from the dead, then you’re stuck with me, your only living child.” I spat back, and from the way his eyes darkened in anger, I knew I hit a sore spot.
In a flash, I was slammed against the wall, and his hands wrapped tightly around my throat. He pressed hard, and I clawed at his hands before managing to get his hands off my throat. We tussled around the floor for a while before I shoved him off me, wiping the blood off my mouth from his punch.
“Do you two always need to tear each other apart just to get word across?” Mother’s voice interrupted us, and I just walked back to lean against the wall.
“Your stupid animal would not listen to any type of advice. He’s going to ruin us all without even trying.” He spat angrily before walking out of the room, leaving me and my mother. She walked towards me and tried to check my face for bruises, but I grabbed her hands. There was no point now.
“Nikolai, he wants the best for you. You just have to see past his arrogance.” She muttered softly, and I tried not to roll my eyes. We both know that he has never liked me for once in his life, and the only reason I made it to the throne was because my brother took his own life. All hell turned on me after that. I was never good enough for anything, and he would never hide his displeasure.

“Is that the best hit you can muster?” I barked at Beta Williams, and he huffed before throwing another punch, which I successfully dodged. I needed somewhere to let out all the anger from earlier, so I decided to wrestle my beta.
“Just tell him to leave you be, in a calm way. He might see things from your point of view.” He muttered lowly before throwing another punch, and I hissed through my teeth.
“You and I know that he is always blind to every progress I make, and I’m done fighting to be in his favour,” I replied, successfully landing a blow on his abdomen.
“I still think you should try to have a one-on-one with him. We have an early day tomorrow, I’m not fighting again, I need to pack.” He stated, unwrapping his wrist bands, and I sighed. I have to find another way to let this anger out.
“Whatever.” I hissed before unwrapping my own wrist bands, and I walked off the training courtyard with Williams, with both of us lost in different thoughts.
I slowly dragged myself back to the palace after spending the rest of the evening running wild in the woods. I felt even better than the shitty mood I was in earlier today. I whistled lowly as I climbed the stairs, hoping never to run into father or anybody that would piss me the fuck off.
Some sort of tune was playing in the hallway to my room, and I furrowed my brows. Something about the sound was creepy, and I hastened my steps. Whatever the fuclk was going on in my room, the she-wolves around here know better than to go in there without me explicitly requesting it.
I pushed open the door, and the room was dark save for the candle lit on my table. I looked down, and rose petals were everywhere, and I fought the urge not to roll my eyes in irritation. I closed the door after me, getting ready to call whoever did this rubbish.
I heard a robe fall to the ground and looked in its direction. There she stood, naked, and her face caked in heavy makeup. Anya Hades, my dead brother’s fiancée and my first love.
“I’ve been waiting for you, daddy,” she whispered seductively, and my feet stood rooted to the floor. My eyes raked over her body hungrily, and the curves were still like I remembered when I used to fuck her in the same bed she was standing in front of. Different emotions gushed through me, and I tried to keep my head straight and not run straight into her attempt at seduction.
“What are you doing here, Anya?” I asked gruffly, and she took that as an opportunity to walk towards me. Her slender hands reached for my trousers, and I grabbed them to stop her. She looked up at me before licking her lips and tilting her head so her mouth could gently brush mine.
“I miss you, daddy”, she whispered against my lips, and every one of my blood vessels was rushing south. It’s been two years, and I hate the effect this woman still has on my body. Bold of her to come in here and pretend like the engagement and betrayal didn’t happen. I pushed her away from me softly, and I stepped back.
“You broke our mate bond as soon as Nexus was announced the heir, so you could be with him and be the Luna queen, remember?” I asked lowly, hating how much my pain was evident in my voice. She battered her lashes before reaching to grab my hands. In the past, that would have worked, but now, all I felt was that burning betrayal all over again.
“I made a silly mistake, baby. Nexus is not here anymore. We can be together again,” she replied softly while desperately searching my eyes. Women like Anya knew to find a man’s weakness and strike there, but it wasn’t going to work on me. I fell for it once; I won’t fall for it again.
“You’re dead to me, Anya—same as Nexus. I'm sorry you didn’t get what you wanted, but that ship has sailed long ago. I don’t want ever to see you in my room again. Please pick your robe and get the fuck out. Stop embarrassing yourself.” I told her coldly, and I could see the shock in her eyes. She never thought I’d be able to turn her down.
She pressed her lips against mine frantically, and I shoved her off me. She grabbed her robe and put it on. I could see the fear in her eyes. She scurried past me, and when she got to the door, she turned to look at me.
“I won’t give up on us that easily, Nikolai. You may hate me now, but I promise you we will be together forever.” She declared before shutting the door after herself. All the pain from the night that their engagement was announced came rushing back, and I felt my throat start to constrict in pain.
Fuck you, Anya.
