INARA'S POV

Chapter 93

I kept feeding him slowly, bite after bite, my free hand stroking his chest or playing with his hair. The tension in his body was easing little by little, but I could still feel the storm raging through the bond — fear, protectiveness, exhaustion.

My own fear was buried deep, locked away so I could be strong for him. He needed me right now. Not the scared version of me. The Luna version. The mate who believed in him.

“You should take a cold shower,” I suggested softly w

GRAYSON'S POV The room felt too small, too quiet after Inara’s screams had torn through it. She was still trembling in my arms, face buried in my neck, her body shaking with sobs that broke something deep inside me. My wolf was snarling, pacing, desperate to destroy whatever had caused her this pain. The warriors stood in the doorway, eyes wide, waiting for orders. They wanted to ask her questions, what she saw, when it happened, every detail. But she was in no state for that.“Out,” I growled, voice low but commanding. “All of you. Now.”They bowed quickly and backed out. I looked at Niel, my beta and closest friend, meeting his eyes. “You’re in charge until I say otherwise. Double the guards around the chambers. No one comes in without my permission. Handle the rest.”Niel nodded, concern etched on his face. “I’ve got it, Alpha. Take care of her.”The door closed behind them, leaving us alone. I held Inara tighter, rocking her gently as her cries slowly quieted into soft, broken

  • The Cursed Alpha's Substitute Luna    What the hell was going on?

INARA'S POV Later that morning, the great hall felt warmer than I expected. The pack had prepared a welcome breakfast spread, fresh bread, roasted meats, fruits, and the spiced tea I loved. Grayson and I sat at the head table, his hand never leaving mine under the cloth. The pack members greeted us warmly as they ate, some coming up to offer small gifts or just to say how glad they were we were back. Elara hugged me tightly when she saw me, whispering how much she’d missed her Luna.I smiled through it all, squeezing Grayson’s hand when I felt his tension spike. He was trying to be present, laughing at jokes and nodding at reports, but I could feel the storm under the surface through the bond. The package. The note. The fear he was trying so hard to hide from me.“You’re doing great,” I whispered to him between bites, feeding him a piece of fruit when no one was looking. “Just breathe. We’re home. Together.”He kissed my temple softly, eyes softening for a moment. “With you here, I

  • The Cursed Alpha's Substitute Luna    Get the pack doctor!

INARA'S POV I woke up with a full bladder and a heavy arm draped possessively over my waist. Grayson was still fast asleep behind me, his warm breath tickling the back of my neck, his body curled around mine like he was afraid I’d disappear again. The nightmare from last night lingered in the back of my mind, shadows, hands grabbing me, being pulled away from him but his presence chased most of it away. Still, I really needed to pee.I tried to slide out of his arms gently, wiggling toward the edge of the bed. His grip tightened immediately, pulling me back against his chest with a sleepy grunt. I smiled despite myself, my wolf purring softly inside me at how clingy he was even unconscious.“Grayson,” I whispered, tapping his arm softly like a child trying to get her parent’s attention. “Baby, I need to pee. Let me go for a second.”He muttered something incoherent, loosening his hold just enough for me to slip out. “Sorry…” he mumbled, already reaching for me again as I stood up.

The mate who believed in him.“You should take a cold shower,” I suggested softly when the bowl was finally empty. “It’ll help you relax. Then we can rest. You look like you need it, my love.”He nodded, eyes heavy. “Yeah… you’re right. Come with me?”I smiled and stood up, taking his hand. We walked to the bathroom together, the silence between us heavy but not uncomfortable. I helped him undress, my hands gentle on his skin as I peeled off his shirt. He stepped into the shower and turned the water cold. I stayed just outside, watching the water run down his broad back, his

  • The Cursed Alpha's Substitute Luna    I don't deserve you

INARA'S POV I held Grayson close, my arms wrapped tightly around his neck as he trembled against me. The confession about the package, the crossed-out pictures, the threatening note — hung heavy in the air between us. My stomach twisted with fear. Someone was watching us. Someone wanted me gone. The “real one” — Liora, probably, was coming back. The thought made my wolf whine anxiously inside me, pacing with unease. But I couldn’t let him see it. Not right now. He was already breaking, already carrying so much guilt and fear. If I showed how scared I was, it would only make it worse. So I pushed the terror down deep, burying it under love and reassurance. I was his Luna. His mate. I needed to be strong for him the way he’d been strong for me so many times.I pulled back just enough to cradle his face in my hands, thumbs stroking his cheeks. His silver-flecked eyes were filled with so much pain and love it made my heart ache.“You’re the strong Alpha who has fought nations and won,”

  • The Cursed Alpha's Substitute Luna    We'll figure it out together

GRAYSON'S POV I stared at her pleading eyes, those beautiful eyes that had looked at me with so much love and trust throughout our honeymoon, and my chest felt like it was being crushed. How the fuck was I supposed to tell her this? How could I drop something so terrible on her without shattering the fragile peace we’d built? The box. The crossed-out pictures. The note sayingThe real one shall return. It was a direct threat against my mate. Against us.My wolf snarled inside me, pacing furiously. Protect her. Tell her. Don’t lose her trust. But looking at her, kneeling in front of me, holding my hands, waiting so patiently — I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I couldn’t keep lying to the woman who had given me everything.I lifted her gently, pulling her onto my lap so she straddled me, her arms wrapping around my neck like they belonged there. I cradled her close, one hand on her back, the other cupping the back of her head, burying my face in her hair for a moment. She smelled like h
