CHAPTER 6— A DIFFERENT FUTURE

“Hey you...! Quit fumbling yourself, quit your pitiful whimpers and tell me...have you gotten a wolf now? I can’t seem to smell if you have...the scent of your heat is too strong, so tell me.”

Kiara whimpered as she looked up at him, barely managing to nod her head. “Ye...yes.”

“Since when?”

“Tonight...a-a little before you came.”

“So I guess you’ve finally become an omega then, your scent is sweet...you cannot be anything but that.”

“I...I—”

“Are you not ashamed?”

Ashamed...?

“Why...why should I be ashamed?”

“Because you’ve now gained a wolf, but how much better did it make you? You’re still weak, trembling from something as painless as a heat. You make me want to laugh and vomit at the same time.”

At his nasty words, Kiara’s eyes blurred with tears, her heart shattering; falling apart. It was true, his words were the truth, what was it to have a wolf and can’t do anything with it?

She couldn’t escape him even if she was running on four legs, he’d hunt her and he’d kill her just like he did her parents...ruthlessly, mercilessly, without sympathy or regret.

And if she tried to fight him, it was obvious who’d win, he was the strong one, she was the weak one...he’d put her down with nothing but the stomp of one feet and Kiara hated it.

She wouldn’t be able to avenge her parents even if she tried to, she hated being weak, she hated the goddess for making her weak...

She hated this life, but even without a reason to continue living, she didn’t want to die.

Turning away from him, Kiara faced the walls, breathing heavily as her moist legs rubbed against each other. “I... you’re r-right, I-I am ashamed.”

“Good, it’s good to know.” Zique stared down at the bulge in his pants, willing it to go down. He knew he’d eventually have to give in, but not yet...he was not ready, not yet. “But at the moment, I want sleep...be quiet, your whimpers are distracting. If I hear one more of them, there’s duck tape downstairs, I won’t hesitate to tape it across your mouth.”

And with that, he stepped back until he was out the door, closing it behind him.

Kiara looked back at the closed door, muffling a sob when it drifted up her throat. He hated her and for what?

Just for existing...

She had done him nothing to be treated this way, he was so cruel and vile towards her all because she was weak...goddess, why was she mated to him?

It was obvious that she couldn’t make him happy and he couldn’t make her happy either. They were opposites; weak and strong, two types of people who shouldn’t mix.

Did the goddess expect her to forgive him with open arms after he killed her parents? Even if she did that, did the goddess think she could forgive him for despising her because of her lack of strength?

It wasn’t her who made herself weak and instead of cursing her creator, he kept cursing her... cruel.

Did he not know that it hurts?

Every harsh word that slithered out of his mouth lashed at her heart like a whip. It was now bleeding out, crying blood, so tired of being lonely and unloved.

She needed someone to talk to, a shoulder to lean on, she had struggled for so many years and no one had the heart to console her, to congratulate her for surviving, to pat her head and call her a good girl like father had.

So many different omegas came down to the dungeon and all they did was lay the scraps of food down and trembled whenever she tried to speak with them. They were afraid of her because they were afraid of him.

No companions, no friends...her life was such a mess that her mother and father would pity her if they were alive. But if they were alive, would her life had turned out like this?

Probably not...she’d probably be able to smile and laugh, people wouldn’t be afraid to talk to her and she’d have freedom, at least just enough that existed inside the borders.

But they were dead and it was all because of him...her mate, the man her body was currently wishing would hold her, the man that she was being swayed to love.

But she wouldn’t, no matter how strong the mark on her neck was, she would not heed. This man was incapable of being loved, if he’d just apologize to her and apologize to her parents, then perhaps she would forgive him...no she definitely would forgive him, but instead of doing that, he kept blaming her for being weak.

Did he not know that they were destined? Did his parents not explain to him what mates meant? She was his fated one, according to the goddess, they were meant to be together; total matches despite being so different...

Was the goddess perhaps wrong?

No, mother said the goddess was never wrong...she said the goddess knew all, she makes no mistakes...

If so, then was this Alpha and her really meant to be mates instead of enemies?

Would they one day live as happily as other mates do?

Would she forgive him one day?

Would she forget about the awful past?

Would she...would she come to love him in the future?

Kiara wiped her teary eyes. That future wasn’t one she saw coming.

She didn’t think she could be happy with someone as cruel as him...

Didn’t think she could forgive him, since he couldn’t seem to forgive her for being weak...

Didn’t think she could forget the brutality of the past and the harsh words he had engraved in her head...

Didn’t think she could ever come to love the man who took away her loved ones from her...
