Liana

Everyone's eyes were now on me. The dirty omega who just spilled drinks on the alpha of the pack.

I quickly got up and rushed towards the man.

“I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry.” I began dabbing at the drinks dripping from him in an attempt to wipe it off.

He grabbed my hands forcefully and threw me back and I fell down flat on my ass. Pain shot up through my wrist as I tried to bridge my fall.

“Who the hell gave you the right to put your hands on me?” The alpha growled.

“I'm sorry!” I cried because I didn't know what else to say.

“Get up!” My father barked.

I quickly tried to stand but the pain in my wrist only intensified. I must have dislocated the joint. I stood on shaky legs while holding onto my left wrists with my right hand. I looked down at my feet because I couldn't bear the look of disappointment on my father's face.

“I told you not to disgrace me today!” He said in a dangerous low tone.

“I didn't mean to.” The tears were now falling from my eyes.

My father turned to the alpha with a deep bow.

“Forgive the insolence of my house, alpha Carl. I promise to dish out a punishment that is worthy of this crime.” He said apologetically.

Alpha Carl still didn't look pleased.

“Who the hell is she?” He demanded.

My father sighed heavily.

“She is my daughter.” He said in shame.

Alpha Carl raised his eyebrow in mockery.

“I never knew you had such a lowly daughter.” He mocked.

“I don't know the sins I've committed with which I was punished with such an atrocity.” My father said in regret.

“What's your name, child?” Alpha Carl asked.

“Liana.” I whispered.

“Speak up!” He demanded.

“Liana.” I said a little louder this time.

“Count yourself lucky that your father takes care of you. If I had a child like you, I would have sacrificed you at birth.” He deadpanned.

“That's okay, father. Luthor has brought a change of clothes for you.”

I looked up at the man who just called the alpha, father. He wasn't the one that caught my attention. I looked past him at the man who had caught my attention a few minutes earlier to see he was still looking at me. I quickly looked away in embarrassment.

“Thank you, Baylor.” Alpha Carl said.

He accepted the clothes and my father led him into the adjourning closet to change. I just stood there awkwardly until they came out.

“Go and make new drinks for my guests.” My father instructed me.

I nodded and walked away with my head hanging in shame. Mother followed behind me. The minute we entered the kitchen, a resounding slap landed on my cheek.

I yelped because I wasn't expecting it. My left hand flew to my face, forgetting I had dislocated my wrist and another bout of pain ensued.

“You dare?” She growled.

“I didn't mean to.” I pleaded.

Those words had become a constant in my mouth.

“Your father has been preparing for this gathering for weeks and the one thing he asked of you was to make it perfect! This is how you disgrace him in front of his peers?” She demanded.

Nothing I had to say could make the situation any better so I kept quiet.

“You are nothing but a disgrace. I regret the day I took in with you. Prepare the new drinks for the guests, and you better serve them respectfully this time around.” She snarled.

I didn't even know how I was going to serve the drinks with one hand but I had to manage. Even though I was in so much pain, I disregarded it and made a fresh batch of drinks.

The council men were talking about the pack's succession when I resurfaced a few minutes later. I carefully laid out the drinks to avoid any more mishaps. I could still feel that man’s eyes one and I did my best not to look at him.

“One more thing.” Alpha Carl said in excitement. “The priestess is on her way here. She told me earlier today that she got a revelation from the goddess and she would.only share it when the council is gathered so what better chance for her to do it if not now?”

The other men nodded happily. It's been a long time since we received any project and so everyone was happy and anticipated the arrival of the priestess.

Soon, she came. I quickly ran out and added another chair for her to join the councilmen.

I stood by the door and watched because I didn't want to miss whatever she had to say.

“Welcome, the eyes of the goddess. I've gathered the men like you requested.” Alpha Carl began.

The priestess smiled and looked around the table.

“The moon goddess has looked upon us with mercy and she has given me a prophecy that will bring about the prosperity of our pack.”

Everyone howled happily.

“Prince Baylor, the goddess says it's time for you to mate.” She announced.

Baylor looked around the table happily. Alpha Carl stood up and pulled him into his blossom proudly.

“I knew you had come of age and I knew the goddess would not leave us wanting.”

Everyone was rejoicing at the news.

“Does the goddess have anyone in mind for this great union? A powerful family perhaps?” The alpha asked.

The priestess smiled warmly.

“She has given me her chosen one from this household.”

Alpha Carl quickly offered a handshake to my father. They both hugged each other like long lost brothers.

Baylor stood up happily and offered his hand to Ariana. She took it proudly and stood up next to him. My parents beamed at the honor that was being bestowed upon them.

Suddenly, the priestess stood up and if the chair burned her. Her head whipped around immediately and her eyes met mine where I was standing behind the door. I stumbled back in fear.

“Not her, You!” She declared.

Everyone turned to look at me and Ariana's face dimmed with gloom.

“You are the chosen one.” The priestess said.

“That's not possible. She's just an omega. Disregard her.” My father said immediately.

“She is the chosen one.” The priestess deadpanned.

