They discussed business for the next hour as Kat curled up and fell asleep listening to music. Ruben, the others noticed, kept his arm over her quite protectively as she had turned inwards to face the couch her face nestled into his hip. His arm he had lowered to rest lightly in the curve of her waist, his hand on her back. Vlad took his phone out and took a photo. Ruben looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
“Too cute.” Vlad shrugged. “So…she’s definitely the one?”
Ruben smiled that ever present smirk. “Yes, I believe so.”
“God damn.” Mikhail grumbled. “I really didn’t think Lord Ruben Luisetti would ever be the first one of us to fall.”
Ruben laughed. “No, I always thought it would be Vlad…”
“Me?” Vlad looked startled for a moment. “Hardly, how can I find a mate, I don’t even swing that way…”

The next day noted the fourth day Kat was with Ruben in his mansion and still no sign of Scott showing up to claim her back. It also meant that today was the day the warlocks were due to do the ritual to summon Lord Basille.Kat had slept late as Ruben had ‘gone to work’ in his office. She had mentioned the fact that he never seemed to leave the mansion for meetings or other work related things, he had surprised her when he had confessed that was because he had put all his meetings on hold to stay with and protect her, but that did mean a lot of time on his laptop and his phone talking and emailing.After she finally rose late afternoon, she had gone to find him in his office, sitting quietly in the corner on the couch as he continued to work, the two of them just content to have the other nearby.“I’m hungry.” Kat said as she got up from her chair, stretching.“Christ…do you ever stop eating?” Ruben asked.
