Xavier POV

“Calm down, beautiful,” I cooed as she snuggled in closer to my chest, her jagged breathing and racing heart, my brows furrowed together. Sage and I had remained close even after the rejection. She was like family to me. Perhaps they just needed to meet each other … Sage loves this pack she would want to bond with her Luna.

I kiss the top of her head; I’d felt guilty all night about how I had treated her earlier. She didn’t have her wolf yet, but it angered me she wanted someone else. I’d only ever treated her like the queen she was. What did I have to do to prove to her I loved her? It was soon, but she would understand eventually.

I pulled her back, looking deep into her eyes; she was still young, lost so much, my jaw clenched. I needed to do better. Dragging her down the street and locking her in our bedroom was hardly the best thing to do … I just couldn’t have her leave me.
