Xyren’s POV

“Thirty Million Dollars for this beautiful item here. Going once, going twice and sold to seat number eight over there.” The robust looking host dressed in a formal suit announced, his lips set in a professional smile drawing low applauses from the audience.

He turned and signaled to the guards lying in wait and they rushed on to the stage and carried the obviously drugged red head whose face was devoid of any emotion off the stage. He then turned back to the audience still smiling. “Like I mentioned earlier Alphas, all purchased items can be redeemed backstage and we also do offer delivery services too. Now on to the next item on the list, this….”

He kept on talking but I couldn’t be bothered to listen as I tuned him out. Placing my chin on my upturned palm, I sighed in boredom.

This was not my scene at all but as the Alpha King I had to show up as these people had made it their life’s mission to invite me every year despite the fact that I was clearly uninterested and that I never engaged in their “auction” by buying anything.

Don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t a saint by any means and it wasn’t because I thought it wrong that I didn’t buy anything. It’s just that as a neat freak slaves that might have been previously owned by another made me a bit disgusted. I didn’t know where they had been nor did I want to find out. I would rather pick one of the eager women back at my manor as they were way cleaner.

Besides, there was that thing that made me decide to keep off women in general as of late.

I tapped rhythmically on the chair I was sitting counting the seconds till I could leave this place.

Suddenly, all the hair on my body stood on air and then everything around me stilled, the noise around me disappearing completely.

Thump! Thump!

My hand shot to my chest while my mouth parted slightly as my heart began to beat erratically. It seemed like any minute now, it would burst right out of my chest. My blood boiled and I swallowed as my throat sudden went dry.

“Xyren. Can you feel that too?” My wolf, Damien suddenly spoke up obviously referring not to how uncomfortable I felt but the new tugging feeling in my chest.

It would have suprised me that he spoke as he rarely did ever since I became Alpha king if not because of what I was feeling at the moment.

I felt like my whole being was being forcefully pulled in a direction, a subtle voice calling to me.

I heeded the call and raised my head only to be hit with a lot of emotions when I first laid my eyes on her.

Honestly, my first thought was that I had seen women that were far more beautiful. Women who weren't slaves being auctioned off without a piece of clothing covering their dignity.

She was nothing special.

Well then why couldn't I take my eyes off of her? Why did I immediately find her utterly breathtaking? Why did I feel the intense urge to cross the little distance between us and cover her up before taking her away from her? Why did I feel an intense rage and jealousy when I realized that it wasn't only I who got to look at her this way?

“She's ours.” Damien growled echoing the thought I didn't speak out.

I knew the answer to all my questions even without him affirming it.

This silver haired slave who was currently shivering on stage was my mate.