  • The Dangerous Alpha’s Little Wolf   Chapter 157

Liana’s POVThe raspy whisper echoed off the cold stone walls, sending a chill straight down my spine. Carl sat motionless on the narrow wooden bed, his blank eyes wide and staring into the empty corner of the room while his dry lips kept moving without pause.“It is coming,” Carl repeated, his voice barely more than a hollow rattle. “The shadow in the deep... it is already awake.”Baylor reached out, his hand trembling as he grabbed his father’s shoulders. “Father! Look at me! Who is awake? What are you talking about?”Carl did not flinch, nor did he acknowledge Baylor’s physical touch. He remained completely rigid, repeating the same terrifying warning like a spell he could not stop reciting.“He cannot hear you, Baylor,” I said gently, stepping into the room and placing a hand on my cousin’s back. “He is not speaking to us. He is echoing whatever is trapped inside his mind.”Drogo crossed the threshold right behind me, his hand resting securely on the pommel of his sword as his sha

  • The Dangerous Alpha’s Little Wolf   Chapter 156

Liana’s POVThe silence surrounding Carl felt far worse than any threat he had ever hurled at us across a battlefield. He stood in the center of the courtyard, surrounded by torches, without shifting his balance or blinking against the glare.“Is he injured?” I asked, stepping toward Drogo as Baylor slid off his horse.“Not a scratch on him,” Baylor replied, rubbing his dust-covered face with the back of his sleeve. “We found him standing in the middle of those scorched woods, just staring into the dark.”“Did he say anything to you?” I asked, looking over at my uncle’s blank face. “Did he recognize the locket?”“Not a word,” Baylor sighed, shaking his head slowly. “He looked right at me when I held it out, but his eyes were completely empty. It was like looking at a hollow shell.”Drogo stepped between Carl and the gathering crowd, gesturing for Soren to clear the courtyard. “We cannot leave him standing out in the open like a spectacle. Put him in the high tower room under guard.”“

  • The Dangerous Alpha’s Little Wolf   Chapter 155

Liana’s POVBeing left behind at Silvercrest was absolute torture. Drogo and the council had ganged up on me at dawn, insisting that taking an unbalanced carrier back to the very ground that broke Carl was a recipe for catastrophe. So, while Drogo and Baylor were out in the dark woods tracking a giant monster, I was stuck at a wooden desk, surrounded by piles of moldy old books.“If I have to read one more line of ancient script, my eyes are going to drop right out of my head,” I groaned, rubbing my forehead as I slumped back in my chair.Maren did not even look up from her stack of translated parchment. “You are the one who insisted on finding answers before they returned, my lady.”“I meant easy answers,” I muttered, poking at a brittle leather cover. “Like a simple potion or a nice spell that fixes corrupted Alpha blood. Not three hundred pages of family tragedy.”We had spent hours sifting through the confiscated ritual texts from Corwin’s lodge. Maren had worked tirelessly to cle

  • The Dangerous Alpha’s Little Wolf   Chapter 154

Baylor’s POVI knelt beside the massive print, my hand hovering an inch above the churned earth. I had watched my father shift a thousand times throughout my life and I knew the exact outline of his grey wolf down to the smallest detail. This mark was nearly twice that size, its jagged claw indentations dragged so deep into the frozen dirt that they looked like minor trenches.“That is not a normal wolf,” Den muttered, stepping back while his hand rested nervously on the hilt of his short sword.“He was not normal when he left,” I said, my voice barely carrying across the icy clearing as I stood up.The scorched earth led away from the ritual clearing rather than toward it, splintering the underbrush in a jagged line. It looked less like a retreat and more like something had been violently driven out by a force too massive for the clearing to hold.I pushed forward into the dark woods, ignoring Drogo’s sharp warning to wait for the scouts to check the perimeter. Sable kept pace right

  • The Dangerous Alpha’s Little Wolf   Chapter 153

Drogo’s POVI kept my warhorse at a slow trot on the ride back to camp, my eyes scanning the surrounding ridgeline while my mind picked apart every word that had just come out of Baylor’s mouth. Liana rode quietly beside me, clearly moved by her cousin’s sudden confession of guilt, but I was not about to let a sudden display of vulnerability blind us to reality. A man whose loyalties had flipped three times in six months did not earn my trust simply because he looked exhausted.“You are thinking he is setting us up,” Liana said, breaking the silence as our horses stepped onto Silvercrest territory.“I am thinking Corwin is sitting in our prison cell right now, yet this whole situation still smells like one of his elaborate plays,” I replied, pulling my horse to a halt beneath a wide overhang. “Baylor looked genuine out there, I will give him that. But genuine men get manipulated into laying traps all the time.”Liana pulled her horse around to face me, a faint, wry smile touching her

  • The Dangerous Alpha’s Little Wolf   Chapter 152

Liana’s POVThe morning air felt like ice against my cheeks as our horses trotted slowly onto the open frost of the neutral boundary. Drogo rode right beside me this time, his dark gaze scanning the surrounding treeline for hidden archers. I had not argued with him when he saddled his warhorse at dawn. After everything that had happened over the last twenty-four hours, having his solid presence beside me was a relief I was not too proud to accept.I kept one hand near the hilt of my dagger, though I doubted steel would be enough against whatever waited beyond this meeting. The faint silver shimmer beneath my skin pulsed every few minutes, reminding me that Sable’s warning was not some distant legend. Something inside me was changing, even if I still did not understand what it wanted.Ariana rode on my left, looking pale and holding her reins tight against her healing ribs. She kept her chin high, but her unreadable posture was a shield I had learned never to trust completely.“You do
