Chapter 18 You Went With Dylan, Right

Keira POV

Dylan's smile from earlier in the day vanished at the sound of my question, and the melancholy in his eyes took its place. Dylan sighed for a split second. He groaned, setting his cup down on the table. After some moments, he said, "Nothing, I merely realized that my childhood desire will never come true."

"Why?" His eyes reminded me of a dead sea as I stared into them: calm, lifeless, and filled with desperation.

Dylan ceased to talk. We were familiar with one another because we shared a childhood. He declined to tell me about his childhood aspirations, and I opted not to share the secret I had withheld from my brother.

"This is the only thing I won't tell you." He murmured as the bartender poured him a Tennessee whiskey.

"I promise, I have only one item I'm concealing from you too." I said as I held out my hand and winked, "But I still don't know why you cried when you told me you've shifted."

"Same." He spoke but he didn't answer my last question.