Zara’s POV We arrived at the pack’s courtyard, and I could feel all eyes on me. I felt like the ground should just swallow me. I walked to the vacant seat near him, and that’s when I realized this was the alpha king who was visiting. The cloak that was draped around me belonged to him, and he was the one who saved me from Jeremy. I kept my eyes down, and I bowed a little before sitting. My hands were trembling so badly, and I clasped them together to reduce the trembling. As I took the seat beside him, his scent came rushing back; it enveloped my senses, and it took all my willpower not to reach out and touch him. Did the moon goddess hear my pleas and grant me a second chance mate?He glanced at me briefly, but I was too focused on staring at my hands like they were the most interesting thing in the room. I felt his eyes on me a couple of times, and for the first time, I didn’t feel like the ground should swallow me. A woman walked to the center of the courtyard holding a white s
Nikolai's POV I paced around the quarters prepared for us, and Beta Williams looked irritated, standing by the door. The rest of the men who came with me stood in the sitting room, waiting to hear from us. I tried to control my anger, goddess knew I did, until I saw that bastard try to kill my mate. “Why didn’t you let me just rip out his stupid heart and feed them to the pigs?” I gritted out, and Beta Williams only sighed. He couldn’t come up with a defense this time for Alpha Jeremy. I knew he was unhinged; I didn’t realize he was that unhinged, crazy enough actually to try to kill her. The woman with the needle still hasn’t told us who sent her with the needle, and judging by her stupid alpha’s actions now, it’s not hard to connect the dots. “I finally got the information you need. The palace just sent a file on her, and I don’t think you’re going to like any of these.” Beta Williams cleared his throat, stretching the tablet towards me, and I took it from him. I skimmed through
Zara’s POV I tried to ignore the ringing in my head, but I couldn't. For the first time in a while, I couldn't feel the hard floor of the basement, and this felt like something softer. Like a proper bed, and I tried to move around, my head was resting on something that felt too luxurious to be used on me. My eyes fluttered open, and I shut them instantly from the intensity of the brightness. I tried to open my eyes slowly this time, as I sat up. I felt weak, but I have felt worse. I looked around, and I was in a room that I was sure was the infirmary VIP room. I tried to recall what had happened and why I was here instead of being locked up in another of Jeremy's dark rooms.I noticed an IV fluid attached to my wrist, and near the table was a covered plate. It looked like it was placed there for me, but I didn’t want to think it was meant for me. What if it was a trap from Jeremy? My memory was still a little fuzzy as I sat up and tried to recall the last thing that happened and how
Nikolai’s POVI carried the barely conscious girl out of the shed, and I screamed at the Alpha, asking where the infirmary was located. I barely registered any location since we started the tour because the smell kept messing with me. Noctis won’t stop pacing in my head, and I desperately hope that she will be okay. I hurriedly followed the now stuttering Alpha to the infirmary, and I refused to hand her over to the nurses who rushed to take her from me. As far as I was concerned, all of them here were guilty of maltreating her, and until I found out who she was and how she got in that shed, I wasn’t letting down my guard for anyone. An elderly doctor soon appeared and led me to an empty room, where I gently placed her on the bed. I looked around the room, it wasn’t the standard of the Capital’s hospital, but this would do. I stood firmly as I watched him examine her, before grabbing some supplies from the cabinet. He rubbed some alcohol on her arm before inserting a cannula, and I wa
Nikolai’s POVI sat in the private jet thinking over last night over and over again, hitting every wall in my room till my knuckles bruised or sparing alone all night till my muscles ached, it didn’t help the dark thoughts. Anya really walked in like nothing happened, expecting me to jump into her arms and accept her as my mate.I would never forget the smug look on Nexus’s face when they announced their engagement at dinner, or the way she pretended like I didn’t exist. I cornered her in the kitchen, asking for some answers, and she bluntly told me she belonged to my brother now, and I'd better steer clear of her path. Now that same woman is talking about fighting for us.I let out an awry chuckle before gesturing for the hostess to bring me a whiskey. Williams looked up from the reports he was reading, a disapproving look on his face, but I wasn’t going to bulge.“Are you really going to show up to your first Alpha event drunk out of your mind? You want to give your father something
Zara’s POVI felt the water being emptied on my body, and that jolted me awake instantly. I sat up in fear and watched a grinning Karen stare down at me, holding an empty bucket. She looked satisfied with the reaction I gave her.“Since your alarm didn’t wake you up when I needed you, that’s what you get fr sleeping like a damn pig. Get your ass up, and follow me,” She said smugly, and I got up without another word. The cold wind hit my wet skin as soon as we stepped out of the room, and I wrapped my hands around me instinctively. It was night already, and I wondered what they needed me for again. Perhaps another round of torture.“The Alpha king is visiting our pack tomorrow for the regional pack visitation, and Jeremy wants you to prepare the meals ahead of time. Your special delicacies, and he said to mention that his mom would be in attendance too, so you better not embarrass this family.” She announced as she walked ahead of me, and I didn’t bother arguing. It would only cause mo
